Is this guy still alive? Days and weeks of non stop coverage of the death of one pope, and the election of another. Ratzinger becomes pope, it's world wide non stop headlines, then the guy completely fades from public view.

Seems like JP was always in the news, but you never hear a peep about this guy. What gives?

This pope was described as a "transitional pope" right from the moment that he took the position. He was elected primarily because he wouldn't be as outspoken as JP was, and isn't expected to hold this post for very long, comparatively speaking. According the pope prophets, this is the last pope we'll have before the "false prophet" pope and then the end of the world.

Smoke'em if ya got'em. We're almost done.

His email address is benedictxvi@vatican.va. drop him a line, say hello.

Bear in mind that the US only gets limited news coverage of the rest of the world. He's been hitting the headlines quite a lot in Europe:

The Chronicles of Benedict

One of the most recent things he's been whining about is that Germans have too much fun when they should be concentrating on religion a lot more.

Hmmm... Now let me see - Church or partying?

Unfortunately, the press in the U.S. is only vaguely aware that the rest of the world exists. And isn't very interesting.

NOT TRUE!! I think there's a few islands off of both coasts that aren't on that map. I think there's some land to the north of us, and to the south of us that isn't on that map either. I'm not sure what their purpose is, but I think they bitch about us alot. :D

Well, considering you ripped us off for $5 billion recently, why shouldn't we bitch?

$5 Billion Canadian.... that's what... about $6.38 US? :D
Ouch. :D

Actually, $5 billion Canadian is $4 trillion and 167 billion USD. Don't forget US people like to skip a few numerals to make it seem they have even more than the rest of the world. ;)

I tried to skip a few numerals the last time I payed my Visa bill... they didn't think very much of my accounting practices.

Actually, 5,000,000,000 CAD is 4,150,000,000 USD as of today, but at the rate the Canadian dollar rate is going up (or do I mean the American Dollar is going down ) not to mention the length to which the US International Trade Commission is dragging out their non-compliance using spurious countercharges, that 5,000,000,000 CAD will probably be 6,150,000,000 USD before it gets paid.

The NAFTA (ECC) just ruled that those Canadian Softwood Duties don't grow on trees, you know.
