What an incredibly FUNNY movie. I laughed so hard if I had been drinkin milk...(well you know the rest).

But what about the GLBT crowd? Did you like it or hate it?

Wow, I haven't seen it yet. Plan to this week. Although I have a DVD of the original with Gene Wilder & Zero Mostel, I know I'll probably like the new one!

I saw the Broadway production (post Lane & Broderick) and it was wonderfully funny! Cant' wait to see the movie with Lane & Broderick.
By the way, Lane & Broderick are back on Broadway, in a revival of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple".

Happy New Year All!

I saw the play on Broadway (unfortunately after Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick had left). Then I saw it on a Broadway road show that had several original cast members in it. I also saw the film.

I enjoyed it every time I saw it. It generally works better as a play in my opinion but the film does have Will Ferrell and he is absolutely hysterical as the neo-Nazi playwright.

One minor quibble on the film is that Matthew Broderick grossly overacts and he looks a little too old for the part. It appears as if he gave his stage performance on film and you really have to tone it down for the camera.

Mel Brooks has always used the most flamboyant gay stereotypes in his comedy. It is all so over the top I do not see how anyone can be that upset about it.

I've seen both the original and the new movie. Both were good, but I found it odd how the new one reused half the little jokes, yet completely changed the ending. And it really did look like a play instead of a movie.

Saw the first movie years ago - did not see the play. Saw the new movie last weekend and loved it - but I knew what to expect with all the over the top acting. Am going to see it again in two days with a friend who has not seen it. After hearing the Broadway cast CD I felt Uma was wrong in the part of Ulla that Cady Huffman played on Broadway. The gay humor is great - as a bi-crossdresser myself I just loved some of the jokes.

I like Nathan Lane, so I'll probably at least rent it if I don't see it in the theater. I've actually heard that the reviews from critics have not been that great, but I've never seen it at all so I'd like to at least get to know what the plot is about.
