Seems there was a thread on this movie some time ago; I finally got around to seeing it.
Very nice! Just from the standpoint of the film itself, it was very well done. Maggie Gyllenhaal was very believable as the essentially-screwed-up young lady who gradually gains a sense of self.
And Spaader was good as the equally-screwed-up lawyer who also learns to grow a bit.
The portrayal of the D/S relationship as something other than destructive was refreshing as well.
