So a person somehow finds out that he/she has the power to psychically detect the lingering sexual energies from a coupling. The person becomes a private investigator specializing in adultery. Maybe also helps the cops out of rape cases. So the person gets on the scene and sees exactly how the sex happened, maybe even feels what one of the two people felt.

That's a real good idea, but overused!
Mine is usually an identical twins scenario, but I think it can be applied here to spice things up.

She can actually experience sexual sensations as well as thoughts.
She can just look out her window, and if someone has done something sexual in the past, she will feel it.

This will overtake her in a crowd, as she starts cumming for no reason, so she has to concentrate her thoughts on one individual unless wanted, and boy is it wanted!

She'll also know what the victim's feelings were in a sex crime.

Ever since this topic came up, I've been reading stories like this, but none that I've read so far have details of adventure and intrigue mixed with mystery and erotica.

It doesn't have to be angel, goddess, demon, half devil, cat girl, pixy, fairy, sexy robot, cute alien, or even mermaid, but something should be mixed with erotica.

I just read a short story of a woman (nurse) who suddenly got the power to read minds.
Although this is a good premise, it still lacked substance.
The power was never explained, and indicates a second chapter which was never written.

I have to admit, it did arouse me in places, but everything seemed forced, and turned me off right away.

Reading minds is not really looking into the past or possible future.
