I haven't bothered to read the background from day one of this thread, I have better things to do with my time, so I don't know all of the background of in fighting between you and others and what has happened in the past. Yet, I think it's time you were the bigger man here and apologized to all those you have attacked and insulted. It's time, Jim. You need to take the first step.

Yeah, some of this stuff is funny, but I don't like the personal attacks. I truly don't. I'm offended by some of the recent posts. I've had more than my share of personal attacks launched at me, so I know what it feels like to have posters here attack you. Yet, this isn't about me.

It's time we cleaned this place up and I'm pointing the finger at you. This can and should be a wonderful resource for writers. It is that, of course, but it truly can be so much better.

I think that if you made the first effort, others would do the same.

I don't know what the personal situation is of Selenna nor do I care. It's none of my business but my heart goes out to her if she lost her house to a bank foreclosure. There's nothing funny about that. There's nothing funny about having to move from one place to another. There's nothing funny about this world economy and the plight of those who have to deal with the mess our politicians have made for us to clean up and live with while we do.

What other mail weren’t you getting? When mail didn’t arrive (bank statements, magazines, credit card offers, etc., etc.) didn’t you check?

And just leaving the house like that! What about tax notices? Electricity? Maintenance? Even if you’d decided to just walk away you’d think you’d have at least talked to the bank, the city, checked with a lawyer before you left town. It’s not like you guys are eighteen year olds with no experience…

As to the ‘idiocy of the bureaucracy’ it has to be pointed out that these municipal bylaws are written by people we voted for. And the fact that just about every community in the States not only has them but enforces them is a reflection of the desires of the American home owner.

So we grow grass and ban just about any other landscaping option. Even in our desert states! Hopefully the environmental movement will force the change of some of these laws.

In South Florida, the home of more boat owners than any state in the union, municipality after municipality passes ordinances banning their storage in driveways or backyards! Well, I'm glad you haven't had problems with your mail, but I certainly have. I've been divorced for 4 years, and I still get my ex-husband's mail. I submitted change of address forms twice for him. He claims to have submitted one as well. Yet, everyday, I get at least one letter, bank statement, or other misc. mail for him.

Two weeks ago, I asked the mail man about it. His suggestion? Throw my ex-husband's mail away. He also posted a reminder to himself under the lid of my mailbox. So, this week, I got more of his mail. The reason is that there are 4 different mailmen that cover my neighborhood. They rotate. So, I guess I have to stop each one of them.Oh, well. At least it gives me an excuse to talk to the hot, black mailman. mmmm...
