The note in a book

Back in college, there was a famous book, Jong's Fear of Flying, pretty sexy tell-all.

Anyway, I decided for fun to start a story and to urge others to do the same. It was a naughty tale of a college girl masturbating for her boyfriend and his roommate. I placed it (handwritten) into Fear of Flying and urged the next writer to add on to the story and keep it in the book. Well, apparently at least three folks did (going back and seeing them), two were clearly written by women, also naughty; then someone took them out.

So, here's the story idea. In a bookstore, like a chain, find a racy romance novel and put about half way through the book a page that looks like the others. In it you say something like, "I want something unusual; a truly stranger sex experience. I'm a young male (make it 20) and I want a woman with some experience and I'm told that this novel appeals to more mature women. If you are that woman, I want you to come back to his bookstore and put a small page in the following book (make it some boring history book that doesn't get off the shelves) telling me about your favorite fantasy with a young guy like me" Then a few weeks later the guy finds the note with a detailed description of how she'd do him on her deck of her house when her husband is away. That she is middle aged and romance novels make her horny. Then she says, if you want more, put a pic of yourself, mostly unclad in the following cookbook in the store. The story heats up from there.

What ideas do folks have? How long do we keep them playing without meeting?

I like this idea quite a bit.

Now I'm imagining what could have been stashed in the books at my college library!

I might have to start peeking in the less-visited sections of the bookstore now. :)

Reminds me of an incident from my distant past.

In the city where I went to University there was a second-hand bookshop, and I knew the owner quite well socially.

On his shelves, under "Miscellaneous" was a hard back book with a bright yellow cover entitled "Fun In Bed". Over the months this became more and more worn, as browser after browser took it from the shelves and looked inside, only to replace it and move on.

When I asked John (the bookshop owner) about this phenomenon he suggested I look at it myself. It was a fairly dreary tale of someone who spent three years in hospital and recounted all the (not very) amusing incidents he had encountered in that time.

Just goes to show that you can't judge a book be its title, but John got a lot of pleasure from watching customers take it down furtively, glance inside it, and then hurriedly replace it.

This is probably a tangent, but... I like this idea, I would just kinda seek to make it a bit more... hmmm... Once a lover took me to a cottage, one of those deep in the woods rental things, and on the coffee table was a book where all the previous guests of the cottage had written everything from recipes to hiking hints as part of their gushing about the cottage. The most salacious thought in the book was from one woman saying her time in this cottage was "magical" for how it brought her and her husband closer. I guess to say that I think your story idea stands a better chance of success if you throw in a bit of whimsy and fate in addition to the erotic. I mean: There has to be something powerful about the book, no?

no, that's an interesting idea. I too have stayed in B&B's where someone has left notes about experiences, good restaurants, etc. One did say something about how much they enjoyed sunbathing in the private area out back, and I thought, what if they told us more?

So, I guess the stories would be of each couple there?

That is a great basis to start with - well done.

I love this idea!

Maybe the B&B/cabin has a discrete note in each room referencing the "Room's Journal." In order to read it, you must agree to post in it. In each room is also a small locked closet with toys and accessories, the key to which is in the Journal.

Imagine a less adventurous couple reading about the experiences of others and away from home, decides to experiment.......
