Do you worry about getting a computer virus from those free porn sites ?

I've watched a lot of vids on porn sites like pornhub, xhamtser, and redtube before and I've always eventually gotten a computer virus from them. So I stopped. I wonder what other people do to lessen the risk of getting a virus from these porn sites. I do have anti-virus software, but I don't think it can provide 100% protection. I have gotten the virus somewhat recently where it locks my screen, displays a msg and a voice tells me that I have to pay a ransom or they will get all my credit card information. So far I've been able to just shutdown my computer and once I'm able to close that screen my computer seems ok.

If you look at vids on the free sites, do you worry about viruses ? Personally , if my computer gets a virus (other than the one I mentioned above) I don't know how to fix it so I pretty much have to take it to a shop to fix it. If your computer gets a virus what do you do ? Or do you even worry about it or do you also avoid those free porn sites ?

That happen to Hubby before. Now we just use XNXX.com. No problems for a long time.

xnxx has been reported to be a "safe site". I am skeptical about all the rest.

Malwarebytes is a good thing to run once a week, they also have a rootkit beta that you can look for.

Avast has a boot scan that's also good to run.

Both of those have free versions.

Here's a good site to try and find more information: www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/

In case Lit does not like the URL it's:

www

dot

bleepingcomputer

dot

com

Search for virus-removal.

Word of caution about taking your 'puter to a tech - if they find questionable materials - and they will - that might cause you some problems. You may think you get rid of things - but those pesky temp folders...

Been watching porn online since it was possible to do so; every site you could think of, in American and five of six countries in Europe. I have NEVER, not ever, had one iota of a problem with any of them. And I'v done live
Cam sites, video jerks with some guy in England blah blah. Never a prob. I should say I'm using Mac computers, iMac and iPad, that could make a difference. Also I run "mackeeper" now and then to clean shit up, but that's about it

I pretty much stick to Literotica and a variety of Tumblr blogs. More erotica and porn than I can consume anyhow....

I browse a lot of Porn sites (for story research purposes only, of course ;) ) and I've never had a problem. I stick to fairly well-known mainstream porn sites, and I have the free version of Avast.

I don't visit many porn-sites, but I am hyper sensitive to the risks and use whatever I can to eliminate them. I use Firefox in Private Browsing mode, No-Scripts add-on to identify and selectively allow only enough trusted scripts to get the thing to run...if the site requires a bunch of scripts I'm unfamiliar with, I just leave. Better Privacy add-on for LSO's and their removal, Better Privacy add-on for pop-ups. And I use DuckDuckGo as my home search page. I run MalwareBytes each time I shut down. (did I mention being hyper-sensitive )

I'm glad I checked this Thread, some of the porn clip sites I used to like will no longer pass my safety test, and I've never heard of XNXX.

This is the latest big threat and has caused lots of problems...and not just on porn sites. They are basically thieves who usually demand a payment in Bit-Coin, in order to have them remove it. From what I've read, they treat it all in a "professional" manner and do release your computer in order to encourage their next victims to do the same...the scheme wouldn't work if word got around that payment is of no use, etc. Sounds like you were lucky to be able to shut down. But no doubt the virus is still there, I would do whatever ot took to get it cleaned out. Thanks for the reminder of risks.

Norton 360 helps.

I have been told that an unlocked Amazon Firestick can supply pretty much all the porn Hubs you can think of an some you never have...

When I watch porn I do it on an old computer which has no personal information on it, and am prepared to dump.

XNXX & XVideos.com are my go-to safe *********. If I want to download something, I will use my smartphone first, then transfer it to my laptop. That uses the Android OS as a buffer for computer viruses.
The worst that has ever occurred was a SD memory card once got corrupted. Once.

In a word, NO. I do not worry about getting a computer virus from free porn sites.

I have state of the art computer equipment. My operating systems (both Mac and Windows) are meticulously kept up to date and patched. I run commercial security software for which I am willing to pay and which is kept up to date.

All of that said, I rarely get alerts from well known porn sites about unsafe files though I will occasionally get alert on a pop-up or pop-under (even when running a pop-up blocker).

I find that I am much more likely to get alerts on malicious files or malware originating on political sites and news sites, both conservative and liberal, than I am on porn sites. From what I've seen, and from the viewpoint of a former IT professional, the admins and techs on porn sites tend to be much more savvy than those on political sites and tend to run a tighter ship.

Thanks for the question OP. Another couple questions to add-do you think Tumblr and Lit are virus/malware free?

Does anyone have recommendations on something I could use to "clean up" my phone?

I am frequent flyer on both sites-though I did by old habit visit xhamster-and ended up with that pop-up garbage about a virus. I just closed out but I wonder about my phone's slow performance and the best way to clean it up.

Thanks!

I use only my Windows 8.1 desktop for Lit and Tumblr, for about 2-3 years I think. So far, no virus/malware directly from these sites. I will say that a couple of times I clicked on 'one site too far' from sequential Tumblr blogs and got some annoying popups and later found some 'potentially unwanted programs' in a Malware Bytes scan. I do periodically run MB just to check my system. My anti-virus is the native Windows Defender and it does a good job for me.
