I don't think that it's an aim so much as acceptance of and embracing my path/destiny. There will be no retirement, certainly not in the standard sense. My avocation work will keep me going forever. It just never stops.


I'm not in charge, cosmically speaking.

The avocation doesn't have any retirement plan. If I want it, I keep doing it.


This job I have now, I could do this forever. I might even get promoted.


A friend points out that a lot of people don't get fired from jobs for being incompetent, they get fired for being assholes. Or maybe they get fired for acting like assholes to their managers.


Which is a very silly move, long-term.

We realized that many years ago and began our own retirement plan.



Thanks to my astute (and sometimes lucky) management, we could retire today in much comfort. That being said, the Queen is a paranoid and enough is never enough...

Lord I love her, but she's the person who has to take a vacation to rest up after a vacation, and as you can probably guess, that becomes an iterative process as each vacation only leads to the need for a new one.

So, there's this concept that, when you go to Europe for two weeks to see, say, 12 countries . . . don't!!!


Seriously. See two, maybe three. You can't do shit on the 12-country tour except drive yourself infuckingsane.


Seriously, the kids and I did very little while I was down there, save to visit and to get to know one another better. I know and respect my daughter-in-law now. And I got to visit Junior for the longest period in awhile.


We'll see/do more when I go back, and if I never make it back for whatever, I'm good with this one as a last one.

The last warm day for awhile is today. There is sneaux in the forecast come tomorrow night through Saturday. They have no idea when exactly or how much, and they're all nervous because it's the first one this year. We'll see what's what, and we'll get what we get. Imagine that.

Looks like a lovely day of 30 - 40 degrees. It was pretty yesterday, but late in the afternoon, the wind picked up decidedly and the temps dropped. There's a threat of sneaux still in the forecast, but who knows?
