The next Buddy Rich?

Cute kid......

Back in the early 60's (yeah the prehistoric days) there was a drummer by the name of Sandy Nelson or at least i think it was..... He had an album of drum music out called "Sounds of another world." I wore that damned 8-track out playing it. Best damned drummer I ever heard...

I've never tried to Google him, maybe i should... it might be fun to see if any of his stuff is still around...

:rose:

I checked around after i posted but i still can't find the album I loved best....

Sound proof basement huh.... sounds like fun......

thankyouthankyouthankyou.

I had the very good fortune to see Buddy and his band live about 30 years ago and the extended solo lasted 16 minutes, with a very appreciative audience applauding at the right? moments [the cymbal play, high-hat, rimming*] a fantastic night and you brought it all back for me. Thankyou again.

*Rimming is striking the rim of the snare as you parradiddle.

I was never as good as many professionals, but I want to play drums again so much. Unfortunately, I have nowhere to put a set right now.

It just occurred to me that your son could play something even more annoying than drums, sarahh.

He could have wanted to play bagpipes.

It was a sad day when Buddy died. My favorite memory of watching him play, believe it or not, was on The Muppet Show. No, not his drum battle with Animal, though that was pretty amazing in itself, but another solo he did on the show. Kermit introduced him and he came out from behind the curtain and drummed on everything BUT the drums. It took him a couple minutes, walking around the stage playing away, then finally he works his way around to the throne and plays it for a minute before sitting down. At that point he stopped and put down his sticks. Simply brilliant.

The only other drummer I ever saw give him an honest run for his money was Neil Peart. Incredible riffs.

EDIT: David Barbarosa of Bow Wow Wow always gets me going too.

Encourage your son. The world needs a new beat from time to time. And you never know where it will lead and who will follow.

BTW: egg crate foam on the walls and ceiling will help isolate the sound from the rest of the house.

I remember that eppisode. I didn't know who it was though. I need to search YouTube for that clip when I get home tonight.
