The Moon's Shadow

Sahine stared at him, her eyes full of fear, she grabbed his arm, "Mani, you can not destroy all the hunters. What do you plan on doing?" Fear shook her, as a tear moved down her cheek, "Please don't do this, don't leave me, Mani, l love you, if I lose you... " she pushed herself against him.

"I'm sorry, I'll go wherever you want, be whatever you want, don't do this." Sahine looked up at him, "If you do this, then I will come with you."

She wasn't sure what she could do, but she wanted to be with him. Her fear of losing him was great, and she knew it would be dangerous. Pressing her lips to his, she pleaded one last time.

"Mani," she hung her head, "I'll stay here, I'll not ask to leave, I'll give it all up, if you just don't do this." She knew he couldn't control the hunters, he would have to hunt them down. Sahine looked around the wet cave, shuddered and reseigned herself to living with the wolf family.

I was once a hunter, then the hunted, now it's about time, they found out what it's like to be hutned by a ruthless animal... He held her gently and looked down at her. This is not what your used to and its not what I'm used to either and in my own opionion, I want my life back, the way it was before they came to the apartment. I want to be with you, start a family, be as normal as can be... He continued and kissed her, he knew alot fo this was what she wanted as well, he sighed and looked her in the eyes, seeing the tears in her eyes yet the passion as well, he kissed her, he felt her heart beat, even though neither of their chests were against each other. I love you...no amtter what...

She gazed up at him, "I just want you to come back." Sahine had lost so much, to lose him, would kill her. She felt the same things as him. She wanted her life back, she wanted to be a mother, she would deal with the possibilities of a lycan child if and when it happened. She knew in her heart she would love the child, just as she would have loved the one they lost.

Pulling him against her, Sahine looked up, "Will you take me with you?" She didn't want to wait for him to return to her, she didn't want to wonder if he lay dead somewhere, or injured. Images of his body laid out with nothing, but stillness coming from it frightened her, and she wasn't sure what she would do if he failed to return to her side.

"Mani, can I go with you?"

He began to think it over, he didn't want to endanger her. She had so much in life still, yet he had seen far more than he was ever meant to see. He looked down but knew she would still go even if he said she should stay. He looked down into her eyes and nodded. Alright...just stay hidden for a bit, cause I don't want you to come into the battle when there are over 20 or so hunters and huntresses, that could end up bad and I would not be able to save you.

He took her hand and rubbed it, either both their lives would end tonight or they would continue in harmony, either way, they never left each other, no matter what...

Sahine took his hand, kissed his lips. She felt the trickle of fear coarse down her spine. The tremors of doubt and insecurity were just below the surface of strength she tried to portray. She felt his hand squeeze her's, she looked down at them, their fingers intertwined together, his were over her's and she felt his assured prescence absorb into her.

She followed him out of the cave, their bodies tucked tight against the walls of the forest, until they came to the rock that Mani had stared so intently at. Sahine looked to him for guidance and wisdom. She knew how to hunt and kill, she knew how to kill lycans, to kill humans would be something new for Sahine. Could she look into the eyes of a human and take thier life? Sahine hoped she would not have to, she hoped to just be their if he did need her.

"I'll stay out of the way, but only if you are safe."

He turned to her, his strong hands, coaxing her cheek, he pulled her to him as he kissed her lightly and smiled. Honestly, I don't know what you can do, if you can find a way, to take out enough of them, do it. A bow might do the trick, I don't know. But whatever you do, do not take the children's lives. They're are only doing what their parents or gaurdians are telling them to do, they don't know any better. Now let's go and get our future back... He kissed her again, still holding her hand as he moved deeper into the forest and then to the outskirt in which he saw many of the hunters and huntress's. The children were in a van far from the cabin.

He smiled, it was good that they wouldn't be in harms way, though, what struck him then was that once he and Sahine had killed them, what would happen to the children? He imagined the orphanage but that didn't always work out well. In any case, he'd deal with it later. He looked over at Sahine and saw a tear run down her face, he hugged her, the setting sun shining down on top of them. Hide in the tree's, that's the best spot for you and please, be safe...

Sahine looked towards the hunters and huntresses, seeing their numbers, she shivered in fear for her loved one. Only her respect and love for him, kept her from pressing her own will and following him into the dense woods, to help dispose of the hunters.

She moved towards the denser part of the forests and settled into a thick group of fallen limbs, and rotting foilage. Pressing into it she waited. Her heart torn between an act that would kill many, just so they could live together.

Sahine realized suddenly how wrong that was. She couldn't let Mani kill the hunters and huntresses, just so they could have a life together. She struggled with in decision, and made a move to rise from her hiding spot, when she heard a group of loud voices in the forest.

Had he made contact with them all ready? Was he okay? She pressed her head into her knees and shook, wanting only to have him with her again.

He had begun his transformation as she drew from his sight. He groaned as it came to an end and he looked about at the men and woman. He let out a roar as he charged towards them. Many of them turned to look at him and fear, ran into the building. Luckily, they had not set it on fire yet. They had not suspected the attack. He smiled as he charged at them on all fours, he was faster on 4 legs. 2 ran towards the vehicle but he knew they would not be a problem, if anything, they would be the ones to keep the children safe.

He ran towards them, letting out another roar. Many of their voices lifted up into the air, as did his own. His claws extended and dug into the ground as he dashed towards them. Now, half of them had gotten inside, finding what weapons they left inside. They always burnt the remaining ammunition so that if the cops found this place, they wouldn't know what had truely been going on. They found bows and guns, sadly, that was they had to fight with, they had enough ammo to give a man two clips, and a gun with a clip already inside of it. It only took one good shot to kill a lycan but with these guns, it would be incredibly hard to hit him correctly, even for an elder. Though the highest ranking hunter took the silver blade, he perfered it over anything.

By the time they had been ready, Mani was already at the house and had slain two of the hunters, they had blades in their hands but it hadn't done any good. He hated to see the fear in their eyes as he gave the final blow but it had to be done. They took their lives away, now it was his turn to return the favor.

Sahine covered her ears as the screams of pain erupted, echoing through the forest. She felt the ground shudder as it accepted the split blood of the humans. Her head buried in her lap, she logged to hear the end. Shaking with grief and shock, she sat there frustrated. What choice did they have? Did they have one? Would they have found them? The questions ran in Sahine's mind as she tried to struggle with the sounds that filled her ear.

Then there it was. The thing that her mind craved. Silence had descended the forest. Nothing was heard. The sounds of the battle ended, the screams of pain and anguish gone. She lifted her head, looked around. The birds of the forest, quiet. The insects, quiet. Nothing stirred, but the woman in the woods.

Sahine moved slowly towards the camp, fear of what she would see was not enough to hold her back. As she emerged into the clearing of the cabin, she saw the van full of children and what adults did survive, driving away. Her eyes took in the carnage. Blood filled the earth, its color no longer green and brown, but red and black. She looked for her love, her eyes resting on the lycan, his back to her. His body lifted and fell from the heated battle, she called to him.

The animal turned to her, fear shot through her. Taking a deep breath she stayed her ground. This would prove to her, that he could control it. Would her love recognize her even in the heat of the moment, or would she be just another human, another huntress to destroy?

The battle ahd raged on but for some reason, some of the huntresses and hunters seemed to cowar in fear. The ones that gave up, he let go because he knew, they wouldn't be a problem to him. He had killed most of the leaders of the group. The children would have families, luckily. He sighed, still as a lycan. That's when he heard her voice.

He dashed out the front door and towards her and came to a slow stop. He stood on his hind legs, far taller than her, he had gotten closer to her. He looked down at her naked form and let out a huff. He placed his arms around her and felt her hug him, it didn't help the fact that he was becoming harder against ehr stomach. He sighed and transformed back to his human form, while holding her. I love you Sahine...no matter what....

Sahine held him to her, his body now his. She felt her body and his pressed together. She met his lips and kissed him. Her fear melting, as she checked his body for wounds. Not seeing any that needed great attention she held his hand and moved into the cabin.

Her feet walked over the dead bodies that littered the floor. She looked it over, and set about arranging things that would burn easier then other things. "We should get rid of everything here."

Together they gathered up the bodies and soon the cabin was engulfed in flames. They stood watching it burn, she looked to him, "What now my love?"

Now, we live... He said as he transformed once more and got onto all fours. She climbed onto his back and quickly, he moved towards the city. Now that it was night, it would be easier to hide their naked bodies from the civilians. He headed back to her place and once their, he transformed back to himself and stood in the living room, sighing and resting on the couch, feeling slight bristles of pain from the injuries he had but luckily they were not that bad.

Epilouge

Sahine and Mani continued to grow in love and acceptance of each ones differences. Mani's antique shop flourished, while Sahine chose to work along side her husband.

The couple had several children. The oldest two would grow up to become Lycan's just like their father. Each male Lycan grew to search out his own adventures and his own life mate. One settled in Transylvania, and the other found his home in the beautiful islands of Maui.

Their daughters, one set of twins whose blood had been free of the Lycan traight, looked similar to their father. One chose to stay in the city, keeping watch over her parents, fear was never far from them, because not all of the hunters and huntresses had died. The other twin had moved to Scotland, where she began her work on restoring an old castle feared to be haunted.

Their last child, a girl grew into a stunning beauty. The woman was the first female Lycan to be seen in the state of Alaska, in over 2,000 years. She lives her life quietly working on one of the remote villiages in the north, studying the effects of global warming. She was seen one night, enjoying a rare treat of polar bear when a hunter spotted her, now she trys to keep herself hidden from the community at night.
