I bought Ambrosious the Sims game for Christmas and I use it more than he does. It is so cool, you can make these people do anything. I can't believe how addicting it is. I might end up loosing my job, too. Just how the girl on my game did...lol

*sigh*

Same for me...I bought it end of October, and I play that more than I'm online...I actually got my daughter booted to military school a dozen times...and the guy next door and I just got hitched...LOL...it's better than real life, better than Lit life...ahhhhhhhh...back to the game.

*hugs*

Hee hee hee...

Ambro and I were just talking about Sims People (as well as a few of their other games they make) earlier today. It's a LOT of fun and can be very addictive! :D A while back I created a po' white trash family to depect my life with my ex. lol I then created a total rich-bitch family as well. Hee hee hee... I wonder which one did better? ;)

Peace

I played that game for a week and then got bored with it.. I have it and the expansion pack under a pile of CDs near my computer.

If I left them alone they did stupid things, if I micromanaged them it wasn't too fun.

I've heard of that game, but never played it, it looks pretty good, though.

The Sims game is okay, I got bored with it after the first few weeks. It is alright though.......a little different concept than most "sim" games. Hope you enjoy it FG. I have a copy I would sell if anyone is interested for cheaper than you can buy at the store.

er Bobtoad..........

Pentium 175 MHz (I think)
at least 32 Megs RAM
couple hundred megs of Hard Drive Space
4 Meg Video Card

Not sure, as I do not have the "box" anymore.....but I think a P2 or P3 would suffice or a AMD K5-K7 with 64 Megs of Ram would work.....

dagnavit that sucks, i hate having a 2 year old puter

P 166, 32 mb ram, 2.1 gb hardrive, no gfx acclerator,

dagnavit dagnavit dagnavit

Sorry Bob, maybe someone else has better info on this than me. I honestly do not have the "box" it came in any longer so I am probably not of much help.

Love the Sims. Did you get the "Livin' Large Expansion Pack"

Also, go to http://www.evilanvil.com and get the nude skins... I have a family of naked chicks in one house and they go all around the neighborhood seducing all of the husbands... :)))

I also have a patch which elimiates the censorship... (like when they shower)

I have a little sims story on the web. go to http://www.shreve.net/~riff/penz.html if you want to see it. (I am pOLygRAph pOLygRAphovich)

I bought The Simms in the summer when my boyfriend (now ex) was living with me and I could play it on his computer. When he moved out I discovered my stupid Compaq couldn't handle it. Damn! I hadn't yet gotten sick of it, though I'm sure I would have eventually. More motivation to buy a new computer! hehehe

It's a very time-consuming game. Things happen so slowly. It's interesting to make the characters interact, but I agree with Never that the micromanagement (ie. sending them to the bathroom, doing the dishes) gets dull.

Hey, we run it on a 233mhz pentium and it does just fine. Now excuse me...

Make the little people go here, make 'em go here, make 'em go pee. SLEEP! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

My Sim would sit around the house all day, do nothing with his life, and flirt with every woman who walked by.

Deja vu........

I love it...my daughter and I play it together. It makes it more fun. And when I get tired of it, she'll take over for a while. I don't find it boring at all...the trick is to pick the sort of character you want with the personality values. If you want them to sit around and make slovenly pigs of themselves, you can. If you want them to be neat freaks, that can be done. My problem is, I find myself playing the same characters all the time, and I think the other ones are feeling neglected...they don't seem to do anything I say. This one lady is such a pig. No job. All she does is eat and mope...depressed old hag...well, anyway, I'm off to write some mail and do more post-holiday cleaning.

BTW: I run mine on a Compaq...just make sure you shut off all the programs running in the background, like your virus scan and ICQ and messengers, etc. or it moves slower.

Well I have played about 6 hrs total, have killed 2 and have a lesbian lover.

Pepin

well i was well and truly hooked on mine..i had lesbian affairs ..got off on my partmer slapping the sims i kissed and when one particular character i invented pissed me off as she would *not* co-operate.
I made her a one square patch in the garden four walls no dooor....... gave her clown pictures on each wall that she hated and watched her go slowly insane while i flirted with her husband and moved him into my house, eventually she urinated all over the place...tired to sleep standing but died..then i got an urn an sold it for $5..*LOL*..god i sound a right sadistic bitch!!! i had a cheap house that i ran properly and then cheated on other houses with the money cheat cos i wanted it all!!! i love the expansdion pack cos you can send the couples to bed and it vibrates...hehehehh
*wicked grin*
i think i got my real life frustrations out on that little game...made me itch to get it out now...*L*

I am so proud of myself, I have not played in 24 hrs. That is a record.

Speaking of which....does anyone know the absolute minimum programs that need to be running while playing the sims? mine is running super slow, and I keep deleting things or turning things off, but it isn't helping....any advice?

Minimum programs

I want to reply to Sammyjo's question, but first I need to say that I find The Sims more addicting than I imagine heroin to be. Maybe it's the prissy side of me, but I could care less about the people. I could, however, design their houses all day. There are a few great sites like The Sims Resource where you can download walls, floors, and objects to really get creative with. You can email me for the list if you're interested.

Now, to Sammyjo

I have a super computer, and it runs slow on mine, too. It's a very demanding program. Basically, if you hold down both the CONTROL and the ALT buttons and press DELETE (DEL) once, you will get your close program box. The only two programs you NEED to run your computer at any given time are EXPLORER and SYSTRAY. You can shut down everything else by selecting it and clicking on END TASK.

Most people have several programs on their computer that start up and run all the time - and generally you don't need them. They suck down memeory. You can change this in Windows 95 and higher by going to START > RUN and typing msconfig, then clicking OK.

This takes you to the system configuration utility. Click on the STARTUP tab. There will be a list of programs with boxes to the left that may or may not be checked. If all of them, or a lot of them are checked, you're probably using a lot more memory from start-up than you need to. Virus detection programs are the biggest problems here. If you're not on the net, then a Virus program doesn't need to be running, it will suck your memory dry and conflict with any number of other programs.

If you're not sure what to select or unselect, calling technical support for your computer manufacturer is a good idea. I have a Dell, so I'm lucky that way. The only ones I have turned on from start-up are TASK MONITOR, SCAN REGISTRY and SYSTEMTRAY. Usually, everything else can be deselected, but all computers are different.

Hope that helps ;-)

Thanks...I know all about CTRL ALT DEL...just that I was never sure what I could or could not shut down. I want to make sure I can use the money cheat (LOL)...and once I shut the wrong thing down and my keyboard wouldn't work...ugh!!

Thanks for the help!!!

Yes, it is very addicting. My daughter is hilarious. She's only 6, but she loves playing it. She has her own houses I let her play, the rest are mine....hahaha....but generally, she starts fires, then gets pissy when people die...it's too tragic for her I guess.

We love it though!!! Even if it is sad....hahaha

It's been 48 hrs. now and I still haven't played. I'm so proud of myself. I guess that's my resolution, is to do something other than play the sims.

Why bother? You'll put it down for a while, and come back to it...more addicted than ever :)

Happy New Year

ok cool then...I'm going to go play now

sleep, eat, use, flush, clean up, turn on.....
