I was thinking.

I came across people who call themselves conservatives and liberals both IRL in Australia and here, on the GB.

But my experience of those who call themselves liberals couldn't be any different.

I personally find that the GB liberals share more similarities in mentality with those who call themselves conservatives over here.

So, to arrive at my question:

Isn't the term "liberalism" as it is employed currently in the US a misnomer? I don't think that your guys are authentic liberals; they sound more like globalists.

The American Socialists (and Fabians) soon discovered that Americans would not vote for the label, so they adopted the label Progressive. Well, Americans quickly caught on to the to idea that Progressive did not imply progress but was in fact just Socialism by another name. Then FDR, in one speech adopted the name Liberal for his party while at the same time successfully relabeling the "classic" Liberals as "Conservatives."

Liberals are not "liberal' in the US they are Socialists. Conservatives are only liberal in rhetoric, when given the opportunity to rule, they just attempt to be smart market-orientated Socialists. The only real liberals are the Libertarians and because Americans have been frog-boiled into accepting a lot of Socialist ideas as normative (when they benefit from them) they don't stand much of a chance in elections because the only bribe they have to offer the voter is less (and more of it).

And why is the US so divided on so many different lines like religion, politics or so on?

Is it manufactured or a natural progression in a specific society with a specific background?

Because one doesnn't see that level of divisivenness in other former Brittish colonies.
Yet despite this and on a personal level, I can say that those americans that I met IRL were more laid back and mellow than other nationalities.

Because we are a large polyglot and widespread people with an increasingly powerful government that can make your life and livelihood a living hell if your particular interests have just lost the last election.

This is why you see all the rage, anger and bitter disappointment, and please note how much of it is aimed at the winners and not the leadership of the losing coalition, because some of the Socialist benefits will be reallocated to the voters of the other side...

It made 67 yesterday, with a breeze, and it was glorious out!!! It's 58 now and that's the high for today. Still, it'll be nice.


I have a small gig this week end to go to. That should be good, too.

We were south of the ice line and that's about all I care about.


Everything is downhill now.


I'm even taking five days of vacation, mostly because if I don't use it, I lose it.

Up north would be nice as Spring is coming, but so much more of our work is down south, so . . . .

I've seen that ice-n-wet sitchy-ation before mah own damn self. IT's a might disconcerting.


Freezing rain is an 'orrible abomination. It comes down like rain and glazes the world in shit-eating ice. I remember one winter many moons past where it freezing rained for three Fridays in a row. It was a travesty, an injustice, and a motherfucking outrage.
