Is that not the coolest design out there? Cheap and sweet looking w/ DVD burner and wireless networking ability, and fast.

Very drool-worthy. :)

I got an iMac for xmas!!! :) Really a cutie.....even posted a
thread way back on here bragging to the world that I
got an iMac! :)

Picked up one for my daughter, it is a pretty cool little machine.

What color did you get her? Mine is a blue one.... :)

Noooo, haven't you seeen the new iMacs, they don't come in colours anymore, but you should see them. They're awesome (If you bought a computer yesterday, you'll still want the new iMac)

I'm not sure I like the new iMac. It looks funky. The features are great, but the design makes it look like a cheap piece of crap. In my opinion anyway. Why would you want to design a computer after a sunflower anyway?

iMacs arent cheap pieces of crap-they're OVER EXPENSIVE pieces of crap (donning asbestos underwear...flame me you fuckers-i need a good laugh)

Nice Looking

I agree they do look futuristic and pretty damn spiffy also.:D Personally unless I am doing some publishing type stuff though I don`t mess with the macs. They do have the look going for them though. Later.

I'd like to enter it into public record that I am not a fucker.

Beauty stems from nature.

I like the new I-macs.....the design is very cool. Macs are great machines. Use one at work every day. It sits right beside the PC I use too so no I am not some rabid mac fan.

The only things PC's have over them is the MHZ gap. Other than that MACs rock.

Aren't iMacs cute? :)

I see where you are coming from in regards to writing
and publishing and avoiding macs....but they do have
AppleWorks now...and they do make Microsoft Word
for the Mactintosh, which I am going to purchase sometime
soon as 99% of the world uses it!

Hey, hold it.

Mhz != speed

(To but it in non C terms)

The Mhz of a processor does not determine the speed of the chip, it's simply how fast electricity flows through it, and nothing else. It was a 500 Mhz Macintosh G4 that hit the gigaflop mark (a thousand floating point operations per second, it used to be the minimum speed to be considered a supercomputer, however Bush recently changed that so we could sell computers, which, should probably be being turned into missle guidance systems right about now) before Wintel machines running at 1.3. 1.5 Ghz

Bill Gates owns more that a substantial chuck of Apple Computers.
Throw Win2000 For Macs In it and it might be a good thing. (OMG--did I say that...??)

Notice you didn't say XP ;)

I wouldn't recommend XP for a PC, either.
I tried it , I liked it, for a few weeks, then the novelty wore off. Went back to 2000.

i dont think XP for Mac is available yet.....

Nope..no bias at all...each to there own..I just love teasing you Mac-o-philes coz you get so defensive.

I would kill for a white iBook..they are so stylish.

We sell both Macs & PC's at work..so i get the best of both worlds.
Have to admit tho..the PC reigns supreme at home, more games available for it than a Mac.

Out of Mac, PC and Linux, I prefer Linux. But because I like to play games, I go for a PC. Windows 98 at the moment, need a new PC to set up my dual boot with 98 and XP.

There really is no best one out of Mac, PC and Linux. It all depends on what you use your computer for.

When it comes to PC's give me Win 2000.

From what I understand, with minor tinkering you can run OSX on a PC.

Say what you want about the MHZ myth.....all you have to do is run a few 3D rendering tests and you have your answer. When it comes to just about anything else give me a MAC.

Nic,

PS MAC also wins hands down on style points. They have taken the beige box thet ever one else uses and made it into art.

Personaly, I don't like the look of the iMac, I like the normal look of a Tower, and so on. Though some of the nice looking designs are good eyecandy, I prefer the normal look.
I find that the nice looking ones make you buy them because they look good, so in your mined you think it most be a good computer because it looks good. But in some caseses, it is not.

Don't get me wrong, there is good computers what look good. Just don't be fooled by a good looking computer.

Hmm...its a little more than minor tinkering that's needed. At one point Apple was persuing an implementation of OSX Server for intel processors however there has been seemingly little movement with OSX on intel in the past few months. Supposedly, Apple was looking into alternate processors to their PPC including the pentium about two months ago but nothing ever came of it.

I suspect that there is, at most, minimal development going on with OSX on intel as Apple enjoys controlling both the hardware and software far too much.
