Phew. For a second there i thought i was going to see Dillinger's cock or chest on them stamps.............

:D

you wouldn't get them any where near the u.k postal service

I sincerely appreciate humor with a slightly different perspective on reality.

Good thread!! :)

To give credit where credit is due (first I wanted to see if anyone would fall for this and think they were real). These are all from book called THE STAMP ART AND POSTAL HISTORY OF MICHAEL THOMPSON AND MICHAEL HERNANDEZ DE LUNA:

http://badpressbooks.com/index.html

These are two Chicago artists who have created what they call "artistamps," basically to prank the US Postal Service, long noted for its giving, genial nature and rollicking sense of humor.

Thompson made his first "artistamps" in 1991 after reading that "Doonesbury" comics could be successfully used as pstage. He partnered up with de Luna, who began crafting stamps of Prozac pills, condoms, and penises labelled "Tom, Dick," and "Hairy." The artists don't consider the stamps to be pieces of art until they've made it through the mail. Naturally, the U.S. Postal Service has, uh, issues with the endeavor, and USPS marshals told Thompson and de Luna to cease and desist in 1998. Since then they've only increased their output, collecting the best in a coffee-table book (available at badpressbooks.com). When the stamps come back to them canceled, Thompson and de Luna sell them in art galleries for thousands of dollars.

That's an awesome story about those wacky artists.

When I clicked on this thread, I thought it would be about the new Warhol stamps being issued this month. I am such a nerd that I put off buying stamps just so I could get the Warhol ones instead of yet another roll of flags, trains, flowers, or statues. :)

Don't sweat it, I can't wait to get my hands on the Warhol stamps either.
