Not sure how well this will go over or if it will even begin but here goes.

I had an idea for a thread about a ordinary young man who finds out that he has a great latent power within him. At first he is scared to use this power but then something attacks him and the power surfaces and he is forced to use it. He is so horrified by what he does with this power and how it is more than he can handle that he tells himself never to use it again. He does not know however that an evil force was awakened the first time he used the power and knows where he is- determined to take the power and use it for his own means.

I'm not sure what type of thread this will be.... either fantasy, anime or somewhere in between but if you like the idea please tell me and help me get this thing off the ground so to speak.

I like the idea and will be more then happy to help you in any way I can :)

Okay- would you like to help me in writing this until someone else decides to join in?

I would be happy to help you. Just let me know how you want to start this :D

Excellent.

Right, here we go- I fist have to introduce my character.

Name: Jonas Lyonis
Age: 20
Reddish brown hair
Blue green eyes
6' 1"
185lbs
Looks like any normal young man.

Has unimaginable power tucked inside him but does not want to use it as it scares him. The first time he used it was in a battle where he ripped people apart. It scared him so much that he ran away to hide but little did he know that he awakened an ancient evil who wants nothing than to rip the power from Jonas and with it destroy the world.

Name: Nina
Age:19
Hair: Honey brown
Eyes: Emerald Green
Height: 5'9
INFO: Nina is a very mischeivous girl. She knows nothing really of her past. Her parents were killed in a raid and since then she has lived with a long time family friend. She has been taught in the way of healing. She knows much of herb lore and is facinated by all things magical. She is very high spirited with a curious nature that often gets her in trouble.

Let me know if there are any problems

OOC: Nope, not a one that I can see.

IC: Jonas walked out of his home very slowly, trying to avoid everyone. They didn't know what he had done, didn't know what he was capable of and he did not want them to know- in truth he did not wish to know himself. He didn't believe what he had done to those people, every time he closed his eyes he saw how he had killed them with nothing more than a shout. He walked down to the main area of the village and looked at all the places where he was going to get his gear. He had to leave the village and leave it now, he was endangering it by just being here.

OOC: Sorry for not posting.. RL got hectic

IC: Nina stood in the door of the house she shared with her mentor Edgar. She glanced around at the tiny village that she lived in noting with a scowl how boring her life truly was. Sighing softly she carried her basket off to the woods. Time to collect her monthly supply of herbs. Just like last month, and the month before and so one. She kicked at a rock frustrated with her life. It's not that it was a bad one. Far from it, everyone in the village seemed nice enough. And her Edgar was a doll. She had clothes, food and a decent home. But she wanted more. No not riches like most people wanted. She wanted Adventure... she wanted to do something with her life. To visit exotic places and taste exotic food. But it was not to be. She was not foolish enough to think a young women could survive all alone. Sighing once more at her thoughts she began her painfully familar herb gathering.

I'm interested in participating as well, as sometimes unbalanced characters are fun to deal with.
OOC; Name: Lashri
Age: 18
Hair: Long and shiny black
Eyes: Clear blue
Height: 5'6
INFO: Lashri is the recently crowned Sorceror-Queen of the Land, who gained her throne upon her ruthless father's long deserved death. She is a spoilt girl, the kind of princess that should never have become a queen so early. Though she is a capable sorceress, she relies on the great power of the Orb of Illum...but she lacks the skill & wisdom to use it properly. As Sorceror-Queen, she has an army of ugly humanoid soldiers and many of the roughest mercenaries in the Land in her employ. A bizarre curse of the Orb is that no woman or girl may wear any covering or clothing within it's presence...It's creator had made it with this curse in the goal of preventing women from using it's great power. Lashri is incredibly annoyed with this curse, but has been told by her Grand Vizier that to remove the curse would require the soul-binding of a man with True Power. Until then, Lashri wears nothing, and has decreed a death sentence upon any man who looks upon her form uninvited.

IC; Lashri sat naked upon her throne, the baleful red glow of the Orb bathing her face as she held it in her right hand. Her spies had told her of a mysterious young man who appeared to have terrifying magical powers, a massacre had occurred in a distant village. The mysterious young man had killed a regional tax-collector and his guards it was said...but as yet the tales had been unconfirmed. A very well-dressed young courtier in elaborate robes stepped into the throne room and bowed to her. He did not avert his eyes, for he had none...Lashri had ordered that he be blinded, as a kindness, instead of the usual punishment of death. "My Queen", he said, "There is news...the man you have ordered searched for...he has fled, but Captain Fungu has sent word that his men are in pursuit. They expect to catch him within the next day or two..."
"Good...but not good enough", complained Lashri, she ordered, "When they find him, make sure that he is given a painful death...we do not accept the murder of tax patrols so lightly..."

Jonas

He walked slowly into the village, trying to avoid the looks that he was getting from everyone around him. He knew what he looked like and he frankly didn't care. After three days of travel all he wanted was to get some rest and a good meal and most definitely a bath. He walked straight up to the nearest person and asked him where the inn and without saying a word the man knocked him to the ground. Jonas sat there on the ground and watched as the man walked away, his anger growing.

Suddenly he felt the ground begin to shake and he looked around him to see pots and people fall to the ground. Jonas closed his eyes and as soon as he did the ground stopped moving. As soon as he opened them again he saw all the people looking around for the source of the tremor but when they saw nothing they began to pick up there belongings.

You idiot! You have to have more control than that. You could have killed that person! Jonas thought to himself. He then picked himself up and walked down the road until he saw a sign that moved in the breeze that had suddenly sprung up. Taking a deep breath Jonas walked into the inn and hoped that he could get a room.

Captain Straybu

OOC; a very nasty brutal soldier-officer of Queen Lashri's armies. He's 6'11" tall and weighs 38 stone (we're very old fashioned in Queen Lashri's Land...they haven't gone metric yet). A big ugly man, made tougher through magical and alchemical assistance over decades. He really has no respect for the Queen, but his work gives him the excuse to be mean. Cpt Straybu has been given the mission of tracking down the mystery man of magic who massacred one of the Queen's tax collectors and his guards (for tax collector think of legalized thievery without the usual paperwork, and he gets to pocket some of his gains for himself).

Cpt Straybu rides a similarly mutated horse-thing, that's big enough to charge a rhino. In other words, he's genuine villian's henchmen material.

IC;
It was after nightfall, when Cpt Straybu and his two dozen troops (both men & beast-men) entered the village of "Beran" with little fuss, and so quietly that very few even noticed. There was only the softest of noises as they moved in, the horses hooves covered in cloth, and every piece of metal and leather similarly covered by cloth to mask their noise. They wore black robes, hiding the minimal sheen from their dull dark-gey armour. If any observers peeked though a window and noticed them, such folks chose to listen to commonsense and closed their window-shutters softly, pretending to have not seen a thing.

On a quietly given signal, a mere twitch of Straybu's index finger and thumb, his soldiers dismounted and almost silently surrounded the Beran Inn....a simple ramshackle wooden building two storeys high. They made almost no noise at all...almost...

Cpt Straybu stayed back, still sitting upon his huge and fearsome steed. He raised his arm to signal the attack, and paused with his arm still high, his hand open and flat like blade. He considered the situation, but decided it was worth the risk. Likely, he thought, this man they were after wasn't even in this inn...possibly it was some other unlucky fool who fit the same description....but it didn't matter really...

He dropped his arm in a violent chopping motion, and the attack began....

OOC
As far as I know this thread is still open, and we need others to join. So please do so. I need somebody to play the character of Cpt Straybu, because I don't trust myself to be that good at playing a male character...but he's necessary. Another character role that needs filling is the Grand Vizier who advises the Sorceror-Queen Lashri, and I prefer somebody who can come up with cunning villiany and who tries to manipulate the young Queen (for his own ends, or to get his own end in).

Jonas sat up in the bed and wiped the persperation from his face. He had not gotten any sleep, most of his night had been spent tossing and turning on the bed. Slowly he got up off the bed and walked to the window to get some fresh air, hoping that's what he needed. As soon as he opened the window his eyes went wide for sitting there in the street was the most fearsome creature he had seen in his life.

Jonas stumbled back from the window when he saw men moving towards the inn and wondered if they were after him. He almost screamed at himself when he realized what he had brought to the people that were asleep in the other rooms. He walked back to the window but crouched down and watched as the men moved quickly to the inn before he moved towards where his belongings sat and grabbed them.

As soon as he had them all Jonas moved to his room and stood there, waiting for any noise. He took a deep breath when he heard nothing then moved down the hallway to the stairs. He hoped that he could make it out of this place before he endangered it and the people in it. He ran quickly down the stairs and looked around then stopped when he heard the banging sound coming from the door.

He watched as the innkeeper moved to the door and as soon as he opened it ran to the kitchen and hoped that there would be a back way out of this place. As soon as he made it to the kitchen he saw a door and ran straight at it, slamming into it just as it opened. The girl who had just opened the door looked down at him with a half smile before he got to his feet and ran into the alley.

WHAAAAAAT? Lady Siren AND Angelus in one thread??? I must join. I must, damnit!

P.S. Character will be posted later, as I am currently too busy raving:).

P.S.S. But I will be evil. You know that by now:) .

The two soldiers in the alley had been waiting for the signal for the attack, when they saw a young man suddenly dart out of the kitchen-door at the back of the inn.

They looked at each other, before one spoke, "You know...I bet that was the fellow we're after"

The bigger one nodded slowly as the young man sprinted past them without caring, splashing a little mud around as his feet hit a puddle.

"Let's get him then", the smaller soldier said.

They ran after Jonas passing another soldier as they left the dark alley.

"We're after a suspect, tell the Captain!", the big soldier yelled.

Through the narrow alleys of the village of Beran, the two gave chase. Both were very fit, but their armour slowed them down. In normal circumstances they may have caught Jonas easily, but he being unfettered by the weight of armour made a fast pace. Behind him, his occasional backward glances spotted the two soldiers pursuing him. They wouldn't give up.

As he reached the edge of the village and started up the rising slope of the hill that overlooked Beran, he began to hear distant screams, far too horrifyingly clear in the night air. Captain Straybu's men were murdering every man that they found in the Beran Inn. The screams may have been that of women watching their menfolk die...

Nina muttered angrily to herself as she entered the back alley to the inn. She had a home remedy for the innkeeper's sister who lately had been in bed with a horrible chest cough. She stopped abrubtly when she heard a crash and saw a man come barreling out of the back door to the inn and take off. She struggled to stamp down her curiousity but as always her recklessness won out and she found herself following the man. So much for being a sensible woman.

Jonas heard the men following him but the only thing that was going through his mind was the need to escape. He had to get as far away from this village and whoever was after him as possible. He ran as hard as he could until he felt as though his lungs were on fire but he knew to stop would be fatal, for either him or the men following him. He then heard the screams being carried to him in the wind and knew that this was all his fault, he had called it down onto the people in that inn.

With that fact foremost in his thoughts he stopped suddenly and turned to face the men that were following him. He watched them as they moved closer and raised his hands in front of him, trying to stop them but when he saw that they wouldn't he said, "Please don't come any closer. I don't want to kill you."

He heard them laugh and as they did he heard another scream carried to him on the wind. With that his anger won over his logic and a blast of lightning flew from his hands, from his very being and struck the men and the area around them. He watched in horror as they flew through the air away from where he still stood.

OOC: Char
Name: Sluavan Drazir
Rank: Grand Vizier
Alignment: Psychotically evil
Appearance: Wears black robes to conceal his body. After all, what his enemie don't know will hurt them.
Misc.: Extremely powerful in magic. He attempts to subvert the Orb and the Queen to his own designs. Has long sought for a way to bind the Orb to himself.

IC: The Grand Vizier Sluavan stalked into his room. He instantly snapped his head to the shadows. "Come out. Now. Or you shall just be a pile of ash on that floor", he growled angrily. A black cloaked figure stepped forward. "My lord. We have discovered interesting information..."

Cpt Straybu

He sat huge and impassive astride his riding beast, and watched as his men stormed into the Beran Inn. The screams within and the sounds of fighting were evidence enough that his soldiers were at work.

The horse-creature stirred and huffed as a soldier came running up to the captain. The solidly muscular soldier saluted with a quick thump to his chest.

"Sir, a young man was seen fleeing the Inn from the rear entrance", the soldier paused, visibly trying to talk calmly to this huge captain who terrified him, "Two men are in pursuit...Hines and Baldhed."

Straybu merely nodded, waving the soldier away. The soldier quickly took the hint and ran back to the Inn to join in the slaughter.

Straybu sat and waited, watching. This attack on the Inn was as much a test as as a real attempt to capture the wanted man. He'd heard stories that the young man was a magician, so he was more cautious than usual. Soon the noise of fighting stopped, and his soldiers began herding out the women that they'd found and captured. There were also a couple of teenage boys, skinny and ill-fed. They were badly beaten and bruised, one having a very nasty bleeding cut on his forehead that covered his face with blood.

The women were crying, screaming, and doing the usual hysterics, but Straybu ignored them. The two stripling lads might be of some use for questioning, so he signalled that they be bound and gagged.

Suddenly there was a flash of blue-white light on the far side of the village, followed a moment later by a crack that echoed like thunder....

Everyone stopped and looked for the source, and even Straybu was startled. His horse-thing whinnied, and began bucking, but Straybu stilled it with his tight hold, and a harsh word.

Their prey had been in the Inn afterall, he thought, but had gotten away.

In a deep booming voice he ordered, "Send four men to investigate...and question these boys. I want a very clear and accurate description of our prey."

He paused, as soldiers rushed to obey his orders, and the sergeant began yelling orders.

"....Also, let the men take whatever women they chose for the night, we have a long hard ride tomorrow."

He wasn't worried about losing the prey; he could track him down again later, and the four men he'd already ordered to be sent should be able to follow unobtrusively enough. Straybu grunted. He was going to have to send a request for some heavy-hitting sorcerors before attemtping to capture the prey again.

Word later came back that the two soldiers, Hines and Baldhed, had been slain. Their bodies had been broken horribly, and were covered with burns. Cpt Straybu greeted the news with a foul oath.

"When we capture this man, obey the Queens orders to the letter. He is to die slowly and painfully."

Baldhed was one his best soldiers. Was.

Instantly, Sluavan teleported to the location his assassin has given him. "Ah, the mountain. I know you", he whispered to the looming spire before him. He began walking, and a fter a few minutes, saw an opening in the rock. He walked forward, and attempted to put his hand through first, a spell already at mind for any enemies he would need to take care of. However, he never made it. A sound of thunder erupted, and a powerful blast of electricity sent the Grand Vizier hurtling through the air. He stood up, groaning, clutching his aching body. "What the Hell?" he asked himself. he then tried to teleport past the strange barrier, but instead, found himself laying in the same spot, thwarted again. He noticed movement, and looked over, expecting an enemy. Instead, he saw a small rabbit scurrying through the passageway. Suddenly, recognition dawned on him and he teleported back to the palace, muttering oaths and in a rage.

Jonas stayed crouched in the bushes and watched as the man looked down at the two soldiers that he had killed and sent out a curse. Jonas watched the man before he looked at the soldiers and thought, Not again, do people have to die everywhere that I go? Is that my purpose in life?!

He then felt his anger begin to rise and knew that he had to catch himself or the man would know that he was hear. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, slowly bringing his anger under control. As soon as he opened his eyes he breathed a sigh of relief and knew one of two things would happen if he lost control, he would reveal himself and he would then be killed.

He then looked at the soldiers again and told himself that it would not happen again- he would not lose control like that again. He knew that it would be an empty promise but he hoped that he would be able to keep it.

Nina covered her mouth to smother her gasp when she saw the man strike the soldiers with lightning. Her mind didn't grasp the death of the men she was ain awe. Never had she seen such display of power or magic. Bold as ever she stepped into the man's view her eyes meeting his. She was surprised to see a sort of anguish and lonliness that was quickly shuttered at the sight of her. "Hello" she said softly.

Jonas took a step back from the woman and at first he didn't know what to say, didn't know what she wanted but he did know one thing- he did not want to hurt her. Just as that thought came into his head he felt the crackle of energy around her and looked down at the ground.
"Please go, I do not wish to hurt you and I don't know how to control this. Go before I hurt you- go now!"

As soon as the last word left his mouth a wave of power flew out of him and knocked everything down around him, including the girl. Jonas looked down at the girl and said, "Oh no, not again...."

Some soldiers

Sergeant Buggerby was with two other soldiers, knocking on doors, scaring the local villagers, and trying to find witnesses to who or what had killed Hines and Baldhed.

Damn stupid yokels, he thought, Or damn sneaky yokels.
He wasn't sure which, but nobody admitted to seeing a thing.

Then a sudden shock of vibration surged through the ground, knocking him and his two comrades down flat. Thatching fell off rooftops, and a rickety toilet shed collapsed into a pile of broken rotted wood.

"What in the Seven Shadelands was that?", Buggerby exclaimed in fearful astonishment. He was acquainted with the mighty blasts of battle-mages on the field of war, but this was nothing like it. As he stood up and looked around, he saw that although the nearest house hadn't collapsed, there was an area of the village to the west where every house had fallen into ruins. People were crying out for help in the darkness, and he noticed the first signs of still burning hearth fires setting the broken timbers alight.

The village of Beran might have to rebuild on the morrow, he thought, because those fires were going to rage out of control quickly. He didn't move to help. Captain Straybu would skin him alive if he neglected his duties.

"Jynes, Bilton? Get up lads", he ordered, "Straybu will want to know the cause of that, and I think it was our prey. Get your bums up off the ground, we have work to do!"

Sluavan telpeorted to the location where he felt the power surge, only to promptly get knocked down by a huge wave of force. He stood up, pompously, brushing himself off. He cleared his throat and let loose a yell. "Straybu!!!" he yelled, looking for the captain.
