Somewhere on this board I identified a schism in the Catholic Church as one of the cultural events that would herald a larger separatist movement in the US of A generally.

Looks like the issue the radical right conservative catholics have chosen is the Eucharist.

They would deny the Eucharist to those that are not worthy, such as politicians that are not staunchly anti-woman and her control of her reproductive health.

This would culminate in the denial of this sacrament ot Biden, among others. And those who would administer the sacrament of the Eucharist to such "sinners" would thereby be going against the edicts of the Church.

Rome, and the Pope, do not support this move by the American council of catholic bishops.

I recall that. It didn't make any sense. The American public as a whole does not care much about intra-Catholic-Church politics, and that will not change even if Catholics become a majority. Not even in Italy would such things cause a civil war in this day and age.

Money, pussy, god - that is what wars are fought over.

But not pedophile priest, yeah? Organized religion is really good at being hypocrites. For years and years the Catholic church, especially here in the states have transferred such priests to other places to keep them out of the clutches of the law, essentially aiding and abetting a criminal and fugitive, as well as allowing them to remain as priests AND take the Eucharist.

But they aren't the only ones. the Southern Baptists are debating on whether or not they should investigate alleged sexual crimes committed by their ministers. WTF? If they have nothing to hide, an investigation will reveal nothing FFS.

As far as I'm concerned ANY bishop or other high ranking officer that trys to hide such actions ought to go to jail. If a regular citizen did such a thing they would. Why not a member of a church?

Yes Sir, I am really impressed with organized religion.

Christianity is in most respects a highly sophisticated religion, but there is something deeply primitive in the notion that you can grow closer to God by taking Him inside your body.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio controls the purse strings and the promotions. That's enough; they will line up to kiss his ring.

You're talking about the sip of spoiled grape juice and the little paper wafer aren't you?

Oh, the Eucharist is much more primitive than that. One pays for one’s sin by taking the most precious living thing in one’s possession, publicly killing it, then passing it around to prove it’s dead.
