The little job paid up, and my reimbursement money was directly deposited last night, which is like finding money in the couch cushions. Actually, they pay me mileage, which is nice. That is like free money.


More heat today. The watermelons leave town later today to go home to visit Atlanta, and they are to return Monday with reinforcements.

Home from both jobs.


The truckload of shingles that I got was supposed to go to Hampton. Their roofers are working tomorrow - they have gringos - and mine are on the road to Georgia.


So, tomorrow at the asscrack of dawn, I have to go to work and the distributor will send out a tandem truck to pick up my shingles and take them to Hampton.


I have a semi load, so can you say, 'two trips?" I get to operate the fucking fork lift. And wait in between. FML . . . .

I'm up and getting ready to shove off for an exciting morning of loading a truck and waiting to load it again. No grumbling, just coffee. I went to sleep early last night and slept the night through. A former co-worker has agreed to eet me later to show me how to recycle these heat pumps. for fun and profit, so that'll be worthwhile.


Gimme a minute and a cuppa to finish waking up . . . .


Now, how in fuck's holy name and the name of Allah did you let a fucking snake in the house??? And doesn't it suck that, for all the free tree rats that there are, that you have to go out and buy perfectly good mouse to toss in there for the fucker to eat?

You're not supposed to feed them even wild mice because they've never been exposed to the germs and vermin.

We have forklifts, but it seems quicker just to run with the pallet jacks and there seem to be less fuckups with the freight. Somehow putting employees behind a steering wheel turns them into the equivalent of a texting teenager behind the wheel.

I know fuck-all about snakes, and I like keeping it that way. Besides, if I have vermin, the house full of predators will take care of that for me. It's what they get paid to do.


I suck at operating the forklift. Now, uber-many years ago, I was an amazingly competent backhoe operator. But there hasn't been any practice in the intervening decades.

I have to get moving, too. No idea when this truck is going to get there, but those guys often leave early, so earlier is probably better.


I'm taking myself to breakfast in between runs, and I'm going to figure my mileage while I sit there. Time consuming, but not difficult.

Home, in the A/C at last. It's hot as all fuck out there.


This whole truck and load deal took a lot longer than anticipated - like all fucking day. Meh.


In other news, I made a deal with a guy to recycle all the heat pumps and inside coils and refrigerators and crap. I will get the materials from the subs as they pull them out. The guy and I will strip them down for the good metal and he'll take it and sell it off. We can do the other project, too. That'll be 310 heat pumps, total, with about 10-12% new enough and good enough for resale as used. That should finance a couple of more sporting rifles which would get banned under certain quite possible circumstances to be determined . . . before determination.


Insh'Allah that copper and aluminum recycling prices spike.

We throw way a ton of metal, but none other than me sees the value in scrap. It seems to be a waste of time, like picking up zinc pennies, but I'm talking steel!

Well, we're going to trash the steel because at $0.03/pound, it's not very cost effective after dismantling and handling.


The copper and aluminum and freon, on the other hand . . . can run into some coinage.


Selling the used units for 25 cents on the dollar is the best deal, but we only have the 16 that are of a newer grade that might command sales prices versus scrap prices.


And it's all about being creative and not st00pid.
