Here's one I just quite can't figure out....

I have a story, "Suzanne by the Sea", it's in the Romance Category, and doesn't have a whole lot of reads, and doesn't get many new reads.

About a month ago it had 99 votes. Then it dropped down to 97 and stayed there. Two weeks ago it dropped again to 95, and climbed back up to 97. Last week it dropped to 96, then 93, and on Friday it was down to 90 votes. This morning it had dropped down to 88 votes. I just checked again, and it has dropped yet again to 86 votes.

I would love to know what the explaination on this one is...

It's as elusive to me as string theory. No, scratch that, I think I have a better grasp on Einstein. ;)

I think that they do sweeps for different reasons. Some being holiday-ish contests, monthly People's Choice, and maybe they do one on a regular time scheduled sweep. I think most likely it's because of the Valentine's day story contest.

Okay, I'll buy that...but...why are the number votes continually going down. One would reason that once a sweep has been done, that the "questionable" votes would be have been already removed.

What would the reasoning be for a story to have less and less votes with each sweep?

Maybe different sweeps on the same story since your story posted in December? Maybe you got a December People's Choice sweep, Valentine's day contest sweep, and a just for the hell of it sweep? I have no idea, obviously. :D Perhaps if you PM Laurel, she may have a reason. She's pretty good about answering PMs.

There are different types of sweeps, I imagine... IP sweeps, sweeps that take away all the one's... (or all the 2's... or all the 5's... or whatever)... I'd bet she's even got a "known offender" list and does sweeps for those too... who knows how many combinations there are?

Yes, it's frustrating... but I've learned to live with it...

It's just odd...I really don't care, I was happy with the story...I do think it's one of my best...

Oh, you forgot the spinning dart board and blindfolded toss...I'm sure that may be in there too...LOL...

That would explain quite a lot. :D
