The Ranch... Open..

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Josh awakens to the smell of fresh hot coffee so he gets up dresses in jeans boots and a denim shirt and heads down to the kitchen and the coffee pot as he enters the kitchen he sees a lady standing near the stove and assumed she was the cook after helping himself to a cup of the fresh hot black coffee he says 'Good Mornin Ma'am

Penny wakes up to light streaming in the window. Dawn. She stretches and yawns, realizing she is still wearing the clothes she had on last night.

Quickly, she changes into a fresh clothes, and wanders out of her room, rubbing sleepiness out of her eyes.

Coffee! She works her way to the kitchen, and smiles at Carolyn and another man standing here near the coffee maker. She pours herself a cup.

"Need any help in the kitchen, Carolyn?"

She yawns again, and sips her coffee.

"Name'e Penny," she says to the new man....

Howdy Penny the names Josh he replies as he offers her is hand may i get you a cup of coffee?

"Nice to meet you."

She takes and gently shakes Josh's hand .. and lifts her mug.

"Umm.. Just poured some, but thanks."

She grins.

'nice to meet you as well' Josh replies as he firmly but gently grasps ans shakes her hand noticing her pretty smile as she shows him she already has a cup he lets his eyes travel over the pretty lady before him then releases her hand

"Good morning to you. I'm Carolyn, I suppose the term cook loosely applies to me. Glad you have some coffee." She gave him a smile and noticed Penny enter the kitchen too. "Morning Penny. How are you today? The morning came pretty quickly didn't it? Any help is always welcome here." She pulled the cinnamon sticky buns out of the oven and set them on the stove to cool a moment. "So anyone want some eggs, maybe French Toast, what can I get for you all?"

"Scrambled eggs and french toast sounds wonderful. Oh, but you must let me help. If nothing else, let me fix you something, Carolyn."

Penny smiles, feeling refreshed by the coffee and the desire to help....

Occ: I'm heading to bed - this pretend morning shall proceed without me - easily I'm sure. Nite.

Thank you it looks and smells great Josh eats his breakfast and drinks his coffee helping himself to another cup then carries his dishes to the sink he places them into it and decides to go look around and see if there are any chores to be done around the ranch

"Okay Carolyn, just hollar when you need me. Bread, you say? Well ... I will try it, but biscuits and cookies are more my speed in baking."

She grins .. but instantly realizes that by saying that she has roped herself into baking cookies for the Ranch!

Tim slowly wakes up to light streamin in through the window and grumbled. He never was much or a morning person. Stretching, he clambered off his bed. getting himself a quick change of clothes, he dumped the ones he had been wearing in a pile and walked out of his room.

Apologies to everyone, most of you have been to bed and are now in the kitchen either helping to make or waiting for breakfast.

Unfortunately Kat, Sam and George are still in a meeting and haven't gone to bed yet. This happened because LadyChance was working until after midnight my time and the three of us couldn't post together.

Please take a long breakfast, we'll catch up as soon as we can and get the day rolling, the meeting is important to give you all information on whats happening on the ranch.

I am planning on having Michael O'Connor actually stop by and meet folks in the "afternoon" of the current day (day 2), some time before dinner and after his rounds. So you'll probably see the pickup a few more times.

I am writing this with the plea that when time has cranked forward to that point, please someone send me a PM or something so I can post. I have only been getting pinged when someone replies after my post, not after any subsequent posts. I am not on Literotica much during the day, at least so far, so a ping via PM or a tip on how to get pinged after each posting would be great.

Michael O'Connor leaves for work

Anyone looking out the right direction in the morning will see the white pickup with the shell drive out of the O'Connor ranch and head on to the main road. This time it doesn't stop.

"Well sense I think everyone has basically gone to bed, I will take first watch tonight and then tomorrow I can check with old man Dr. Cortland to see if he knows of anyone with litters of pups. They would be good to have around here, maybe even a few cats. I know that will just add to the bill of expenses but they would be able to keep the wild predators away and at the same time if we can find some to train they would help with the cattle."

I felt a sense of relief that Kat had accepted my help, and now that she had named me partner I didn't feel so much like a free loader. I knew Tom's insurance would pay for the bank and help keep the ranch above water for a little while but we still needed to think about long term. Things that would help the ranch pay for itself in the long run.

"If we start off with riding lessons we will need to see about bringing in the mares that can be used to begin with. But we won't want to use the ones we are planning to use for breeding purposes. Just the ones like Ghost and um oh what was the cute little brown one we named after your cat? Cleo... Yeah, if she is still here she would make for good starter lessons. She would be to old to breed now but great for riding. She is just as quiet as what Ghost is, if not a bit more so. That would give us two there, and I am sure there are more out there."

Seeing the pleasure come to Kat's face I knew she had forgotten about the little brown mare that her parents had given to her just before Tom and I had gotten married. It was then that I could feel George looking at me and I stole a quick look his way giving him a slow smile and wink. When he smiled back I felt like someone had kicked me in the shin, the room seemed to brighten. Was this what it was suppose to be like when at first you met someone who might change your word in the blink of an eye I wondered.

"What do you think George does this sound like a good game plan? I mean you are the foreman and I have this feeling that you would know a lot more then I do about how things should be ran."

He'd been listening to the conversation only making a few comments and trying to decide a plan of action. he smiled back at sam when she smiled at him, that smile nearly made him lose what he'd been thinking about on the ranch.

"As far as riding lessons are concerned i agree we need at least two quiet horses, especially if Penny is going to have a go as well as Anna. I would think we need at least four mares to be mated with Damion to give us an even chance of getting a good foal maybe the vey can help there. You've covered the bank problem, I was going to offer Katherin an interest free loan to cover the debt from my severence pay at the last ranch." he hesitated for a few minutes before continuing.

"We need to make sure that we have a learners trail for any riding school beginners. The final jobs are going to take time, we need to see all the cattle and horses are branded, I'm sure Katherin hasn't had time to do something like that on her own. Finally we need to check the fencing as soon as possible, I'm not very happy about letting the stock out if they're going to wander onto somebody elses range. I don't think Mr O'Connor can be in a very good mood at the moment as he didn't turn up for supper as invited." he finished.

"I think we've got an early start to the day and as the livestock haven't been watched for some time I think another night isn't going to matter to much. I think we should all get some sleep and organise the staff we've got in the morning," he said looking at the two girls.

Anna was up at 5 AM. She was always on the go in New York and it didn't take long for her restless nature to take effect. She drove out to the hotel and picked up her things. It was too early to stop at any of the stores so her errands would have to wait.

Anna took a quick shower and dressed. She was glad she had packed some casual clothes and pulled on a pair of jeans and a three-quarter sleeve ribbed top in pale yellow.

She was ready early enough to see people shuffling in for breakfast.

"Hi Penny. Hi Carolyn," she smiled. The early morning smell of coffee made her long for a bagel and her New York Times. She settled for the local paper and sat down to read.

"Let me know if you need a hand with anything, Carolyn," Anna offered.

Kat smiled she loved both Sam's and George's idea's, and suddenly felt as tho everything would be alright. Taking a drink of her coffee, and then setting the cup down stood and said. I agree with you both, they all sound like fantastic idea's The trail is over grown and will need to be cleared before we take them on a trail, but your right we can assign tasks in the morning. Lets all head for bed, and i'll see ya in the morning its going to come Quick..

Taking her cup to the kitchen leaving Sam, and George to find their own rooms she rinsed it out in the sink and sat it on the counter, and then reached over and flipped the switch on the coffee pot shutting it down for the night.

Making her way to her room she gathered up a clean night gown and underweare, and headed for the bathroom to take a shower before getting in bed.

"I agree totally lets head for bed and let tomorrow greet us with some sleep." Smiling to Kat as I watch her head out of the office towards the kitchen. Looking to George as we both stand together in the small room together. A sense of peace stealing over the room.

Offering George my arm in a mocking motion laughing softly with him as I feel like our roles have been switched and now I have become the one escorting the other to their door for the night. "I shall escort you good sir so that no damsels may come a long and steal you away in the night." Merryment dancing in my green eyes as we both head out the door arm in arm. Up the stairs to the rooms above us.

Stopping at the furtherest most room from the stairs, but just across from the room that I had picked out for myself. "Here you are good sir, I prey the bed bugs do not bite to hard and that you find good rest for the night. If you should have need of anything give a yell there are enough brave souls within these walls to come to your aid." Releasing his arm as I step back smiling up at him, I couldn't remember a time that I had felt so alive.

"Sleep well George and we'll see about getting some of the things that need doing done tomorrow. I think we have a good group and things will start to happen." Turning slowly away from him and stepping to my own door, I hear him open his door without looking back. Turning the knob and just before stepping into my own room I smile, "thank you George." Then without looking step into my own room quietly.

Walking over to the bed I slowly remove my own clothing, thinking about the differences between George and Tom. How one added up while the other had come up short. Now that I could stop and think things out, I myself wondered why I had ever gone and married Tom. Shaking my head with the thoughts that I was having, if I began to think of such things now I wouldn't get any sleep at all. Lighting a small candle beside my bed on the stand, I finish undressing then walk to the window opening it slightly to let in the cool breeze. Feeling it brush lightly over my warm skin, in the morning I would see about taking a shower. But tonight was a bit late and I needed sleep more then anything right now.

Moving quietly back to my bed I slip between the sheets, sighing softly once more as I smile and think of George. His eyes dancing with unvoiced laughter, the warmth of his smile. Taking these thoughts and more into my sleep, my dreams filled with images of a George.

George laughed as Sam offered her arm to escort him to his room, he slipped his arm through hers and they walked together up the stairs.

He felt good and the fact that she didn't shy away as their bodies accidentally bumped as they walked up the stairs made him feel even better.

When they reached the end of the corridor he pointed to a room that she'd picked out for him

"Here you are good sir, I prey the bed bugs do not bite to hard and that you find good rest for the night.

He opened the door and watched as she smiled and went to the room straight across the corridor from his. He smiled back and waited until she shut her door before closing his and getting undressed falling onto the bed he slept thinking about the girl across the corridor.

Kat woke early the next day and dressed in Jean's, Boot's, a yellow tangtop and a white longsleeved button up shirt. The button up shirt she left unfastioned and rolled up the sleeves.

After brushing her hair, and pulling it back into a braid she made her way down the stairs. Smiling as she saw Anna, Carolyn, and the others already awke and made her way strate for the coffee. Mornin everyone..Breakfast smell's good. She said taking a sip from her cup enjoying the warmth from the cup in her hands.

Looking at Carolyn she asked. I am sorry i didnt help you with the coffee pot last night hun i was thinking about other matters. Did you get my note?

Morning dawned way to early and before I knew it the rooster outside was promising to be dinner for the night. Moving from the bed slowly groaning about the hour but at the same time knowing that I needed to shower and get an early start grabbing what she need and heading for the bathroom just down the hall.

As I pass by Georges door I wonder if he is up yet or not and then decide that if he isn't then he must really need the sleep. But if he was then shame on me for not hearing the stupid bird earlier. Smiling to myself as I close the door to the bathroom slipping off my robe that I had just put on before leaving my room I adjust the water to extremely hot. Stepping into the spray letting it runs rivers down my body as I just stand there enjoying the warmth seeping into my body.

Washing my long blonde hair thoroughly, then sudding up and rising off. My shower doesn't take long and before long I find myself padding quietly back to my room. I know others are awake by the smell of food and coffee in the air. Grinning I step in the bedroom and begin to dress for the day. My mind constantly going over all that had been talked about the night before. What I needed to get done this morning and who all I needed to talk to before leaving to ride the range with George.

Hurrying down stairs in a pair of faded jeans and a tank top, my boots making loud noises as I walk across the foyer heading for the kitchen. My hair swinging against my back in a long golden braid.

"Morning all good to see everyone this morning," greeting everyone in the room my eyes find who I am looking for the most. Carolyn giving her a huge warm grin, "Oh Carolyn you are such a sweet heart in the morning, do you happen to know if we have any hot cocca? And if so would you please set me in the right direction to find some." For some reason this morning I was in a fantastic mood, maybe it was do to lack of sleep or the fresh smell of morning or maybe the people around me. But then it could have been my dreams from the night before, who knew but I was more then happy to just enjoy it all.

"Oh and Kat by the time I am done with that stupid bird we will need a new one by the end of the day." Giving a chuckle to Kat as I hear her laugh and then groan a bit with the earliness of the morning.

It would help me, one-of-little-imagination, to have some basic appearance info on the characters. Some of you have done this already and so I don't need anything for those characters, but generally I am looking for these items in particular:
a) apparent marital status (do you have a wedding ring on and visible, basically). I am inferring that everyone is single except one character (Anna, I think). Is she visibly married? Or is Carolyn visibly married (she's running away from something I think...)
b) apparent approximate age

George

George woke to the sound of the rooster, looking at the window he could see that it was past dawn. he rose from the bed, then washed and shaved in the water basin in his room. He then dressed and headed towards the kitchen, hoping that there was some hot coffee available.

He hoped that both Katherin and Sam were already up as they had a lot to do that day. He hurried down the stairs and into the kitchen finding that most of the people were already there.

"Sorry I'm late folks," he said. "Oh Carolyn is there any coffee brewing? I'd love some if there is," he added.
