I need to get some coffee started and I need to learn to not be the indispensable man at work. The fuckers are trying to kill me. My crew has been out, for the flu (or good weather) and someone has to pick up the slack. I hate overtime!

I'm trying to weasel my way back into junior management after a gazillion years of telling them what we could and couldn't do as a sub. I always managed to do more with less, and that seems to have sales value today.

I really miss my old stimulus gigs. They were right up my alley: shorter workweeks, good money for smart working, intense bursts of hard work followed by a few days off and a few dollars to go do a few things with.


But that was all good experience for the next gig, I'm sure.

Up a bit earlier because I have two kitchen counter tops to replace today. One of them is in an occupied unit. Those are always a trip in themselves. One just has to be careful and particular about getting the job done without fucking up the apartment or its contents.


I always ask that they clear out the kitchen in advance. I've had exactly one - ever - that did what I would call a complete job. I've had some who didn't even get the dishes out of the sink. Seriously.
