Nursing as a (Greco-Roman) profession started as a distinctly male role. It didn't really take on a female dimension until the time of the middle ages and convents of hospitality, and there have always been a strong male presence in the nursing profession. I took classes in nursing at one point. Walt Whitman was a nurse.

The idea of it being "women's work" might have started with Nightingale, but I don't think it really became predominate until the 20th century.

"American public schools educate." TRUE. The fact that the original poster is so uneducated and obviously, hopelessly ignorant, is proof of his own lack of intelligence, not lack of effort on the part of the public school system.
