The race baitor.

The advocate of killing white people.

The convicted liar.

The one with no job, nor political experience.

The professional rabble rouser.

Yet he is treated as a MAJOR CANDIDATE by the media.

If the WHITE equivalent.....say a David Duke were to run......would he recieve the same Kid Glove Treatment?

I am sure you all want to discuss this......RIGHT? :D

Hey, no Copy & Paste. Nice work.
;)

But seriously, he's run at least once before (I think more than that). He gets press coverage because he's a colorful character and an interesting interview, but very few voters take him seriously.

Raw Humor

He has run for Mayor and Sen., and both times he got nowhere. That hasnt stopped the press like treating him with KID GLOVES and ADULATION.

He is colorful and charismatic? Yes, he is, so is David Duke! Wasnt he as colorful and charismatic?

Would someone who was WHITE and had the same record as Sharpton be recieving the same treatment from the press?

I dont believe so.

Whats wrong with C&P? I always enjoy reading the thoughts of others. ;)

Would David Duke get the same treatment? Probably not. He might get quite a bit of press, however, because he is a controversial figure, like Mr. Sharpton.

I have never understood how anyone could possibly view him as a legitimate candidate for public office, let alone President espeically after the entire Tawana Brawley affair here in New York.

Who's Tawana Brawley?

The Democratic party makes clear their principles (or more accurately, lack thereof) by the character of the men they welcome into their ranks. Mr. Elder illustrates it quite succinctly in this brief article. Sharpton is merely the logical successor to Clinton.
Rev. Sharpton appeared as a guest on a CNN program I recently guest-hosted. After I dared question his ethics for falsely accusing a man of rape in the Tawana Brawley case, he phoned CNN executives, and threatened to sue the network and me for defamation.

Tawana Brawley was a 15-year-old girl who was found in upstate New York, covered with feces and racial slurs written in charcoal. Brawley, who is black, claimed to have been abducted and raped by six white law enforcement officers.

Al Sharpton led a crusade making accusations against Stephen Pagones, a district attorney at that time.

The evidence in the case showed that Tawana Brawley had lied, but Al Sharpton continued to defame Pagones in an attempt to gain publicity and noteriety.

He was later found guilty along with Tawana Brawley's two lawyers (Alton Maddox and C. Vernon Mason.

Sharpton was found liable for $65,000 of the total damages, Maddox for $95,000 and Mason for $185,000.

So did she do it to herself or did some other people do it to set up the cops?

She did it to herself. The thought was that she was out partying and didn't want to get into trouble.

She was seen climbing into the plastic garbage bag she was found in. She was supposedly left outside for 3-4 days but did not suffer from either exposure (a few of those days the temp. dropped below freezing and she was not malnourished (no food or water for 3-4 days).

Sharpton played a role in keeping her from testifying. She never claimed any of this "under oath." Sharpton and crew just made the claims and ruined Pagones' career.

Somehow, that just seems SO in character for him.

The end justifies the means.

It was yet another example of Sharpton using race to polarize race relations in NY.

I felt really bad for Pagones, because it took him a long time to clear his name.

Has the Dem. Party been encouraging and supporting him?

I've seen that he's trying to convince the Dems they need him but that's not the same as being welcomed with open arms.

He's an extremist. Hateful and angry. Some of his comments deserve the same derision that Lott's did. They're just at opposing ends of the spectrum.

While the Democratic party hasn't necessarily welcome him with open arms, they have made it a point not to speak out against him and have included him in many things.

Like it or not, Sharpton does have a great deal of influence in the Black community here in NY, as well as in the Hispanic community.

No one can take a black man seriously when he has a conk in his hair (do they still even use that word? Maybe it's called a "process" now  ).

Sharpton needs to grow an afro and stick a fist pick in it. Then he'll look more like a serious thinker and less like James Brown.

LMAO! I actually ran into him in the street one day and his hair is even scarier looking in person. :D

I don't like it. None of these so-called black leaders have ever been elected to speak for us. They're all preachers who manage to get on ballots by pimping signatures from their congregations.

Trust me . . . Most non-church-going black people think these men are at best hustlers, and at worst coons.

Personally, I don't appreciate being represented by a man with feathered hair.

Well, that's where politics fails the people, isn't it?

My intent with this thread was to try

to illustrate the leanings of the press.

While what Lott say May have been offensive......(I say MAY, because his actions as a Senator and a Leader never reflected anything that backed these words).......he was raked over the coals by the press and made to suffer humiliation......

While Sharpton has ACTED upon his vile and evil words.....yet the press DOESNT ever question his actions.....and accords him "celebrity" and "stature" status.....

The press shows itself for what it is.....

Left leaning and biased......certainally out of touch with much of America......and they wonder why they are NOT trusted by the majority.

You may recall '92 when Clinton distanced himself from Jesse Jackson and condemend Sister Souljah.....those two actions helped him win the election.....that he was no longer beholden to the extortion committee......

It is time the Demoncrats step awau from Sharpton.....PUBLICALLY

As the Republicans distanced themselves form DUKE,DAVID.

All you nice white folks out there might be too PC to call Sharpton a coon, but don't worry . . . I'll do it! In fact, I'm about to gear up in my crusade to keep this idiot out of the limelight. Everytime he shows up in the media mouthing off with that perm in his hair he sets the whole race back almost a decade!

As far as Jackson is concerned, everyone knows what Operation PUSH really stands for: Pimps United to Save Hustlers!

(Everyone can see how much I can't stand either of these two by the fact that I'm agreeing with my arch-nemisis, Busybody! )

DocJay

We make a good pair.....You know.....me being the BOSS....the the Underling-Ding-A-Ling....

In truth, I wish that some other Black 'leaders" would put the Jesse and Al duo out of the limelight.....I think their polarizing actions harm race relations.

Hey Doc.....I know you got a temp gig....holding cameras......if its for a porn flick.....can I hold a camera as well.
:D :D  :p

:D :D  :p

It can't happen because any black person with enough sense to do the job doesn't have a congregation of church-goers in pimp suits and big hats to give him the push.

As far as the pornos, you could be the fluffer. ;)

Better the fluffE then the fluffER.

:D

I had a biz associate a while back that was in the porn biz.....He produced a couple of flicks.....I was on a couple of sets.....YEECCHHHH......

Better to see it on video then in person.....

Most of the women are either dumb as nails, drugged or bitch beyond belief.....

Of course some of them on the other hand :p :p :p

I see no reason for race to enter into this discussion. No one mentions that Trent Lott is a white man when he is discussed.

Sharpton is a MAN with seriously frightening ideas and agendas. He is a liar and unethical. He is an embarrassment to the human race and a hypocrite to his clerical calling.

Nothing more need be said.
