there's been talk recently about the US opening an embassy in Cuba and this got me thinking.
how about a story in which there is an island country in the caribbean founded by escaped slaves during the civil war? america had always refused to recognize it as an independent country but has now agreed to do so and is opening its first embassy.
the new ambassador has to be very careful to accept and follow the local customs and here those involve blacks being dominant and in charge and whites being submissive. the local costume involves even white men wearing skirts and heels, which means the new ambassador has to do just that for the embassy ball.
