The Sheltering Tree

I am sitting in my hotel room in Mobile and I spent yesterday driving up and down what used to be the beach of Biloxi and Gulfport. I am in shock.... When I get back home, I will start a new thread and post pictures of what is left here. Even after you see it, you can not really understand the total destruction that is here. It overwhelms you.
I will be down here for a few more days....

Later

I am so glad to hear from you.....I hope you at least get to spend time with the children and enjoy yourself......Be safe

I know the damge there was worse than in Louisiana but while I was there we drove down and took some pics closer to the Gulf...its frightening to look at and when you see men in biohazard suits cleaning up, it really scares you, I didn't take any pics of them, I was too awestruck to focus.....but to think people lived thru that, they better be on their knees thanking someone they survived........there is a thread on the GB where a guy started posting pics from Katrina and I meant to post a few of mine from Rita but haven't as of yet......take care hon and be safe...

so sad that no one uses this thread.....it is a wonderful idea.........doing the bump for the one who made it and everyone else.......

Prayer Needs

Hi Folks
I have some prayer needs I would like to bring to the table.

There is a guy that I know that needs your prayers and thoughts.
He is dying of cancer. He is married with young children. I have
seen this friend go from health weight to a toothpick. It is eating him
up. He is at a special hosptial at this time for a very special trail
treatment. They really hope this will help him... but I also know,
they know this is their very last hope. PLEASE keep them in your
thoughts and prayers.

Also, having just come for the MS coast, there are many people who
are still struggling with the damage from Katrina. I have never seen
so much damage in my life. It will take MANY YEARS to get them back to
where they were. Many people are living in hotels because there are not
enough places for them to live. FEMA ran out of trailers and places to put
the trailers. They are now sticking them in parking lots of stores that
are no longer there. But they ran out of trailers. They are now up north
in OH, PA, NY, KY and anywhere they can find single wides and then are
hauling them down south as fast as they can. As I was heading back up
to KY, I past 70 single wides heading to the coast. It was like a convoy
of trailers heading to the coast, but that is only going to make a very
small dent to the many people that have no place to go. The people down
there are also battling depression and just a feeling of being lost.
There are plenty of jobs. Everywhere I went, if the business was open
they needed workers. So, please continue to keep the people in New Orleans,
the entire coast of MS and coast of AL. They all suffered. I know people
who think the Gov screwed and has not done enough to help. But at the same time, I saw the damage and I am telling you, it is going to take a long time to see that get better. I know people in FL who are just NOW getting their lives and their homes back together after the hurricanes that hit them 2 yrs ago.
And they say 2006 is going to be just as bad. Lord help them.

And lastly, please be praying for our Troops who are fighting. Let's pray this war will be over soon and they will be home. I know many of you have loved ones who are fighting over there. Thank you and if you write to them... PLEASE tell them, we thank them and we pray for them.

You all take care.. and PLEASE post anything that is heavy on your heart...
