It ain't even worth the effort, but all you have to do is count how many posts you've made to your threads, compared the number of people who've bothered to comment, and it's pretty easy to puzzle out where a lot of the "big numbers" you generate here come from.

The sad thing about you is that you know better. It’s easy to ignore people like miss hick or the dumb Texan because they don’t know any better. There’s simply no intelligence or even awareness of the issues. It’s far over their intellectual capacity. You can ignore them and leave them to the likes of young Jerome and his girlfriend.

But you grasp the issue here. In fact you were a loud voice in the debate when the decision to ban chapters from themed contests was first made.

And you understood why that decision was made. Quite simply, as all of us know, later chapters of stories have a huge advantage over new, totally original stories. You’ve gotten rid of the people who don’t like the story while building up a group of readers who like it very much.

And whether you call it a chapter or a serial or a stand alone story based on previous stories the advantage is the same. We all know it. In fact you conceded it when you posted that “fans” start emailing you early in the year asking about the cut and paste “sequel”. And then you email this small group of fans once its submitted and ask them to read and vote on it.

The QUEEN has allowed you to skirt the rule but you know in your heart of hearts that you’re cheating. And so does everyone else.

It’s time to man up darkboy.

Hell, if you hadn't been taught how to bookmark it, you probably wouldn't know where it was either. You're the only one who seems to care about where you place on the list on a FREE porn site.

Just because Scouries is using the "Favorite Authors" list doesn't make it a bad list. I think it's a much more reliable list for a reader looking for an author to follow than anything else going on the Web site. I can see where an author who hasn't made the top 250 would not follow the list until they do make it. But I certainly look at it from time to time, hoping I'll make that last little surge to the top 100.

Not everyone on that list manipulated their way on to/up it. I'd suggest that most didn't. A lot of good authors near the top of that list. I think it's shame that it's tucked away where new readers won't find it.

I’ve been trying to ignore these monthly results this year. But when I saw today’s announcement I decided to check out what’s been winning. The one good thing about these prizes is at least the PALACE is working to announce them in a more timely manner.

Enchanting the Flower Ch 16 doesn’t seem to be up on the site anymore but earlier chapters that remain are Sci-Fi stories.

Out of the 18 winners all but one were later chapters of stories that had been started earlier. And we all know the reason why.

5 winners came from SCI-FI/NON HUMAN and 3 came from both ROMANCE and GAY. In other words about two thirds of our supposed ‘reader’s choices’ came from these marginal, little read categories.​

No, these pretty obvious measures of our “READER’S CHOICES” are ignored under the present regime.

The formula you asked for is can be shown as follows:

Winner= 5%(unpopular category) + 5%(chaptered story) + 90%(ass kissing)

The monthly winners are the highest scoring story of the month in each category. It is as simple as that. Views, votes, comments, and favorites have nothing to do with it. Just more of Scouries sour grapes and bullshit to discredit the owner of the site.

He has never won even a monthly contest in his only category, Incest. He has also never won a year end award, even though he keeps nominating himself. He has never won a Theme contest. He has never won anything and it chaps his ass. He promotes himself as Lit's number one author but can't cut the mustard so to speak.

So it's all sour grapes and bruised ego. Although as big as he ego is, it would take a Mack truck to do the job.

What amuses me is how he peppers this site with dubious statistics like a backward ten-year-old boy inventing numbers to prove why his favorite baseball team should have been in the playoffs, then calls foul at the rather democratic system on lit that follows the Kentucky Derby - first past the post wins in monthly and themed contests.

I cannot see why a highly-rated series that has readers following progress avidly is any more unworthy than trading on awareness of an author's name to the disadvantage of lesser-known writers.

I have a story in the 4.9 range but it only has 28 votes. Honestly I'm happier with the ones that are in the 4.7's but with a couple of hundred votes. Have to be honest seems like that system could use some tweaking.

You know the thing that sucks is that of course this stuff should be fun. I mean we don;'t get paid to write here (except for Scouries and his royalties) and the contests 1st prizes are not exactly enough money to make it that big of a deal.

Problem is like with anything else where there are humans there will be stupidity and cheating. I've been here a year now and it blows my mind that people create Alts to favorite themselves and pad there scores. I mean at the end of the day you know it's not true what the hell is the point? Who are you impressing?

I won;t enter a contest because honestly, although I don;t take the scores to heart, I don;t feel like getting beat up on just because I'm not a writer that another person wants to win.

I mean if I put up a story and some people say it sucks that's fine but I want it to be because they really think it sucks. I don;t want to get a 3. whatever because someones 10 alts gave one one bombs to help their cause. I mean don;t get me wrong I write incest so I do have some trolls of my own but don't need to be swarmed and I think that keeps a lot of people out of the contests. Not worth the headaches.

On the note of contests TX you seem to know a lot about how things are run here. What the hell happened with the 12th annual awards? Looking at the categories I keep seeing different dates for when the voting starts 4/1 4/15 and 5/1 all have come and gone and nothing.

I have to say I was kind of excited because the male character in my series was nominated for sexiest male and from my rough count came out not only with enough nom's to make top 4 but was the highest. tell you what though I even saw the bullshit there as well especially in the influential author thread bickering and Alt's high school stupidity.

I write in the incest category which outside of its own category is pretty reviled by the "high brow" writers around here and I was looking forward to a chance at winning. It looked like I would be up against 3 Jaz Cullen "vampires" so chances would be slim but still cool to be recognized for something but it seems to have dropped. Does this usually happen? Will they just post it when they get around to it?

TX (or drk if he's reading), surely 'alts' voting only applies to things like the annual awards? On the site only IP addresses control votes. My SO complains he often doesn't get a chance to vote because I've beaten him to it. Aren't the sweeps in contests more to eliminate troll votes?

Considering the slowness of scouries to master the 101 of posting to the site, was he really capable of masterminding a web of fictitious IP addresses?

Why not give Nude Day a run? Seems to me the ideal contest for an incest story. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

The aim is to generate as much activity and footprint as possible. The change in the voting system a while back was aimed at reducing the number of red 'hots'. Why? If you are faced with over 2,000 new stories a month a reader has to be picky.

I don't know where you see nominations still open if you look at every category thread Laurel closed the Nominations on 2/28. In her opening thread about the 12th annuals she says voting to start 5/1. I was not here for the 11th or maybe i was (I started writing here 5/2010 but did not even start looking at the forums until months later so no clue what happened last year.

I'm just wondering why they put a date if they are not going to bother following up.

On another note looking at the categories I have to say that "Lit fans" are pretty damn lazy there are authors who are on 1,000 plus favorite pages and their characters received few nominations in any of the categories. You would think the least these people could do for someone who provides entertainment for them is take 30 seconds to vote fro them.
