The 'R' rating

Had a curious thought, I know I shouldn't encourage those things but it's early. If our stories had to pass the movie rating's board what would the stuff you write be rated at?

Think about the scenes you have, the things you have your characters do in them.

'R' , Hard 'R', NC17 (who all remembers that one) X, XX, or are you writing the dreaded triple X?

Some of the categories themselves would require a certain rating just to be shown.

I think most of mine would fall in the NC17 through X range.

Where are yours?

p.s. anyone other than me want to rip the fucking cap lock button of the keyboard?

I need more coffee.

X, XX, XXX, and of course a couple of MI's. (Monitor Implodes.) :D

Well, except for the non erotic ones that is. Most of those are PG13 or less.

My question is why is the CAPS LOCK key so damned close to the "a" key. Why couldn't it be closer to say the "z" key. Or maybe it needs a warning buzzer.

It's no good moaning about the keyboard, fellers. It was designed by Mr Scholes a century or more ago.
We're stuck with it.
On the other hand, a firmer spring in the Caps key would help. . . .

Hm, with the right camera framing, I have one story that might manage PG-13: The Day the Earth Stood Nude. I think all the others would require a R or NC-17, though.

Cuurently all my work has a rating assigned to it, so if you visit AFC Stories and look for my work (just see the stories with 'BlackFalcon' as the author), and you'll find out what the rating is for each one.

Most are Fiction MA, with one being Fiction T but it will take a jump to MA as well. (Site uses the ratings from fictionratings.com.)

I only have three posted here. One could be easily done as an R the other two are definitely XXX.

What's the difference exactly? Nudity? Showing genitals? Swearing? Sex?

I would like to get rid of the fucking thing from my keyboard (where I hit it by accident when I am reaching for Shift) and the keyboard of every other fucker who posts forum messages in all caps.

Originally put there so that the pinky finger could depress the caps key, in the days when there were manual typewriters, and all caps wasn't the equivalent of screaming. Now we're stuck with it, because everyone who learned to touch-type was taught to find the caps key where it is. I agree that there should be a warning "beep" when it is locked.

With a couple of exceptions, mine probably barely make it to an "R" rating.

Oh, and that pesky capslock key? Couldn't they make a "disable" option?

With an 'R' rating you can show nudity, sexual contact without genitalia ie a lot of tit's and ass.

A hard 'R' to an NC17 is what you would get on like Skinamax on Friday night. They will show simulated sex, you get to see all of the woman, but only rarely the man.

'X' is a movie where they will show real sex just not overly graphic. Think payed per view cable movies.

'XX" now things start to get a little graphic and maybe even body fluids start to get exchanged. The genitalia are not only shown but displayed. This is usually where you will see a true scene of oral sex as well.

'XXX' much more graphic. This is where you will see your anal sex, double penetrations, strap on between a woman and a man, cum shots to the face, hell you name it it going to be here.

'Oh Hell NO!' not a true Hollywood rating but I think you could say that anything that's illegal to show in the U.S. would fall into this category. Most of these would also not be allowed on this site.

This is of course not the way Hollywood would word their rating system it's just my observations of movies I've seen.

Thank you glynndah you really are a Good Witch. I read this post and remembered I have a programmable wireless Keyboard and Mouse. I looked and sure enough there was an option to turn off the Cap Lock key so I did. The rest of this is typed after hitting the Cap Lock key. (Grinning from ear to ear) That and scuffing the dirt and saying bad words under my breath for not thinking of it a long time ago.

Your new best friend for life.

Ah by this description, my story comes in at a XX. A little less tame than I thought.

I've aimed somewhere around "X", in a "Last Tango in Paris" kind of way. An extra "X" or two occasionally sneaks in.

I object here, XXX has no sex, it has a cock moving in an orifice and lots of fake moans and really bored women. The men aren't far behind, they have to keep stroking when they change position or just doing the one. If the guy can't keep it hard then it sure as hell is not sex.

On a side note, X is the original NC-17, then porn started doing XXX so X went away and we have NC-17. Which isn't really what it means, it means nobody under 17 unless their parents are standing there. Parents don't have to watch the same movie, they just have to get the tickets with him or her. Nominally they need an adult in attendance with them but once they get the tickets nobody checks.

Anyway, back to the thread idea. I actually don't know what mine are rated at. I'm not terribly sure anybody else does either, besides a few I don't really get feedback but eh I don't care. I write the damn things because I want to and I think I'm good at it. Most of the feedback I got is about grammar and that was simply Word being brainless on uses for commas.

My stories would probably get an A rating, but not more. Pretty tame eh?

Interesting topic

I read a lot of LW stuff, the dramatic kind. Most of that could be PG-13 (for language, adult situations and mild violence), or maybe R, depending upon camera angles. I tend to like my smut (Ex/Voy and EC mainly) in the hard-R or NC-17 categories. Reading paragraph after paragraph about the minutae of tongues slogging through anal rings and the like just sort of bores me. I like to let my imagination take over (where it attains a X, XX, or XXX rating, as my mood directs).

I smile at the thought of a story showing simulated sex.

John and Jane got into bed and pretended to fuck each other.

Or this:

The genitalia are not only shown but displayed.

As in:

Jane not only felt John's cock sliding into her, she saw it!
