Mr Morgan had briefly scanned through the file. It was anotherbottom line charity case. His firm accepted nothing but the best, becaus it was the best. Yet somehow his wife had convinced him to leave one slot open for the least likely candidate. He had agreed but reserved the right to nterview adn deny them. He was willing to take ten mintutes out of a day twice a year to keep his wife quiet

She had done well, but she had not done markedly well. That he was even giving her this shot should be enough to let her know, she probably new she didn't have a chance in hell. Then he put the folder down, leaned back in his plush antique leather desk chair. He slid his fingers through his dark black hair, his hands coming together behind his head as he leaned back, the shirt stretching taught over his well maintained frame. In this business people turn to several directions to deal with stress. Lance Morgan had turned to the gym.

He spun around slowly, his eyes dancing over the city before him as he turned, whn he came back to his desk he leaned forward adn buzzed the secretary

"Alice have my assistant Marcus meet me with coffee down in the small board room" he told her, then he stood up, sretched his musclar 6'2 frame, pulled on his black armani coat an headed down to the small board room

He opened the door without knocking, his eyes quickly finding the tall blond girl as she stood next to teh windows looking out over the view. The sound of him coming in had caught her attention adn he locked eyes with hers. His cool icy blue meeting her glimmering emeralds

"Heloo I am Mr Morgan" he said as he reached out a hand

Claire was only tall because she was wearing 3 inch heels but she was quite beautiful. Standing 5'5 with long blonde hair and blue eyes, her breasts were ample at 36C cups and she had a figure most women would kill for or have to have surgery in order to get. She had an hour glass shape and was athletic. As she stood in front of him she smiled sliding her hands down her black dress that was rather short and showed off quite a bit of her legs.

She had been looking out the window when she heard him come speak up. Turning around she smiled to him and her blue eyes stared up at him as she moved forward to took his hand. Shaking his hand she continued to smile as she spoke.

"Thank you so much Mr. Morgan for meeting with me. I don't want to take up to much of your time and I'm so happy to be here today."

She waited for him to release her hand before she would take the seat she was shown to when she first arrived to the small conference room.

Lance released her hand as he gestured

"Please Claire take a seat" he said as he took one opposite her, his eyes cooly sliding over her

"I wanted to welcome you to te firm and make a few things clear for you" he said as he sat back and crossed his arms over his chest

"We both know that there were other applicants with better qualifications, but I love doing a little pro bono work now and again" he said with a smile

"So you need to understand that as of now, you have no life. You are the job, and this job takes al of your time. All of it" he told her, enjoying that glimmer of nervous anxiety in her eyes.

"And I want you to do well, so there is no chance in getting his fame back. He would have been more then willing to grind these interns into the ground

Claire smiled and took a seat crossing her legs at the ankle and watched as he took a seat across from her. Watching him as he spoke she was a bit nervous going into this not sure what to expect from the conversation. She had been grateful for the opportunity to work with this firm as they had so many of the best attorneys here. Listening to him she still smiled not letting on that he was getting to her and his words hurt but she knew she could have done better in school and her job choices so she was willing to take the criticism as it was.

"Yes I'm sure there was but I am so grateful for this opportunity. I'll do anything you need and I won't let you down."

She was an eager one and was true to her words and would do anything necessary to keep this job and would devote all of her time to it. She waited to hear more of what he had to say before she asked some questions of her own.

He watched her smile and listened politely

"Good I am glad to hear that" but just then Marcus entered te room with a tray of cups and a coffee carafe. Marcus was of average height, 5'8, and he had close cut brown hair, small slender glasses over hazel eyes. The shirt he wore was snug and neat, khaki pants well ironed. He came in, setting the tray down politely and quietly. Mr Norgan spoke up

"This is Marcus, one of our newest lawyers. He just passed the bar a month ago and he was an intern here like you. He is going to be showing you the ropes"

Marcus stepped up, reaching out a hand to shake hers, "Hello Claire" he said in a cool polite tone, but his smile and eyes were more than genuine

"There are two more things I want you to know. I am a very busy man, but instill remember my days as an intern, and my boss was a real hard ass, and so am I, but you may come see me to talk. I am here to help you start your career after all" he told her with a smile and a wink, his predatory lawyer demeanor now in play, making his charm practically palpable

"The second thing is that I you don't hold your own and carry your weight, I won't hesitate to show you the door. Are we clear?" He asked her with that genuine seeming smile

"Do you have any questions" Mr Morgan asked after she ha nodded that she understood

She nodded to him and smiled still. Looking up at Marcus she smiled watching as he set the tray and coffee down. Standing up she shook his hand looking him in the eyes.

"Pleasure to meet you Marcus."

She was glad someone who seemed to know what she was going through would be showing her the ropes. Sitting back down she turned her attention back to Mr. Morgan and listened to what he was saying.

"Crystal clear and the only question I have is where do you want me to start and when?"

She was eager to learn and get started not wanting to seem like a slacker in anyone's eyes. She was about to show them that what she has been doing in school wasn't what she was truly made of and she was capable of doing so much more.

Lance smiled at her eagerness

"We'll now, an with Narcus. You two can have a cup or two of coffee while he debriefed you on the Scarlettto case. He will also give you the tour and set you up in his office. After that he will show you the ropes for your research. I expect an in depth portfolio on all the related case history you can find, by tomorrow morning" he said as he stood up, his eyes dipping down the neckline of her dress. Her breasts swelling together, a soft line of pale cleavage forming just before the neckline. He smiled at that. He always did like to have a bit of a looker around, it always made coming to work more interesting. He reached out, shook her hand, then tuned an left

Marcus sat down beside her, sliding her a cup of coffee, his hands were slick with sweat and his nerves were on edge. She wa beautiful, and he could hardly help but notice the way she filled the dress

"So first things first" he said as he began to feel her in on the case history so far with one if their 'chronic' client.

She smiled and nodded eager to get to work. Getting set up in the office she sat down looking over the case file. When he slid the coffee to her she smiled and spoke up.

"Thanks I'm sure we're going to need lots of that."

She took a sip and slipped off her heels and looked back over the case file before looking back up to him as he was telling her about the "chronic" client. She listened intently nodding when it seemed appropriate.

"So Scarlettto has a series of open cases, no pending arrests, but several of his lower tier associates end up on trial rather frequently" he was explaining as she slipped off her heels. He was glad to see her getting comfortable and her little quip about the coffee made him smile

"Yeah I am pretty sure that half of my blood is actually coffee. But I'm sure that's true for just about everyone here. Especially those that work on the Scarlettto files. There are several cases that are quite typical, but believe me, there are some that require an insane amount of hours working case history archives. Unfortunately for you, this case is one of those. Morgan has a quarter of the low tier staff working it. One of Scarlettos nephews has been accused of embezzling money and running a small band of thieves. So for all those incidents we look for case histories to plead down the charges, and at the same time debunking the NYPD's evidence and protocol" he told her as he poured himself another cup. He took a moment to let his eyes slip over the low neck line as she turned her head back to the case file that the state was bringing against the nephew

Soft pale skin swelled up in the low neckline, leading down to an ample bosom that made him smile. Worst case scenario he would have some eye candy to work with. Best case scenario? Well who knew.

"Come on. Grab the files and I'll take you up to your desk"

She listened to him and was looking over the case file as she took sips from her mug. Looking up at him as he told her about the other cases and such. She got a little bit worried and knew well enough those were the types of clients you don't get into their business too much. Do what you can to get them out of trouble and let them move on. A soft smile crossed her lips as she looked up at him and noticed him watching her.

Getting her shoes back on she stood up grabbing her coffee and the files following him to her desk. She wondered what it would be like working in this type of environment with so many handsome men around. Containing herself she stood near him waiting to be shown where she would be getting settled in at to find the case law for the matter at hand.

Marcus smiled at her as she got , noticing her put her shoes back on. He lead her to the elevators and as the doors opened he gestured her in, his eyes gliding over the smooth sultry way she moved. He then followed her in, keying in the 69th floor

The doors closed

" so first I'll take you to our floor. Their is an entire floor for the army of legal aids they have here and as of now you are one of more than forty on this case. The set up is fairly simple. Cubicles all over, but since I'm over seeing you I'll let you have the desk in my office. The aids floor, as they call it, is also where the new attorneys are stuck until they get their first significant win" he told her as they sped down, the doors soon opening. He lead them through the aisles of cubicles to one of the walls of offices

Near the corner of the building he lead her into his. It was spacious with a nice view, because of his impressive ability in finding a rate case file that had allowed their client to walk.

The view was impressive and the office had glass desks in the center and a small aids desk along one wall

"Go ahead and set your stuff there" he said as he gestured to the glass desk. On it was a stack if files.

"Now read through that stack and find me all pertinent cases for searching trucking warehouses" he told her as he went to his desk, taking his desk and diving into his computer

She followed him to the office and took in the fact that there were so many running around talking with others about the case and there were others that had their noses buried in the computers or in books.

Once they got to his office she settled down putting things on the desk and took her shoes off once again. Looking to him before she started to look through the books and files and asked a question.

"Do you want me to let you know when I find anything or several things?"

She didn't want to bug him at every little thing but didn't want to prolong this if she didn't have to either. She wanted to show them all that she was more capable than anyone is willing to give her credit for.

"Go ahead and bring me the first couple so I can make sure your on the right track, then I'll let you run with it. Around here we divide and conquer, the same general files being compiled by the more senior interns, then handed out. So two or three look over the same set to make sure we have more then one set of eyes going through the material" he told her as he looked up at her

"I think you've got the search and seizure related material. So look for technicalities and the red folder is the report from the actual case, so you know how they did it for our client" he concluded. He was always curious about new staffers. You never knew what they had an eye for. But he had to hand it to Lance on this one. He had an eye for the ladies, and he could see why he wanted to give her a chance

"If you have any questions just shout it out. Don't wory about bothering me. Half my duties are as supervisor so it's my job to answer your questions and make you a better intern for it" he told her with his most winning smile

"I figure your dressed to impress, so you gotta be ready to shock is with the rest" he told her, hoping his compliment would be relieved well, it was an honest one, and not too lecherous

She nodded to him and stood there listening to what he was saying and made sure she didn't have any questions before going back to her work. She could hear others behind them talking and yelling back and forth about some files they were looking over.

"Thanks for your help and I will bring you some cases here in a few. Don't worry I'm full of surprises."

She smiled and sauntered back to the desk she is working on taking his compliment and getting to work. It was no time at all that she found a couple cases that seemed like they would help them.

Getting up she took the files over to him and set them on the desk.

"Ok so I'm clear we are looking for ways to get the client off on these charges correct? If so I think these might help. You see this one is the same as our case and shows how the client got off on the charges and this one shows even more proof of what happened was wrong."

She wasn't really thinking in big fancy word terms at the moment she just hoped what she found was helpful and to show them she could do this job and be successful at it.

It didn't take long for her to come up with a few good hits. Of course he had put a couple of the obvious ones on there, which she had found, and a few she had dig up herself

"Of course we are looking to get them off. But more importantly, it becomes a much weaker case
With the more evidence we can have stricken" he told her with a smile as he leaned back. Giving er a long steady look

"Alright. Now that you have found what we should use. I want you to do the opposite. Look for cases that the state is going to use as precedence for what they did. We can head then off if we can anticipate their case" he told her with a smile

"And for that I am gonna take you to the vaults, well they are more like catacombs really" he told her with a smile. The he glanced at his watch

"It's after 6. All the big wigs are gone. It's time to go casual" he told her with a smile as he unbuttoned his shirt, revealing a snug grey t shirt

"It gets hot down there. So I always wear something underneath that I can strip down too" he too er as he grabbed a couple pads

"Come on. We can take this on ourselves" he said with a smile as he lead her back out into cubicle central. The hub had died down quite a bit, only the interns were left really, at least on this floor. The next floor up would be full of lawyers trudging through all the files that they were screening and compiling here

They made their way to the elevator, and soon found themselves
Stepping out into B5. The lugging was dim, and the air was warm and dry, and there were aisles and aisle of law books

"Just about everything ever transcribed, that hasn't been uploaded. There is actually an entire squad here that is in charge if scanning all this in, but they haven't made a dent" he sai a she ran his hand over his fire head, sweat already building on his skin

"The main boilers are just below us, and practically all the walls have steam pipes running through them" he told her as he began to head down the aisle on the right

She smiled as he looked over what she had pulled up and nodded to him about what her next mission was going to be. She stood back when he stood up and stripped out of shirt and she could see the snug fitting shirt underneath. Biting her lip a little trying not to let ideas get in her head this was business after all.

"Ok lead the way"

She followed him and looked around seeing how this place was when no one was around. It was still busy with people working. She stepped into the elevator with him and waited until they arrived to the floor they needed.

She looked around and her eyes went a little wide seeing it all and had a feeling they were in for a long night on this one.

"Oh wow this is going to take us all night. Will have to remember to bring a change of clothes so I can change next time we are down here."

He smiled at her comment as she looked around

"Yeah. I actually have a spare set of clothes in my office for just such occasions. There is also a place to wash a few floors up" he told her as he began to lead her down an aisle

"These are what we call the stacks" he said with a smile as he gestured at shelf upon shelf of bound books with numerical nomenclature along side the title

"The catalogues have broken it all down into a numbering system I am sure you will get used to. But their is a little...." He broke off as they rounded a corner

"Cove right here" it was a large desk with two computer banks and a half dozen chairs

"These are scattered throughout, each computer hooked up to the data base for you to query through, it also has all of our digital articles as well. On the other side is a printer and scanner for anything you run across" he told her as he pulle out a chair and sat down in front if the data banks

"We are looking for cases that our judge had been on in any organized crime related cases. I think to top off our little report about the case history for the search and seizure, we should do a quick right up on our judges history. You just never know" he told he with a smile and a wink as his fingers began to dance across the keyboard. He occasionally stopped to wipe sweat from his brow, it was probably close to 85 degrees in there

She nodded to him and would remember to bring the extra clothes and leave it in the office when she finally made it home. She listened to what he had to say as he showed her around.

"Ok sounds good I think I can handle that pretty easily."

She smiled a bit and went straight for the computers to start looking up what they needed. As it got hotter and she sweated she took off her jacket and was thankful for wearing something short sleeved and also a tank top under it. She found a few cases and made note of them so she could show him but she was still looking for more. Curiously she had a thought and spoke out loud about it.

"Are we getting a judge that you've had before a someone new?"

She wanted to make sure she was on the right track on her searches.

He smiled at her as she got to work, he hoped she could keep this kind if drive going. The two sat down and got to work at the small bank of computers. He glanced over as she took off her jacket, noting the shirt hug to her full bust. Then he turned back to his computer and jotted down a few case files he wanted to pull

"Oh he has been around for awhile. There isn't a judge left in the city that hasn't sat for one of our cases" he told her with a smile , " We are looking for some kind of pattern. A hint at some possible dirt to use as leverage, or at least a good angle of approach when we deal with him" he told her as he stood up

" I'll be back in a bit, I'm going to go pull some case files" he said as he grabbed his little notepad

" try not to get lost" he called out as he turned a corner and disappeared I to the stacks

She nodded to him and grinned laying some files that seemed to show a judge that sat in on many of the cases that seemed to have some bias going on when it came to evidence being shown. The judge would let the DA admit anything they wanted into evidence but found reasons why the defense couldn't have it dismissed even if it shouldn't have been allowed.

"Ok these will be here for you to look at and I'll find some more files."

She left them laying next to her and went back to searching up more files for him to take a look at.

He smiled at the stack she had gathered. He had looked at a few of them earlier, and she was on the right track

He watched her as he walked away into the stacks, his eyes drifting to the way her backside shifted in her skirt and her chest filled her blouse

"Glad to see your not just looks" he called back to her with a smile. She was on the right track

"This stuff is exactly what I am after. Cases aren't just about the evidence and the case history. It's about the men who try it, and the men who judge over it" he said as he
Turned back to the stacks and disappeared into the maze of law

She smiled to him and continued working and she hit what she would term as a brick wall of information. She blinked not sure if she read this right but she looked over to him.

"Ummm I think this one might be of interest to you."

She would motion him over to the computer and it would be a case where the judge was the uncle of one of the plaintiffs of a case and the plaintiffs won the case because of evidence that was allowed in.

"Wonder how that went undiscovered."

She only found it due to some research on the judge and found some articles of his wrong doings and not stepping down from cases that he should have.

He came back, then stepped over to her at her beckoning. His eyes slid to the line of cleavage that her top showed. He stood over er shoulder and couldn't help but exploit the vantage that gave him of her chest. Her breast were supple and full, the blouse tight, and the few buttons undone to fight the heat let him see her lightly bronzed skin fade to a paler white. And he had to shake his head as she spoke of the case

"Ahhhh, yes he does often fail to recuse himself, and the way he favors evidence towards the plaintiffs is great. As soon as we see how he handles our evidence we will learn whether he is close with anyone on the DA's side, or one of the Scarlettos" he said as he looked atthe case file she had

"Thisnis exactly what I'm looking for" he said as he out a hand on her delicate shoulde, giving it a squeeze

"Good work, keep it up" he said as he let his eyes slip back to her robust top, then he leaned back and stretched. Then he sat down beside he, pulling one of the files he had come back and sliding it over to her

"Look at this an tell me what you see"

She nodded and listened to him and smiled as he placed his hand on her shoulder and gave it a squeeze. Most of the time when a man would touch her she didn't get nervous but for some reason he made her a bit nervous. She felt waves of tingles running over her body and blushed a little wondering where the hell those feelings were coming from.

She tried to concentrate on the task at hand and looked over to him thinking he was by far one of the sexiest lawyers she had seen in a long while. Taking the case he passed to her she started to look at it trying her best to concentrate. Something jumped out at her and she spoke up.

"This is the same judge as the one I just showed you. It seems he once again didn't allow some evidence that could have got our client off."

She kept looking and looked up at him a little frustrated at herself on it cause it seemed like she was missing something but couldn't pinpoint what it was.

"Ok what am I missing on this one?"

He smiled back at he question. He stood up forms moment and stretched. His lithe muscles flexed and rippled under his snug t shirt. The shirt rose a bit and the lines of his cut abdomen peaked through

"What you have to think about is what the judge might gain by who he gave the upper hand to. Sometimes his 'findings' favor the DA, and sometimes the defendant. The real question is why he leans the way he does. Unfortunately we don't have financials for them, but some of these cases go to favor the Scarlettos and some do not. It seems to me that he seems to have a bit of an issue with only some of te family" he said as he slid another file her way

"This one is of great interest. Here he favors neither. Here he seems to actually do his duty. But this was several years ago. And it seems that after this he develops an issue with the family, but he never let's the big fish fry, only the little ones" he told her as he sat down on the table, turning toward her

"God it's hot in here" he said as he tugged at his damp shirt

"You see. He is scared if the family, but cuts then down whenever he can, without causing great harm. I want to know what the Scarlettos have on him" he said as he ran a hand trough his short hair

"I think that could give us some great insight. I think these files are the ones that our lead lawyer needs. The real question is whether it not we should know what's going on n these are powerful people. And this job can be one with more risks then are immediately apparent" he told her as she scoured the pages, and once again he found his eyes admiring her robust curves. She was a quick learner, and quite astute. And quite lovely. He couldn't be more happy to have her as his new aid, but how far could he trust her? What would she do with what she was coming to learn? He wonders as he pulled his eyes from that snug blouse of hers

"What would you ask the scarlettos, or our judge?"
