I'm sure Danielle's "god damn" is dialogue too.

You could answer; "It wasn't me, it was my character-- talk to her! "

Stella, I don't write incest, normally. This is in the Novel/novella cat. The character just got shot at...I think God dammit in this instance is well put.

I'd say "god dammit"-- and I'm an atheist! :D

"I didn't say it, my character did!"

Honestly, I do NOT get it. The times when I've used a cussword during a discourse, and my prune-faced opponent makes it clear that she's won because I said something she doesn't approve of... :D grasping at straws, I call it.

I think the threadmaster has lost his thread. Needle and yarn also. :D

Sane dialog between people in the land of Scouries, who would have thunk it.:D

Bah, it happens all the time. He'll be back to put the trolley to his land of make-believe back on the rails soon enough with some delusional lackwittery :p

I have a question.

I figured this is a good place to ask my question since many of the smart people hang around here. That's not a bash, I'm serious. I respect all who post here.

Anyway, can anyone tell me why we must log in to post our comments to the forum and not log in to post our comments to a story?

Not only must you log in to post a comment on the forum board, but every one of your comments are recorded and can be referenced.

Why doesn't Literotica do the same for story comments.?

I've long supported that those who want to comment on a story must log in and be recognized. Yes, I understand the poster still remains anonymous, yet, at least, we'd be able to follow his or her record of posts to determine if he or she had valid points or was just a basher.

I am always pleased to receive constructive criticism of my stories, so long as it is not part of a personal bash and a score of 1.

I just wondered if anyone else questioned the logic of having to sign in one place but not the other more crucial place, the story.

Thanks to anyone who posts a comment to this question.

From a server standpoint, there's little difference. It wouldn't cause any more or less strain on anything to force a login.

Recent changes have actually trended toward a login as the preferred method. The change to the comment element automatically defaults to your login if you have one. You actually have to click a radio button to post an anonymous comment if you have a Lit ID that you've logged in with recently.

While I could live with login-only comments, I assume that the already minimal number of comments that post would drop to almost nothing. It would be a matter of whether email comments would take up the slack or not.

Hey, since I last posted to this thread, I took a hour hike on the Appalachian trail, fed three cats that wouldn't let me back in the house otherwise, and wrote a 5,000-word + story for Lit. How about you guys? What'cha done with the time?

Straightened up the front room, made supper, watched some History Channel, started the laundry, stared at the pages of several stories in progress and cursed my muse.

Well, before my previous post, anyhow. It was only like two minutes ago. I'm not the frikkin' Flash.

The laundry. Damn. Thanks for reminding me. Thanks a LOT.

Not much.

It was kind of a down day for me.

I had sex with my girlfriend, wrote seven stories for Literotica, painted my house, and fed 1,200 homeless people at the shelter.

It is one of the many mysteries of the site, Boston.

Some reckon there would be no comments at all if people were forced to log in. But really, so many anonymous comments are totally without value, surely it would be an improvement?

I think both commenters and boters should be logged in. If it cuts the number of votes, so what? At least the validity of votes could be tracked more easily, and it might just cut down on the need for sweeps.

It's simple: Forum participants are just that, participants. Readers, on a free story website, do not participate. They merely read and enjoy--in one form or another.

Hey, since I last posted to this thread, I took a hour hike on the Appalachian trail, fed three cats that wouldn't let me back in the house otherwise, and wrote a 5,000-word + story for Lit. How about you guys? What'cha done with the time?

Laundry. Mountains of laundry.

Sad is an understatement

I'm at the shelter every Sunday. It's gotten worse with the present administration.

It used to be the only homeless people were the drunk, druggies and/or the crazies, now it's regular people. People who have lost their jobs, their homes, everything. Now, you see children.

Talk about sad, too many times I've seen dead eyes in a 7-year-old who was too tired to eat. Now, that's sad.

Once, you see something like that, you give more of yourself, but there's never enough time or money.

Cleaned my front room, made it messy again :D did some wood turning, and scratched my head over photography problems. How do I photograph reflective objects, such as polished semi-precious gemstones, without the blue sky coloring them blue? I need to spring for a little diffusion screen, I guess. I looked at a story. I did.

we're looking for comments from our readers, not fan mail...

Hi, it’s your friend Gabby again,

Hope you all had a great weekend! It was beautiful down here in South Florida yesterday and today – high eighties and sunny without too much humidity.

BFW – I was interested to see your question just as I was about to announce the latest ScouriesWorld initiative. A quick answer to your question is that of course the vast majority of our readers aren’t members of the site. They’re not authors! Nor professional critics of the supposedly high caliber that inhabit AHland. They just members of the reading public and we invite them to comment on our stories.

Every author has the ability to turn off comments if he so chooses. The great problem that faces most LITEROTICA authors isn’t anonymous caustic comments (in fact a survey of all comments made for the month of February 2008 found that 92% were positive), the problem is the very few comments most stories receive (the same survey found that the average story received 1.4 comments!). This pitifully low number would fall to even more abysmal levels if we only allowed members to comment.

And while all of us at ScouriesWorld understand that you’ve been under constant attack recently, we believe that we should do everything in our power to encourage feedback from our real readers.

Which is why we’re announcing the following….

We’d just like to announce that in our continuing effort to improve the LITEROTICA site, and given the great success of the 1000+ VOTE CLUB, we at ScouriesWorld are in the process of developing another new list, this one to highlight the greatest LITEROTICA stories, the stories that have attracted the most interest from our readers.

To be titled Literotica’s All-Time MOST COMMENTS RECEIVED list, it will list those stories that have received the most comments.

Our plan for now is to list every story that has received a minimum of 100 COMMENTS (although if not enough stories are found we may eventually have to lower the entry requirement to 80 or 90 comments).

So far we’ve found quite a few stories for inclusion. These include tales by some of LITEROTICA’S most famous authors, wonderful writers such as sarahhh and selena, DG Heat and furrybert, rgjohn and TryAnything, and of course my wonderful boss, james r scouries.

If any of you have a story that has received at least 100 comments, or comes across a story by another author that has hit this number, please send me an e-mail (grand_high_poobah@yahoo.com) or PM me so that said story will be included.

It is our hope to inaugurate the 100+ COMMENT CLUB sometime in the next six weeks.

Thanks all,

Gabrielle L.

thanks for the info

Shit, I really can't hang around here anymore.

I have to get busy and write 100 comments on all of my stories. Let's see, with 400 stories already posted, that's about 40,000 comment I'll have to write.

Thanks for the information, Scouries.

Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have verbalized my thoughts like that. Oh, I know, I'll make them all anonymous comments.

I'll tell you, I've come very very close to being homeless. Twice. Truthfully, the thing that saved me and my family was that we didn't own any real estate.

I rest my case from earlier. Here's scouries dragging the thread back off into looney land.

Anybody with an hour or so to spare could have 100 comments.

Let's get back to laundry, it's more interesting and certainly more relevant.
