Jubal_Harshaw said:It was a sad day when Buddy died. My favorite memory of watching him play, believe it or not, was on The Muppet Show. No, not his drum battle with Animal, though that was pretty amazing in itself, but another solo he did on the show. Kermit introduced him and he came out from behind the curtain and drummed on everything BUT the drums. It took him a couple minutes, walking around the stage playing away, then finally he works his way around to the throne and plays it for a minute before sitting down. At that point he stopped and put down his sticks. Simply brilliant.
The only other drummer I ever saw give him an honest run for his money was Neil Peart. Incredible riffs.
EDIT: David Barbarosa of Bow Wow Wow always gets me going too.
Encourage your son. The world needs a new beat from time to time. And you never know where it will lead and who will follow.
BTW: egg crate foam on the walls and ceiling will help isolate the sound from the rest of the house.
