The sermon today was about leprosy

Few things are a true waste of time. If something is gleaned from it then it wasn't a waste.

Though I am no longer a Christian, I don't begrudge my years in church or Sunday school. Many of my values were shaped there. I developed an appreciation for community there, too.

Gay is the Church's modren day leprosy and it can't be cured by a broad spectrum antibiotic.

Everything I know about leprosy I learned from Thomas Covenant.

well the first reading was on the original Jewish laws on purity set down through moses. if you had it you were to go to your church leaders and tell them than you were to shun all pure human contact letting everyone know that you were unclean. than there was the story of Jesus curring the leper and he was to go to the leaders and show them.

our priest long winded as he is surprised me and said that they had the Jews mistook the teaching on purity to mean that it was really a punishment from god and that we shouldn't look at current day things that way like aids. and he went further in saying that gays and lesbians should not be shunned because of who they are.

Really? You've never had a serman that mentioned leprosy before?

It wasn't just a mention. The main topic was leprosy. Overall it was about prayer for the healing of your enemies (Hitchens and his cancer were a big part of it) but it was taken from 2 Kings where Naaman is healed. We got a good 15 minutes just on leprosy.

Maybe half the Christian denominations give a shit about homosexuality. The other half prefers to leave it up to personal choice. Many won't go near Leviticus.

I prefer the adultery sermons. It providers jackoff fodder.

I don't hear many on adultery or sex. I think maybe I've heard 3 or 4 in my life. Churches outside of Catholicism don't dwell on it too much.

Because they are busy beating on gay marriage. I always thought is odd in church how they single out one sin to beat the war drums upon but forget about the common sin within their own lives.
