I have a friend who always has a positive balance at the power company. She's done it for years. We think it confuses them.

My bill from them this month?

"Amount due: $0.00"

That's funny. Back in the late 60's, early 70's, the company I worked for hired a few programers that had programmed FP&L's first computerized billing system. (AP, AR, GL type shit.) The system would easily handle overpayments and apply the credits EXCEPT if the amount overpaid was exactly 1 penny more than the amount owed. That transaction had to be hand processed. Guess how much they made their checks out for? :)

I moved all of my retirement monies out of a Wells Fargo account that an old employer used for matching contributions. I told them to close the account, but they did this song and dance about Federal Law not allowing them to do it.

Well, this year, the longtime zero-balance statements that I receive on a regular basis suddenly show one cent in my account. They have no idea why, but by this time next year, I may be able to put my two cents worth into my nest egg.

:D :D :D

Are you sure that the Queen hasn't turned into Bones McCoy's ex-girlfriend who was eaten by the salt-lick alien, so at night, she leeches the salt from your body???

I doubted it, too, but it was worth a thought. I sweat like an animal.

Today - Disgruntled: adjective discontented, dissatisfied, annoyed, irritated, put out, hacked (off) (U.S. slang), grumpy, vexed, pissed off (taboo slang), sullen, displeased, petulant, sulky, peeved, malcontent, testy, peevish, huffy, cheesed off (Brit. slang)

Well, perhaps not all of them, and certainly not cheesed off. But still . . .

Happy Saturday!!! I worked three jobs yesterday - damn near 15 hours. The last one included hanging an under-cabinet microwave by myself.

I almost made it look easy.

That can be a fair nut to crack. You really have to have the lift, bolt and reach around fully planned. I've done it before, but this last time, I enlisted the help of a stronger back.

Yep, I remember discussing this with you when you did it. I agreed that help is good. I got ambushed with this one, so enlistments weren't going to happen. But I did have the range out of the way completely, and I could get all my shit prepared and then heft it into place to check the fit. Seeing it was right, I screwed it in and set the range and called it a night.

The contractor called me this morning to tell me the maintenance guys called him this morning to say the microwave is "illegal" because the replacement cabinet I hung over the range is 3" too tall, ergo too low. I guess I could have drawn even more attention to it by making it 3" higher, but fuck that.

Anyway, it's in and it turns green on Wednesday.
