I happened to be listening to his show when he made the announcement. Prior to his announcement the show progressed without a hint that anything was up, a testament to his strength and professional character. her hadn't spoken but a couple of words and I knew it was going to momentous news. Big shocker.

Before his own problems became public, Mr. Limbaugh had decried drug use and abuse and had mocked President Bill Clinton for saying he had not inhaled when he tried marijuana. He often made the case that drug crimes deserve punishment.

"Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country," Mr. Limbaugh said on his short-lived television program on Oct. 5, 1995. "And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs."

He added, "And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up."

All the famous liberal talk show hosts must be sighing with relief...wait, there aren't any. :)
 
he WAS an ass, but he spoke his mind, and I believe in freedom of speech.

I do not believe he deserved a medal of freedom, however I can understand the sentiment given his current fragile health.

Hey, I just got done paying tribute to Rush a few minutes ago.

Just took a satisfying morning dump. No rage at all when I flushed him down the toilet of history. Felt good, actually. :)
 
About 28 years ago I had a gray market SLC that only had an AM radio. That's what I discovered Rush.
