OK, since we have the most hated ones, I figured I'd see if there were any that were actually effective (either because they made you want to buy the product, or just because they made you laugh your ass off).

My current favorite...Bud Light (what else?). The friends are gathered in a house, watching a football game. The host asks if anyone wants a beer. Then he bounces the bottle off the floor and it ricochets into his friend's hand. He informs his shocked pals that he had rubber floors installed so they would never again have to worry about breaking a bottle. The rest of the commercial is hysterical CGI of bottles bouncing everywhere and being magically caught by a member of the group.

The commercial ends with an attractive woman coming to the door. The man's dog excitedly runs and jumps toward her, but because of the floor, misses badly and lands 30 feet or so past her in the front yard. Damn thing makes me laugh out loud every time I see it.

Your timing is perfect: The TV just ran one of Haggar Pants' new ads, the one that says, "sometimes you just have return a jerk's dog-crap" and promises to demonstrate "how to put a cellphone where the sun don't shine" next time.

Another of the series features the proper technique for throwing a daughter's boyfriend out the window and promises a future advice on "how to put your daughter in a convent."

They're very un-PC but they feature things that almost everyone wishes they could get away with.

One of mine is the old Snicker's Crunch commerical with the guy traveling to a telemarketing call center and destroying things. Awesome. Something I've always wanted to do.

Then there's the ever-awesome Volkswagon "Time to Un-Pimp the Auto" commericals. Funny shit! I can't remember laughing so hard at a commercial, ever.

The citibank credit card (?) identity theft commercials with the lip synching. "A leather bustier..."

Man-laws.

"Don't fruit the beer."

I love her singing voice...:D

Reebok's Terry Tate...Office Linebacker. Funniest commercials ever. The guy is a huge, big hitting, NFL linebacker. He was supposedly hired by an office to improve productivity. There were several, but I linked the first one. I even saw some high school kids do a parody of it for a project (which was equally as funny).

The Geico commercial with the guy from the movie trailers:

In a world where both of our cars were totally under water...

Payback! This time... it's for real!

GEICO is on a roll with their TV commercials. The series you mentioned, the talking Geeko, and now the cave men all seem to be popular.

Rumple Foreskin

The original Coca-Cola 'I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony'.

Og

The Snickers commercial where the football player thinks he's batman. :D

US v UK V Europe

US adverts don't generally get shown in the UK.

UK adverts are usually confined to the UK.

European adverts, particularly for cars, can be dubbed in different languages and shown across Europe, including the UK.

Favourite UK serial adverts - adverts that depict a continuing story:

Katie OXO adverts
Papa/Nicole adverts for Renault Cars
Gold Blend Coffee
Black Magic Chocolates - James Bond Clone
Bisto Kids

And for sheer panache: the French Dim bra adverts.

Og

I'm enjoying the Marks & Spencer Ads with Shirley Bassey doing a Bond-theme take on Pink's "Let's Get The Party Started." So classy.

Here it is:

But nothing can beat "Sheila's Wheels" and "They're Gonna Taste Great" for me for pure style and panache.

I can't help laughing at the "Terracotta?" punchline in the new Macdonald's ad. Most definitely an ad tailored for Brit humour.

Yes! I love those commercials! So silly, yet very clever.

"Got my car fixed.
It's my birthday.
Fixed my bumper
and my taillights..."

:D

My favorite is still the Milk commercial with the dog and the peanut butter. God that was funny.

There was also one where a squirrel was standing in the middle of the road and a car comes around. The car swerves off and crashes off screen, and another squirrel scampers onto the road and high fives/fist pounds the other squirrel. Priceless.

Terry Tate is some of the funniest shit I've ever seen in commercials.

The Snickers commercial where the football player thinks he's batman.

When I saw this topic I immediately thought of this ad ... thanks to youtube, I even got to watch it again :D.

I absolutely love Kyocera's "Cellphone Karma" series -- especially the jerk at the funeral who gets attacked by a squirrel, falls into the open grave, and the coffin falls in on him.

I just wish that "Cellphone Karma" worked as fast as their commercials depict. :p

My all-time favorite is the Norelco commercial from years ago where Santa sledded down the hill in the triangle shaped blades of an electric razor. It always signaled the start of the Christmas season to me; I miss it!

The Andrex Puppy "So here it is, merry christmas" Advert - always, always makes me smile.

The City KA "Evil KA" adverts, especially the cat/bonnet one.
