My journey around Niteflirt started when a friend mentioned her line was open, and I checked out the site. It turns out to be a land of fetishes I never knew existed. Financial domination thrives like WHOA there...and it takes its most intriguing form in a phenomenon called the "ignore line" on Niteflirt.

Basically, an ignore line is where a client pays several bucks a minute while the phone sex operator the client is calling leaves the phone around and goes about life as usual. Some of the comments left on "ignore lines" indicate that the caller was thrilled to hear the operator watching TV, or that she even yelled at him to leave her alone and then hung up.

Now, I get the attraction to financial domination. I'd love to be able to manipulate it. (I tried it once, got a pair of shoes that didn't fit, the end.) If submissives want to dish out cash, more power to the dominants who can weasel it out of them. But financial domination usually results in a commodity exchange - the dominant humiliates the client, or whatever. They at least TALK to the client. But with an ignore line, there is no commodity exchange. The submissive pays the cash, and the dominant does nothing for them in return. In fact, he or she does whatever they want, including talking to OTHER clients who are ALSO paying. (Or doing the dishes, or going to a party, etc.)

So what is it about an "ignore line" that makes it attractive for one to throw one's money away and get NOTHING in return? Even when you give to charity, you get the satisfaction of helping people in need. But you get nothing from an ignore line. It's not even that you get attention, because you are specifically not getting attention.

How does this compute?

I'd say it's the humiliation of spending money and getting nothing in return. Sounds like people who are really into humiliation. I guess. I don't understand financial domination, either, but it's still popular.

It's not getting nothing in return. Believe me, if you muted the phone and laid it down, so they couldn't hear anything in the background, most of them would have a goddamn hissy fit. Most of them still expect you to put on a show for them, even if you aren't speaking directly to them. There's no "ignoring" to it; they are still the center of their own little fantasy.

I could go on a whole rant about "phone submissives," but I won't.

The upshot of it is that there's nothing whatsoever submissive about 99.9999999999% of them, and talking to the sonsofbitches is exhausting. It's all a narcissistic masturbation session, which is fine, of course. It's what they're paying for. But there's nothing submissive about it.

I guess you have to cultivate a following before you can start an ignore line, so they know what they are getting?

Heh, I generally don't like being ignored. But I can see the appeal of it, as in, if you imagined yourself bound, boxed, caged etc, and just.. left, while said Dom/me went about their business. There's a certain objectification to it. You could probably get the same feeling from an ignore line if you really meant it.

Hmm.

Humiliation boner. Only a total idiot would do this, so...

I can get that shit for free. I don't need to pay for it. I'm beginning to think it's just me.

I have a sub that loves to call me and after chatting for a while he just wants to listen to what I'm doing..He goes so far as begging me to lat him hear me sleeping. He says it helps him feel closer..like he is with me.

I dont understand it though..I'd rather hang up with the conversation is over lol

Damn. I'd be *good* at this. They could listen in as I turn the pages of the latest book(s) I'm reading. Or, hell, I could take the phone with me and put it on speakerphone mode while I read in the bathroom, or sit on the porch and read and smoke. Shoot, I wonder if they'd pay extra to listen while I watch "Warehouse 13" or my other shows? They could turn their own TVs on mute, and watch the screen but listen through the phone, and listen to me commentate on how stupid the reality show contestants are or perve out on Claudia!

I'd have to charge extra if they wanted to listen in while I play Texas Hold 'em tournaments, though.
