The pain of being a Philadelphia Eagles fan!

Even without TO, the birds should be able to win the pathetic NFC. What, you think the Seahawks will beat 'em?

The only question is who will beat the Eagles 52-10 in the Super Bowl. My guess is the Steelers (but I'm rooting for the Bills).

Loved your quote here Zach. It reminds me of the old burnt-out rock singer in the movie 'Love Actually' when he appeared on a TV show.

He was asked if he had any advice for the kids out there.

He said, "Kids, don't buy drugs. Become a rock and roll star and have people buy them for you."

Sheesh Bullet.. quit your whining.... hell I'm a CUBS Fan.... now you talk about suffering...

Hell I plan to start saying "Wait till Next Year" when referring to my cubbies... NEW YEARS DAY!!!!

Why wait till April, May or June? Get an early start on defeatism!

I'd start saying "Wait'll next year" already.. but welll it'd have to be "wait till the year after next"..... hmmmmmmmm.... I am talking about the Cubbies... maybe that's appropriate.

Not even gonna talk about my bears.....

Dreampilot:
Hey at least you know your team is going to consistently suck year after year after bloody year. There is never any hint that the Cubbies might take it all.
But the Eagles tempt us every year. They lay out the promise of heaven only to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
With TO we actualy could dream of winning the Super Bowl this year. Okay, maybe it was a bit of a pipe dream, but it was there.
Now you have millions of people in the Delaware Valley who are certain that we will have the door slammed in our faces at the NFC champtionship game again - for the fourth year in a row - if we are lucky enough to make it that far.
And the NFC just plain sucks. There isn't another team in the division other than the Eagles.

I have every right to whine, Dreampilot. You should be able to hear the collective self-pity all the way to Chicago. This city's heart broke along with TO's ankle.

Life sucks and then you die.

Who says the the Cubs don't disappoint?

Two years ago they blew a 3-0 lead in the national league championship... ONE GAME SHORT OF THE WORLD SERIES! and became the first team in baseball history to drop four in a row in the NLCS. Tell me about pulling glorious defeat right from the furrious jaws of victory!!!!

Last year they had built the best pitching staff in MLB.... they had Sammy.... They had other big bats.... they were supposed to be the best team in baseball....

What happened? Sammy suddenly couldn't hit... Alu had a bad year...

Their pitchers alternated on the Disabled list all year....

And here I was praying the goat was finally appeased! With only ONE day left ... they were tied for the wild card.... when what to my eyes did appear..... poof!!!!.....

Don't tell me not to whine....lol

Last year they had built the best pitching staff in MLB.... they had Sammy.... They had other big bats.... they were supposed to be the best team in baseball....

Come on, you must be dreamin'. Oh, yeah, you are Dreamin, aren't you?

Anyway, it was the Phillies that were supposed to be the best team in baseball. I know 'cause every radio station and Phillies executive told us so from the winter meetings right up until the damn bunch of losers fell flat on their collective faces.

You may have a hair vest, but I'm wearing burlap underwear.

Whatever the hell that means.

Hey man, I'm a damn Redskin fan. At least your boys can score every now and again!

Here it is in a nutshell. Life as we know it is over.

LIfe without Terrel

It's Terrill not Terrel. I know because I made a derogatory sign about him and wore it to the Steelers/Eagles game and I got the pics to prove it (where, I may remind you, the Steelers kicked Eagles butt all over the field WITH T.O. The only thing T.O. did in that game was chase Donovan on the sidelines asking him what kind of soup they were having for supper.

You know, I think God punished T.O. for doing that smutty commercial for Monday Night Football. The Steelers are God's team. Why, the heathens made Big Ben take PJF (Play for Jesus) off his uniform. You may have noticed the Steelers don't have cheerleaders prancing around in itty-bitty costumes. I think the Jets are the only other team without cheerleaders. Ever since Joe Namath got six of them pregnant way back when. God punished Joe too. He couldn't even get a smooch off that sportscaster what's her name.

But listen, let me assure you I am praying for the Eagles to make it to Jacksonville.

Sarahh:

I look at it this way, Sarah. After everything you say, the Steelers still have to play in Pittsburgh. That's curse enough.

Don't get all bent out of shape because of the game between the Steelers and the Eagles during the regular season. The Eagles were due for a bad game and they had it. It was their only poor performance all year (last Monday night doesn't count, they played their subs almost the entire game).

The Steelers don't have cheerleaders in itty-bitty costumes because they would end up covered in smut. No, better not to expose innocent young girls to the Pittsburgh environment. Leave that to the fans. They carry towels around to whip of the soot.

Not that anyone cares, being that I'm a life long Redskin fan, but here's my two cents anyway......

The TO injury is huge. But, the Eagles still play in a watered down NFC (keep in mind I'm an NFC guy). Even without TO, they are still a better team than last year. But without TO, they are vulnerable. In my opinion, the most dangerous team in the NFC right now is Carolina.

Pittsburgh on the other hand has been cruising. They have homefield advantage throughout the playoff's Everything looks peachy for the Steelers right? Well it will be infinitely more dificult for Pittsburgh to reach Jax than the Eagles. I know you have to go through Pittsburgh to get there, but look at the teams in the AFC. Indianapolis, San Diego, and New England..... yeah the Patriots. I'm sorry, but my money is on the Patriots...... a pissed of Patriot team mind you.

So it looks like New England vs. Carolina. The first .500 team to ever make it to the Super Bowl! *LOL* Hey I am from South Carolina, and with the Redskins sucking I gotta hang my hat on something right? *LOL*

Wahoos:
I may be whining, but I'm not crazy. Carolina in the SuperBowl. Pardon me while I laugh.

I agree that Pittsburgh has an infinitley tougher time than Philly in getting to the big game. I really think that Philly will make it to the Super bowl despite my whining. Playing against? Who knows? New England, San Diego, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh? All great teams. But the NFC has the Eagles and a bunch of dwarfs. The Eagles will still have to beat themselves, cause no one else can in that division.

Dude, I don't mean to rub it in but I've heard this before. 3 years in a row now your Eagles have chocked.

Go ahead and laugh, my prediction was in fun anyway. But the fact remains, without TO, you team is no better than the rest of the NFC.

btw......

The Braves own Philly too ;)

At least we can still pride ourselves in having fans mean enough to snowball Santa Claus. That's some consolation.

Eagles

Look at it this way:

The Red Sox did it.

The Bullets were 1-9; you can't get much worse.

With a good bailbondsman, you could borrow the Ravens.

Dude, I don't mean to rub it in but I've heard this before. 3 years in a row now your Eagles have chocked.

Of course you mean to rub it in. But you misunderstand the original point of this thread. The Eagles neither chocked nor did they choke in years past.

A couple of years ago Donovan McNabb broke his leg in the middle of the season. He came back in time for the playoffs but was a shell of himself because he still had lots of rehab to do.

Last year Brian Westbrook had a serious shoulder injury just before the playoffs, terminating his season. Also several of our key defensive stars were out for the playoffs as well.

This year, TO breaks a leg just before the playoffs. Our team appears to be snakebitten, because each of those players at the time of their injuries were the straw that stirred the drink in the Eagle's offense.

What's different this year? Donovan and Westbrook are both healthy. Even though we've lost some big defensive talent, the backups we've acquired are doing just fine, thanks.

The Eagles have too many healthy weapons to lose to the likes of the rest of the NFC. It says here.

Actually, I really didn't mean to rub it in man. And yes, it does appear that your boys may be snakebitten. My only point is that with TO going down, the Eagles are no longer a shoe in for the Super Bowl. And with your passing game very very diminished, teams like Carolina and Green Bay can load the box and concentrate on your RB and contain your QB.

But whatever happens, it will be alot of fun to watch.

Wahoos1000:

Now we're into a legitimate discussion here. That's the point of Brian Westbrook. You put 8 or 9 men in the box and Westbrook turns into a wide receiver. He gives us options that no other back in the NFL gives. That's why we were so vulnerable without him last year.

The loss of TO adds pressure to a receiving core that isn't very good without him. But changes in the NFL 'bump' rule makes it easier for a pussy like Todd Pinkston to get off the line of scrimage.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Bullet,

I absolutely agree about Westbrook. He is a very dangerous back. But the loss of TO will allow defenses to conentrate solely on him and McNabb. But I just don't see your offense as explosive as it was with TO. Your other WR's are ..... well.... I think you said it best. TO was the guy that could stretch the field. He was the guy that would make the catch over the middle. with the potential to take it in for 6.

Having said that, if defenses bring a heavy blitz, then the screen to Westbrook may be very effective.

By the way, what did you think about the decision to bench all the starters Monday night? I know Madden jumped the Eagles for it. I think alot of fans overlooked the fact that Atlanta did the same thing.

My cup runneth over already. We've beaten Dallas not once but twice, and the first one we drove home more points than anyone has ever scored against them in a home game.

If we lost every other game this season, I would still be smiling.

I agree with all of this statement except the part I added italics to. I submit LaDainian Tomlinson for your perusal. Last year became the first RB in history with over a thousand yards and 100+ receptions.

I still think the Eagles are far and away the class of the NFC, even without T.O.

As long as others stay healthy and they play as they are capable, they should book the flight to Jacksonville.

The AFC is much tougher to handicap.
