Entries for the Summer Lovin' contest have one more day to be submitted but the Halloween contest starts in less than a month:

Halloween
themes: scary stuff, costumes, Halloween traditions (trick-or-treating, etc.), etc.
starts: October 3
closes: October 21
winners announced: October 28

This thread is to SUPPORT and ENCOURAGE authors to enter stories in the Halloween contest. Bring out your dead, your undead, your vampires and ghosts.

There is an advantage to entering stories in one of Literotica's themed contests, apart from the possibility of winning, and that is that your story gets far more exposure and attention than it would normally do.

Some of that attention might be unwelcome, some abusive, but some could be appreciative and helpful.

I've just looked in my Halloween folder. There are two stories which could be finished for the contest but I am not inspired by the other eight drafts in that folder. Some I rejected for Halloween 2015, 14, 13...

I might have to think up some new ones.

There's a story in my WIP folder that would work well for Halloween if I rework it a bit.
It's I/T, so it'll go on my alt account. Probably won't submit anything on this one.

Done except for an editing pass. Its incest, but I think it has different hook than the usual Halloween incest fare.

I've sent the beginning of it to a couple of people for an opinion and both liked it.

I have two started, stuttered stories that are perfect for Halloween. Let's see if I can get at least one finished. :D

I'm excited for this one. I should have plenty of time. :)

Edit: And thank you, Ogg, for starting these threads. They do help.

This is for me the least inspiring contest. Not keen on supernatural or horror themes, I'm left with "it happened on halloween" and that just doesn't make it interesting enough.

Halloween can involve costumes and parties in the dark. That can lead to identity confusion such as not recognising an ex-girlfriend or appreciating that the girl next door is actually very attractive.

I know. But those tales have been written a 1000 times. Nothing wrong with writing version 1001, I just can't find any angle that that inspires me. I

How about: I know who the costumed person is. She knows who I am. We're pretending that we don't know - until we find out we aren't the people we thought we were but someone we had past issues with?

Oh wow really!!! I love Halloween. LOVE IT!
I have some ideas. I do have one story, but it's long, is this for shorter stories? I have one about people exploring an old abandoned house, so maybe that one would work?I'm still putting the finishing touches on it, but I could get it done soon hopefully.

I also have one that takes place on Halloween, so maybe just that one if I can finish it.

No upper word limit, it could be a longer story. Only limits are that it has to do with the holiday and meets the criteria for publishing on the site.

My entry is done. Needs editing.

Is it scary? Not at all. Its like a Gahan Wilson cartoon in words. On a cosmetic level its horrible, on a deep level its funny.

And the likely Halloween connection is that it will be yet another JBJ ghost story--talked about in building (as if none of the rest of us aren't writing ourselves) phrase by phrase and then never materializing.

Sweet!
So if I do submit my longer story then it needs to be submitted as one long story? It's not really long, but it's not a short story.

I want to read this one, I love funny/horror. Me and the kids love to watch cheesy/funny/horror movies.

It will be written under another name like the rest of them.

We'll see. He'll describe the story well enough through monologues on the forum of it building (in "oh my gosh, I'm inventing the wheel; aren't you in awe of me?" tones) sentence by sentence that we'll be able to tell which one is his. But I'm betting he won't put one to a contest scrutiny and vote at all, no matter what name he uses for it.
