Two races existed, ours and theirs. She was one of the few, that searched out theirs. She wasn't there to cuddle them, or plead for them, she was there to kill them. Her family had hunted them for years, and for years, the number of them had stayed low, now... something was lurking in the shadows. Someone walked during the day, hiding... like one of us, or perhaps it wasn't one but a hollow of them, a group, a collection.

At first they all thought it was just a serial killer, and that is what she allowed them to continue thinking. She knew though, she had known from the beginning. It was rare for a woman to be a Hunter, a Huntress's. She was unique. Her soul goal in life, was not to get married and have children, but to discover and kill all Lycanthropes. The feud of human and beast dated back thousands of years, when one woman's life was taken by the leader of the pack. The races had coexisted, until one fateful night, that man and beast disagreed and the love of a woman and the lust for her, drove the males to battle. The woman, young and fair in body and in features, loved both men. In her rush to end the fighting she was killed, her blood spilled and flowed free. Who made the wound that killed her? Each blamed the other, though to this day no one knows the truth.

It was her ancestor that perished, and now she leads the legacy of her heritage. Roaming the dark and seedy streets of San Francisco, Sahine O'Conner hunts for the offspring of the beast that killed so many years ago. He is in her city and she will track him, discover him, and destroy him. Each night she returns from her searching, each morning she rises and becomes her other self, a small woman of great intelligence. No one suspects the meek and quiet woman that stamps the artifacts at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, to ever have such an adventurous life. She would change it, if she could, but since her life is forever in danger, Sahine never becomes to involved or close to anyone.

~~~~~
Sahine looked up at the time, just an hour left and she was done with this part of the day. Turning her neck to the right then the left, she stretched the taunt chords of her body. The newest shipment of Asian artifacts had only arrived an hour ago and she had spent the last hour sorting them. Her final hour would be cataloging each piece, this she knew could very well take her past her usual time of leaving, but it was something she had to do. Perhaps tonight she would be able to return home, for a meal instead of feeling the pull to her senses that he was close.
Picking up her clipboard Sahine, moved to the fold out table that held the smaller artifacts, sculptures and paintings. She gently held a piece of one the first groupings that had caught her interest. Sahine admired the porcelain drummer, as her hands caressed the fine detail she looked over the other two pieces. The flute player and the erhu player were both without defects. Placing the delicate piece down, she cataloged each one, noting the date, and time each piece had arrived and where they were best suited in the museum. These particular pieces she enjoyed the most, they depicted beautiful art and fine facial details as well as the delicate designs on the instruments themselves.
The job to Sahine soon became like a child on Christmas morning. She moved quickly through each piece, wrapping them, caressing them, cataloging them. Her fingers felt the cold sculpture of the Giant Foo Dog of the Forbidden City and she could almost feel the eyes of ancients staring out at her. A cold shiver ran through her body and she quickly checked the time. Sahine had worked further then she had been scheduled, but she didn't mind. Allowing her eyes to dart over all the pieces she had uncovered and touched, she shut off the lights, and closed the door behind her. Pausing to hear the swoosh of the door locking and pulling the air from the room, she touched the cold steal surface. Her head pounded and she knew she would have a very bad headache when she got home.
Waving goodbye to the night watchman, Sahine left her quiet world behind and entered the night life of San Francisco. She moved down the sidewalk of Larkin Street and took a deep breath. Sighing softly, her heart skipped happily, "He wasn't here," she thought to herself. Feeling safe her, she allowed her mind to wonder.
Her thoughts took her to the past, when her father and mother were still alive. Both of them had been Hunters. They had both gone out to kill one of the Lycans. Normally the two would not hunt together, it was not the way of a hunter to receive assistants, and both had wanted Sahine to always have one of them to lean on. The night her parents left her, she had sensed they would not return. She sensed many things before, and they had often come true, this time though Sahine had known that before the night had ended her parents would be no more.
As the night had grown later, and Sahine had shaken off the memories of old, she smelt something. An odor, that only she could or another of her type could detect. Stopping in her tracks, she scanned her surroundings. "Where was he," she thought. She only knew he was near. Sahine had been smelling him more often now. Usually the Lycan's stayed away from the densely populated cities, but this one was close, and she wondered why.
She walked further along, not seeing anyone that looked suspicious. Looking up at the moon, she knew she wouldn't find him tonight, but soon... soon it would be time for him to feed again. Sahine hated the waiting most of all. Smells assaulted her senses again, this time not unpleasant or threatening ones but ones of a different more pleasing nature. She recognized the smell of the pizzeria on the corner and walked inside.
"Hey Joe," she called to the old man behind the counter. He looked and her and waved, then called over his shoulder to have the young teen fix her the usual pizza she often craved. Smiling wide, she took her place in the corner, and began to shred the napkin in front of her. Frustration did her little good, so she slid the pile of confetti over and looked at the other customers in the shop.
The Harrison couple and their three kids were there, enjoying the typical cheese and pepperoni pizza. Matt the local hardware guy was leaning on the counter making a play for the blonde that lived up the street from her. Another young couple tried to cop a few fills of each other, without being obvious. Two loners sat at different tables. One seemed to be reading the paper, Sahine barely recognized him, only seen him in the pizzeria twice before and the other man, she didn't know at all.
Sam came over and she winked at him, as her gave her the pineapple and ham pizza. The young kid blushed and told her if she needed anything to just let him know and he'd be right over to take care of it. Sahine set his mind at ease and tried to relax as the smell of the animal stayed with her. She knew he was closer then before, but since he wasn't in his lycan state he was able to camouflage his scent. "The air system...," shaking her head, she hated air conditioners sometimes, they brought all sorts of senses into a room, thus sometimes she wasn't sure if the being was outside or in. Sahine sat quietly watching the pedestrians walk by while she ate her pizza.
OOC:
Sahine O'Conner
27 years
Black hair
Dark brown eyes
5'10"
Fit and finely toned body
Became orphaned at the age of 16, and became a Huntress after training with others of her kind. Now searches for one Lycan that has for some reason come to the city of San Fransico. Unsure as to why the Lycan has suddenly begun to hunt in the densely populated city, she searches to find him, either in his human form or in his animal state.
Manikuma
Known by his occasionall friends as Mani.
Immortal
Lycan
A tall 6'4 man with a tan body
brown eyes along with dark, black messy hair
As a lycan:
A 6'10 werewolf, dark body with hair all around his body.
Black eyes and a long snout, along with a long tongue.
Muscular body.
Mani had been a normal kid in the late 1700's. He had many friends, a loving mother and father. Even a girlfriend, but at the age of 16, he was bitten by a man who at the time, didn't know. As the days wore on, the bite worsened. His mother called for the doctor and it a few days, he came. The doctor could find no such type of a virus. He had no idea what was happening to him.
A couple days later, as the moon rose and he slept inside, near the warmth of the fire when suddenly, his eyes struck the moon. His eyes glazed over and his body lurched into the air. His father had gone into the town for a drink with a few of his friends. His mother had gone into town as well to visit her deathly ill mother. As his body spasmed, he could feel his body snapping, moving and as if remodeling into another being. He raised his shirt as he saw it happening. He let out a wail of pain as his eyes turned from a soft brown to a dark black. Hair began to grow fiercly from his body and what seemed to be a snout forming from his chin to his nose. And then, as his eyes flew open, it was over. He let out a wail and lurched out the opened window. Running quickly with amazing speed.
He soon found a river, that he had visited alot when he was younger. And that's when he saw his reflection. He no longer, himself, he was now, a lycan. What his grandfather had hunted many years ago and still hunted. A couple weeks passed, and as those days passed, he learned to not feel any pain with his transformation. He even found himself able to control it and transform whenever he pleased. He watched his old household and found his parents, sending otu search parties, rewards, the whole ten yards. Yet they never found him. He was considered dead. As the years grew on, he learned that silver could only hurt him terribly but soon he found a way to remove the silver quickly with his blood. It was much easier and less painless that removing them with his fingers. Every 30 years, his body aged only 1 year. He found himself, able to live, forever...
IC:
Now, in 2005, which he never believe he could be in. In the 200 years he had lived in, he learned how to hunt, kill, survive, make a home. Even find a way to have a normal life yet deep inside, he could always feel the hunger of what seemed to be considered to him as hell. He walked in the busy streets, everyone frivolous as to what he was. It was like everyone was rushig by him as he had his own speed. Mani's speed. He smiled as everyone passed him. He had learned how to survive by what lycans he could find, he even found ways to manipulate people. It was quite usefull.
As he passed the shop he worked in which was antiques, he smiled. Everything in his shop reminded him of home, let it be from when he was a kid to when he was a lycan, it reminded him of the old days when he could ride a horse. He loved it all but now, it was no longer horses, no, it was automobiles. Yet he found no use for an automobile for he was faster than one when he was transformed and that was just the way he liked it. The wind rushing through his hair, he loved it. He now found out why dogs loved the feeling of wind in their hair.
He turned the sign and sighed as he went over his desk and sighed. He had been hunted once, though, he never meant to kill her, he was given no other choice. As he looked at one of the new shipments which was a gun. He smiled, it reminded him of Van Helsing, he had known him during when he was learning the ways of the lycans. Though Helsing never knew of what he was, well, for what he knew. They had become great friends, before he had managed to kill the beast dracula. Mani never found out how he did it but to him, he knew Helsing was still here. He knew it just, he didn't know how.
He rested his feet on the table and was caught day dreaming once more when suddenly he heard the front doorbell ring. The first customer of the day, and it was just beginning...
Sahine woke up the following morning, the slight heartburn from her pizza gone and her body slowly beginning to wake up. She had showered, washed the sleepiness from her eyes and her body, then enjoyed a bagel and a cup of coffee. Now, she sat and stared at the headlines, another body had been found torn and ripped to pieces. Sahine sighed, something was going on. This was so unlike the usual Lycans of today, this work was more like ones of the past.
Today's Lycan's did their best to blend in with society and they tried to fight the urge that called out to them. A hollow of the animals, that had chosen to live life as the Lycan's of old, had been hunted and destroyed years ago, now Sahine wondered if not all had been killed. She tossed the paper on the table and crossed her arms. What if their was one of them in her city? Though she was well trained, she herself had only disposed of three Lycan's, only one having been on her own, the others with a team of hunters.
Rising to her feet, her mind tried to think of what steps she could take in hunting down the beast. She only hoped he was the only one in her city, to have two would be more then she felt she could handle. Two Lycan's bent on destruction, Sahine shuddered at the thought. Putting her coffee cup in the sink, Sahine grabbed her purse and headed out the door.
The morning sun glowed down on her while the soft breeze kissed her skin. Taking a deep breath she sensed nothing, but the morning air. She often enjoyed her walk to work, but today her heart was heavy, as the thoughts of another hunt settled on her mind.
Sahine had left work early. This morning she had a friend, she had promised to visit. He didn't know about her life, other then the job at the museum. Mani, had recently come across an Asian artifact that he thought she would be interested in. She liked Mani, he had never made a play on her, and always kept their relationship strictly friendship or business, depending on what was going on at the moment.
When she at first met Mani, she was highly suspicious of him. She sensed uneasiness from him, and his scent though not strong reminded her of the beasts that she hunted. But she had watched and saw nothing odd or out of the ordinary, so she had sought the council of the elders. They explained to her that many people will carry the scent, but are immune to the Lycan blood line that flows in their veins. She questioned how this could be, and they continued to teach her that after several thousands of years, some Lycan's mated with humans and eventually the Lycan part of them had been bred out. Sahine realized then, after studying Mani, that he must have been one of those descendants that were immune to the change. She was relieved to know this, for she found his friendship something she treasured and she would have hated to destroy him.
The bell above the shop rang and Sahine walked into Mani's shop. She didn't see him, and assumed he was in the back of the store. Her fingers wandered over the delicate thimbles and the fine glass doves. Picking up a Meerschaum pipe, her eyes noted the intricate details of the eagle's wings and talons wrapped around the hunter, its beak long and sharp was grasping the hunter's bag. Sahine smiled at Mani as she heard him come back into the room, “Hello there stranger,” she greeted him, placing the beautiful pipe back on its velvet cover.
Mani
Mani came out of the back office, he smiled at her. He had for once in his long lifetime, felt he had a close friend, almost a love. He never wanted to endanger anything. He also, could smell the blood of a lycan on her. Either she was one or hunted lycans, he could not tell. Either way, she was a good friend to him and he never wanted her to know about him. He stood proudly before and smiled, shaking her hand. And hello to you too. How have ya been Sahine?
He sighed, he always loved the look of humans. He still, after 200 years never understood what other dogs or any creature saw in the other. He perfered humans, seeing as that they could show emotion, and they all looked different in their own way. He went into the back and pulled open a box. It had hay and a box inside. He motioned for her to open it. For she was the one that reminded him of the item and he figured, she'd be the only one to know what it was.
He had discovered it when he had been traveling. When he baught it, it was useless to him but her, he didn't quite know. Suddenly, that's when he heard the phone ring.
Uhm, give me one moment. He told ehr as he went over to his desk and picked up the phone. Luna Scura, this is Mani how may I help you? He was the only one that knew what Luna Scura meant, well, that is he knew about. Luna Scura meant, Dark Moon in latin. He hung up the phone after writing down the message, he placed it on his to do list for later.
He went back over to her and watched her slowly mvoe her fingers over it. Do you know what this is exactly? I baught it off a merchant in Russia, he said it was priceless and some other stuff, thought it looked interesting and got it. I was kinda hoping someone else knew what it was or what not.
Sahine took the box from Mani and moved over to the counter. “Well it is heavy, that is always fun. Small things are lovely, but I enjoy the bigger pieces when I am making a purchase I know nothing about. I'm sure you did well, let's see what you have.”
Setting the box on the counter, she lifted the smaller one out and examined all the sides as well as the top and bottom. “Here we go.” She wiggled her fingernail into a small groove that most people wouldn't have even had noticed, but she did and she easily worked her nail into it. Just inside she felt a small wooden stem, she pressed on it and the lid clicked free. Winking at Mani, she placed the the lid back inside with the hay. “Oh Mani!” her eyes huge with excitement.
Her fingers slipped around the wood carving of Buddha's Parents. “Mani, this is very lovely. It isn't worth thousands, but it is still a beautiful piece. This is Sudhadha and Mayadevi. This piece comes from the 14 Century.”
She passed the piece over to Mani, “This is from Lumbini, Nepal and it is a rare and beautiful find. You did well.” Sahine gauged the piece to be around 11 inches high and 8 inches across. “You could probably sell it for around $650-$750, doesn't sound like much, but it is a nice sum.”
Resting her arm on the counter, Sahine's elbow bumped the box and she heard a little roll of something inside, “Mani... you've got something else in here also.” She shuffled through the hair and pulled out a small round ball. The seam ran around the middle and she twisted it open. Inside was a silver ring, Mani leaned closer and Sahine poured the little ring into her palm. With her fingers she picked up the fragile piece and her eyes widened. “Who sold this to you again?”
In her hand were three Lycan's molded from silver and formed into a ring. The center beast faced, as if it were heading towards its prey, the piece on one side fully changed also and faced sideways, its stance hollowing towards the moon. The final Lycan's front legs or arms, rested on the back of the first. It's form was not yet fully wolf but partially man. The fur was etched with a tool that Sahine assumed was sharp tipped so the fine lines could be carved into each piece. The eyes of each being was filled with ruby chips.
“Mani, I can't even put a price on something like this.” She gazed at the red eyes of the center animal and her body shuddered. Sahine recognized the piece from stories passed down through the years. The ring was to be passed from one Lycan leader to another, when an elder one was captured or killed or in what rarely ever was seen, died from sickness or age. “Where did you get this again?”
He looked at it for a moment, his inside shacking a bit, considering it was silver. He studdered a bit. A man off the street sold it to, from Russia, why? Was that ring not supposably made in Russia or something? He asked, faking to be clueless. He really knew what it was, he just had only seen one before and figured he'd never seen it again. The lycan would wear it for one day, the only problem is was that it burned and engraved it into there fingers and anyone could tell what that person was. It was like a mark or a tattoo.
He looked up into her eyes and sighed. He looked down at his watch, it was 11:45 and figured they might as well take a break and go and get some lunch. He went over to the door and put the, "Be back soon," sign on and went over to her. He went back over to her and looked at his watch, it was gold, gladly not silver. Then he looked up at her, Hey this is usually my break for lunch so if you'd like, we can stop somewhere and grab a bite to eat and then come back and what not, unless your busy right now.
A normal man would have considered this a date but he was not a normal man and this was just between two friends. He pressed on the answering machine and set it aside as he waited for her at the front entrance. He knew of a great place down the road. It was a great steak restraunt, though it was sit down, it was well worth it all. He smiled and held the door open for her.
Sahine put the ring back in the wooden ball it had been stored in, her mind reeled over what Lycan had last worn it. Only the leader would ever wear it, then remove it and store it away. Someone powerful had passed and Sahine would have to seek the counsel of the elder hunters for her to determine what this meant, and why Mani had the box. She still did not sense any evil from him, just perhaps a bit of uneasiness, but Sahine herself had acted somewhat forceful in her questions.
She noticed the time and since she would have normally been on her own lunch hour, if she were working at the museum today, she shrugged her shoulders and told Mani, she would be happy to have lunch with him today.
The couple moved out into the street and she waited while Mani locked the door behind them. As they walked Sahine explained, what the ring meant. “Mani, the ring very well could have come from Russia, it could actually come from anywhere. It is an old ring and though silver and rubies themselves are valuable the ring itself isn't valuable for those qualities.”
Stopping at the corner, waiting for the light to change so they could proceed across the busy street, Sahine continued her explanation, “You and I know that many people believe in mythical creatures, unicorns, trolls, fairies, and yes even vampires and werewolves or Lycans.”
Sahine smiled at Mani's laugh over such nonsense, not hearing the underlying uneasiness as she spoke. The light changed and she felt his hand on the small of her back as he guided her across the street and through the crowd. Sahine went on speaking, “Many people do believe, and so they still practice the old life, people still huddle in groups and speak voodoo and they still have feuds between different races. The vampires and lycan's still get hunted and the hunters still work to exterminate them. The ring you have back in your shop, is valuable to a Lycan.”
The two friends reached the restaurant and Mani's hand dropped from her back to open the door, he followed in behind her, and pointed out a nice table in the corner of the establishment. Sitting down across from each other, she finished her explanation, “The ring is worn only for a moment by the Head Lycan of a hollow or bloodline. The silver in large quantities will kill a Lycan, however in small amounts it burns their skin. The ring is then removed from the leaders finger and placed away, stored until for some reason, the Lycan can no longer rule, it is then moved on to the next head of the hollow or clan.”
He nodded for thats exactly what he knew about them. He even knew a leader that had worn one similar to it. He didn't think anything of it, he just shrugged it off. He placed an order for two and they set them down at a table outside where it was cool, quiet and relaxing. Luckily, it wasn't to hot. He order himself a pepsi for he didn't feel like getting drunk at that moment considering he still had to work. The drinks came and he smiled as he took a sip. The waitress left to give them both a few minutes to looks over the menu. He looked over at her once again.
So really, the ring is a worthless artifact though very common toa lycan. Alright, I gotcha. He then began to think how she knew all thsi and finally, he had to bring it up. How do you know about all this Sahine? Before she could speak however, the waitress came back and he orded himself a medium steak. As she waited for Sahine to give her, her order. He shifted in his seat as the waitress left. The lycan inside him was telling him she was now dangerous to him but he didn't want her to be dangerous. She would never hurt him as long as she didn't know he was a lycan. And he hoped, it would last as long as possible.
Bread was then served to them and he took one and placed some butter on it and chewed it, the crunching of the bread covered his hearing but he finished the piece and sat back as he listened to Sahine.
Sahine ordered a ham sandwich with Mayo and pickles, then looked at Mani, “I love reading about all that old ancient stuff. You really can't be surprised at that, I do work in a museum.”
She took a drink of her soda, and continued, “I love to absorb useless information. I can tell you how many drive-in theaters are still in the US. I can tell you the weight of the worlds largest uncut emerald. If you want to know about antiques call me. But most of all,” Sahine's eyes sparkled, “I love romance books. Knights in Shining Armor, Unicorns, the Vampire meeting his long lost soul mate... and of course, it all comes down to nonsense but it is fun. Sure some people believe it and practice the witchcraft and the voodoo stuff, but well it makes a story cool, if you know the reasons behind them.”
As their meals arrived, she talked more of the Buddist artifact that was in the box, hoping to move their conversation away from Lycan's and Rings, she didn't want to think of that right now. She would do that when she was alone, hunting. Sahine could only wonder if the package was sold to Mani, so it would get into the US easily. Would someone now come looking for it, she would have to keep an eye on Mani. Sahine liked her friend and she only wanted to protect him. With Mani in possession of the ring, she only was more concerned for his safety. Someone will want that ring and until they found it or Sahine found them, Mani was in danger.
“What do you think you'll do with your ring Mani?” Sahine enjoyed the soft breeze that tossed her hair over her bangs, tucking them behind her ear, she waited patiently for her friend to answer.
Well, now that I know what was in their, I honestly don't know. I imagine I would put it on display for anyone that would want it and put a bid on it. Other than that, nothing comes to mind, would you still like the vase? He asked her. Their food arrived by there waitress and they began to dig in, switching from sipping his coke and steak. Their conversation moved from Scifi to love. So, honestly, tell me, when was the last time you were in love or had a boyfriend?
He was curious. Their were occasions when he wished they were more than just friends but if that would happen, he knew it would screw both their lives up and endanger himself. He just felt like asking. He was no means a virgin but he couldn't have sex like other people, every single day. As he finished eatting his steak and she told him about her last love, he wondered back to his mother and her face and he smiled, remembering her. It had been so long, he imagined that alot of his family up in heavan were wanting him with them but they wouldn't get him, not yet.
The bill arrived and he paid for it with cash and the waitress left them to talk over more things. He listen intentivly, hearing every word come from her mouth let it be good, bad, or sad. He got up and helped her up and they walked out of the restraunt.
Sahine raced around in circles, if he just put it on display then that was an open invitation for a Lycan to come after him. She didn't want to use Mani as bait, she like him after all, the idea of him being somethings breakfast or on the morning news, didn't appeal to her at all.
As they left the cafe, Sahine thought of the question he had asked her earlier about her boyfriends. She had been honest with him, she currently right now was single, her life was full of the museum and not many found her to be exciting. Thinking to herself she honestly hadn't even thought of Mani in that way, so many of her relationships ended before they begun. Now that he had asked such a personnal question she wondered if perhaps he wanted more, she thought for a moment considering what would it be like to have someone in her life, someone like Mani.
The couple continued walking each one lost in their own thoughts, Mani once again pressed his hand upon her back as they weaved through the throngs of people. Sahine noticed the warmth of it, sighed and thought to herself, "One question on my past lovelife and all ready I'm having warm thoughts, good god." When they reached the front of Mani's store he unliked the door, opened it and followed her inside.
"The Buddist Parent's is a lovely piece. I'd hang it on the wall with the other Buddist collection you have, as far as the vase you mentioned, first let me thank you for reminding me," Sahine smiled as Mani made his way to the counter, "I had completely forgotten about it, I'll take it."
"Your going to put the ring in the window? Plan on advertising it or anything?"
Perhaps, I'll still have to think about it. Well, in your mind, how much do you think the vase will cost? And considering who you are and what you are to me, I'll even through in a discount. He smiled to here as he rang in the numbers she gave him and punched them in as the registered ringed with the reciept. He placed the reciept on the counter and began to rap the vase so just in case it wouldn't break, he placed it then in a box and placed it next to her reciept.
If you'd like, later I can drop it off over at your place or the museum so you don't have to lug this around the streets to th museum. He told her, placing his hand on the box and gave her the reciept. His insides felt warm when she took it from him and he felt her soft touch and he blushed a bit then hurried off as the phone suddenly rang, apparently someone had been trying to get a hold of him for awhile. Apparently a delivery man trying to deliver an artifact to another state, trying to find the museum there.
He gave the man the address and sighed. I swear, those men are worthless... He thought to himself setting the phone back in the socket and went back over to Sahine who started to put things back itno her purse.
Sahine smiled as Mani returned to her, "Boy that was quick." She packed her wallet back in and her house keys. "You know what, if you want to bring that by tonight, it would be great. I have to head out on some errands and lugging that around will be unpleasant." She snapped back her purse and looked at her watch. "I'm off today from the museum, otherwise I'd take it and just keep it in my office. Tell you what, it is all ready 1:00 so if you show up at my place at 6:00, I'll feed you."
She picked up her purse and swung the little strap over her shoulder, "Well, whatever you do decide to do with the ring, let me know. I'm curious is all, you don't meet alot of people who know about the history of the ring, and being the ancient times gal I am I would like to see if they have other pieces I may be interested in."
Smiling she leaned over and kissed Mani's cheek, "Well I'm out of here, if you want warm food, then it requires me paying the electric bill. I'll see you tonight luv!" Sahine left the shop and waved to Mani as she passed the window. Her mind focused on how to protect her friend and find out who was next inline to wear the Lycan symbol on their finger.
After she had paid her electric bill and her phone bill, Sahine stopped by the groceries and picked up a few things she wanted for tonights dinner with Mani. She was somewhat surprised by her giddiness over having Mani over for dinner. He had been over dozens of times, why tonight was any different she didn't know. Humming as she selected the perfect fruits and veggies, she chuckled at herself and moved throughout the store.
He smiled at her forwardness. He absolutely could not wait for tonight. He sat in the chair in the back and sighed, resting his hands on his lap as he cranked up the music on a rock station and sat back, closing his eyes and humming with the beat. Tonight was a full moon and he hoped, badly that he wouldn't stay at her house, or for any matter, see the moon. He sighed and rested his eyes.
Mainly, the rest of the day, Mani was stuck answering phone calls and writing down paper work. One or two customers stopped in and actually baught something, which he was surprised by. As the clcok reached 5:30. He got the box and heaved it under his shoulder. Surprisingly it was quite comfy and didn't bother him. He began to walk down the street towards her apartment. It wasn't that far but he enjoyed walking.
He laughed inside himself as he caught glimpses of people giving him stares while he carried the box. Aparently as he held it up, his muscles could be seen very easily. He grinned and went up to her door. He sighed, it had barely takin him 20 minutes to get there so it was perfect. He rang the bell and awaited her for her to open the door and greet him. Hios forehead was sweaty from the heat and humidity. Not the box. As she opened the door with a smile and quite a comfortable looking outfit on, he smiled and blushed as he was still wearing his old clothes from eariler. He placed the box on the floor near the door and hugged her for a greeting. Whoa, now something smells really good.
Sahine hugged Mani back and smiled when she released him. Her shirt had ridden up some, exposing her pierce belly button, pulling it down she took the box and invited Mani in. She bent down and placed the box, with her vase inside, down by her bedroom door, “Thanks for bringing that over.” She grinned at him.
“I hope you don't mind Mexican tonight.” She moved into the kitchen and worked at finishing up the preparations for their supper. Her body still had a few tingles in them from hugging Mani, and she chuckled to herself. Sahine knew that if he hadn't asked her about her personal life, she wouldn't be all giddy inside at having him her. “Get over yourself girl,” she mumbled as she stirred the ground beef. Clearing her throat she tried to cover up her statement, blushing over the realization she had said it out loud.
Mani relaxed against the counter and watched her prepare the meal. Sahine had gotten home from her errands earlier then expected and immediately called one of the elders and told him of the ring that Mani was in possession of. The elder informed her that they knew who had died, and were trying to research the next Lycan in line for control over the the hollows of that particular breed. For now she had been told to watch her friend, and protect him if needed, and to watch the ring. Sahine had agreed, and now she had to find a way to work in seeing Mani more and more, and to start taking her evening walks past his shop at night.
“Mani, if you want there are some cold beers in the fridge.” She looked back at him, and watched him smile in appreciation of finally having something to do. Her attention focused on his smile and the way it touched his eyes, “Ow!” She pulled her focus back to the stove, a small speckle of grease had hit her arm, “Better pay attention to supper.” She moved away and grabbed a wash rag and dabbed some cool water on her skin, then saw a few specks on her tennis skirt. Though Sahine couldn't play tennis to save her life she loved the little skirts. She watched Mani walk into the dining room, her eyes taking in his firm ass and his long stance. “Good god Sahine, its Mani, for heaven's sake, not some man you can just ogle whenever you want,” she told herself, this time keeping her thoughts locked in her mind.
Grabbing the meat and shells from the stove and counter, she followed Mani, into the other room, where she had all ready laid out the toppings, plates, and silverware for the evening. Mani sat at the head of the table and Sahine to his left, the two friends enjoyed their meal and nice conversation, “So,” Sahine asked, “anything exciting happen after I left?”
As he dug into the freshly made food, his taste buds whirled around, loving the taste. It was amazing and he loved it, he even began to have more feelings for Sahine as well. Whiole she had been making supper, he had recieved a good look at her ass through the skirt. It made his dick hard in his pants but he tried to resist btu that's when she asked to get some beers. He had done so and placed them on the table and sat down as she braught the food over.
He looked over at her, placing his fork down. Well, unless you call paper work and telling directions to lost trucker men fun, then yes but I really didn't enjoy it. He grinned as he finished of a beer and went back into the kitchen, getting another. Want another beer? He asked her as he pulled out two just in case. Luckily, and for some reason, beer didn't effect a Lycan like it effected humans, he never got drunk but feelings changed, usually grew inside him and he would eventually lose control and the lycan inside him would come out, he just hoped that wouldn't happen. This time, he slowed his alchohal intake.
So how was your day off? He asked her, finishing off about 3/4 of his dinner, he was actually eatting it slower than he usually did. He sighed and remembered the last two nights. He had been informed by the nearby pack of lycans that there was a rogue lycan roaming around, hunting down whatever came into his sight. He knew any hunters that saw a lycan would msitake them as the rogue. He had to be carefull but at the same time, had to find the other lycan.
Sahine smiled and opened the second beer, she wasn't to concerned about what she drank tonight, she had Mani here and as long as she kept him here, she could keep him safe. She just had to see that he stayed the night, in the guest room. He had many times before, when they had stayed out to late at a ball game or watched movies late into the morning hours. If he decided not to, then she would just have to follow him, or go to his shop and keep an eye on things from there.
"My day, well as you can see, I payed the electric bill, thus I was able to feed you," she looked over the food that was pretty much gone, "and Mani, as usual, you were hungry!" She laughed at his chuckle and stood up to move the dishes away. Sahine gathered up the used plates, and roped Mani into helping her with the leftovers, which there weren't many. As the couple worked together to clean up the kitchen, Sahine in a long time, really had fun cleaning up after a meal.
"This has been an all around great day, we'll have to do this more often," looping her arm in his, her breast grazing the side of his skin, she pulled him with her into the kitchen. "I have a wonderful movie to watch this evening... actually two."
Sahine took her friend into the living room, and released his arm, moving to the DVD player she bent down and picked up her newest DVD's. She stood back up and noticed a slight blush to Mani's face, the she realized that the way she had bent to get the DVD's wasn't probably real smart. "Oops," she blushed even redder then she knew herself able to, "Ummmm... we'll just pretend you didn't see that, okay." She placed a hand up to her heated cheek, "Just remind me, not to wear a pink thong with a tennis skirt anymore." She laughed again as she gave him the two DVD's and moved back into the kitchen, returning with two more beers. Sahine needed to make sure Mani didn't get drunk, but felt buzzed enough to stay the night. She put their beers on the table and sat down on the leather love-seat. Nodding to the DVD's in his hands Sahine asked, "Well, what are your desires for the evening?"
The two movies in his hands were both really good ones. He was glad she had a taste for the same kind of movies. He decided to go with the comedy one first and then the horror. The comedy movie was with Robin Williams, the well known comedian. He went over to her DVD player, squated down to eye level and placed it into the rack. He set the DVD to play that specified movie and in it, it began to whirl around, reading the disk. He set the box, along with the other movie up onto the DVD player. He went back over to the couch and sat down.
As the movie began to play, he noticed Sahine getting more closer than usual. He looked over at her and noticed a gleam in her eye and he smiled, figuring, what the hell. His arm moved behind her head and began to hold her close. He could now really smell her perfume and it was turning him on as his insides quivered. Something inside him told him that something would happen. Whenever Sahine and Mani tried to get closer, something happened. It was like they were only meant to be friends but occasionally, he wanted more. He sighed as the movie rolled on and he enjoyed, the snuggling and smell of Sahine.
Sahine relaxed in the curve of Mani's arms, enjoying the flick as well as the company. She curled into him. Her head on his chest, her hand around his waist and her feet tucked underneath her. It felt nice to be in his arms, it always had felt that way. A connection was there, but neither one had moved to take it further.
She thought perhaps if they did, they would lose this comfortable thing they had together. Sahine thought of the many times they had spent together, from movies at her place as well as his. Ballgames and races, even a bit of antique shopping. She knew what he liked on his pizza, how he enjoyed his steaks, what flavor dressing he used on his salad. When Sahine went shopping for groceries, though she lived alone, she always bought triple of everything.
She giggled outloud over how much she spent on groceries for a single woman her size, little did Mani realize that he would easily eat her out of house and home. Mani however didn't look worse for wear, whatever he ate never lasted long on his body. He was very firm and very well toned, his body a picture of health.
Sahine looked up to her friend, "Thanks for coming over, this is nice."
He smiled and looked down into her goddess like eyes. They were like his mothers, eyes you could fall in love with. You very welcome...I'd do it any time... He said softly and noticed, there gaze never left each others. He wanted to take a risk and by the time he realized what was going on, he was leaning in to kiss her. He was about to touch those precious lips with his own. The ones he had wanted for so very long.
When suddenly he jumped, his phone had suddenly started vibrating and singing inside his back pocket. He groaned and moved over to get some room to get it. He answered it with a bit of a gruff tone. It was one of the truckers, he was assigned to pick something up and apparently, it wasn't there. Mani had totally forgottena bout it and stood up. He hung up the phone, telling the man he'd be there soon. He looked down at her and knelt beside her. Sahine...I'm so sorry, I realize this is a bad time to leave but...I'll just have to make it up to you...my place next time. He suggested as he leaned in and gently but passionitly, kissed her on the lips. He broke the kiss with a smile.
He stood up and left quickly, he felt really bad inside for what he was doing but that was mixing with the feeling of her kiss and it was really getting quite akward in his gut. He ran quickly down the street and just as he was passing the building. His right eye caught a glimpse of the moon and he stood but not to soon, as he lurched into the darkness of the alleyway as his body began to change. He groaned and screamed as his bones began to break and move. He ripped his shirt off as he could watch the bones moving. He lurched up, his back off the ground. His feet began to change aswell as his body began to grow hair all over himself. His fingers began to grow nails and his eyes changed from the soft brown to the deep darkness. The transformation was complete. His pants had beenr ipped but had not come off. He had become a lycan, with shorts on that held tightly to his lower body. He looked around, his now large snout sniffing the air. He hopped up between the buildings and got onto the roof and let out a loud howl that about half the city could hear.
Sahine still sat there stunned and unable to speak as she watched Mani leave her apartment. Her hands went to her lips, still moist from his kiss. She moved her fingers back and forth across across her lips. She shivered as she finally stood up.
“Wow,” she told herself. She pressed a nervous hand to her stomach and felt the butterflies reaching throughout her body. Sahine shut off the DVD player and went into the kitchen. She cleaned the dishes and dried them. Then she pulled a throw blanket from the rocker and went out onto the balcony of her apartment.
She would let Mani, get a half hour head start, then she would take off. He had mentioned a truck, so she would head to his shop first, then to his apartment. She huddled inside the blanket and looked at the moon, it was full and bright, a shiver ran through her, she knew that the Lycan that was terrorizing the city would be out tonight, but first she needed to hear him. Sahine had no where to start till she heard the sound.
The noise started out loud then grew to cover the city streets and top over the buildings. Sahine stood up slowly, letting her ears focus on the noise, it echoed here and there, hitting buildings, rooftops, and billboards. She pushed away from the balcony and moved into her bedroom. Sahine opened her closet and reached into the back of it.
She pulled out a pair of black slacks, black T-shirt and a leather jacket. She slipped these on, then braided her hair and let it fall down her back. She grabbed her gun, checked that is was loaded with the silver bullets. Sahine reached further into the closet and pulled out a box. Opening it the lights above her shone bright on the silver knife. She also, picked out a small case that was tucked inside the box. Sahine lifted the case opened it, and made sure the syringe was full of the chemicals she needed.
Sahine had never gotten close enough to use the chemical that would numb a Lycan immobile. She had shot one on her own, the silver burning and eating away at the creature from the inside out. Tucking her gun into the back of her slacks and extra bullets in her pocket, she picked up her boots and slipped those on also.
Strapping the knife to the inside of her boot, keeping it hidden in its sheath. The syringe she capped and put inside a hidden pocket of her jacket. She then headed into the night. Making her way towards Mani's shop, keeping her eyes open for any signs of her friend or danger. Her main concern was for Mani, he still had the ring, and the Lycan that possessed the ring would be able to claim leadership of the Lycan's in San Francisco.
The True Manikuma
Manikuma ran accross the buildings. He ws finally able to get a scent off the other lycan nearby. He ran quickly and smashed into a side of the wall. His nails were able to penetrate the birck and he was able to maintain balance, making it seem like he could climb and stand on walls. His eyes shown in the moonlight as he raced to find the lycan. Another scent filled his nose, it smelled like Sahine...but why?
He didn't understand but kept on moving, figuring it was the scent on his lips. About a mile ahead, he saw a figure, similar to his, looking up in the sky. He ran to it but suddenly stopped. There was something different now. He looked around and realized, there was more lycans. He looked around and then bolted for the other lycan and suddenly was thrown back by a lycan that had been hiding. It was on his chest. It's nails dug into his legs, Manikuma groaned and roared at him as the other lycan's hand shot up into the air but before he could bring it down, Manikuma was able to stab the lycan in the neck and boney heart. It fell of him and dematerialized to his human form and it began to decay, catching up with how old he truely was. He reallly hoped that would not happened to him.
He looked behind him and caught what appeared to be a human following him. This wasn't good, he knew what she was...a huntress. He looked at the other lycan and sniffed as he turned the other way and began running to his shop.
Sahine had seen them, all three. A pack, that was what she feared. She had caught the scent of them, surrounding herself in it. When she had gotten close enough she had only seen two, her arm had been raised to shoot the silver bullet into the back of the closest. Suddenly as if out of no where a third one had shown up. "Shit," she whispered. Ears perked up from the Lycan's and she flattened herself down. She watched as the two animals fought.
They were huge, larger then the three she had taken down before. Though the size of them, was large, the one she had had her gun on was bigger then the one that had surprised the first. Sahine had watched the short lived battle, her mind wondering what was going on. Usually Lycan's that traveled in a pack, didn't fight, unless there was a female in heat or if there was a question of leadership. Leadership, Sahine thought to herself. The ring, Mani! That was what drove her towards his shop, she had to protect him.
She hurried quietly behind the Lycan that was ahead of her. Sahine had tried to get a clear shot of his back, but she couldn't, then she heard it; a scream. Turning her head quickly, she pulled her knife as a fourth Lycan stood behind her. She had imagined Lycan's to be huge, but this one was the largest she had ever seen or perhaps heard of. She looked into eyes of pure evil, the green and yellow glow of them, raked across her body. Sahine saw the blood dripping from his teeth and as she raised her gun to shoot it, it lashed out at her, knocking her weapon away. His nails racked into her arm, and Sahine screamed in pain. Her hand came up and pressed against the wound.
Sahine knew that this Lycan was toying with her, he was playing with her like she were a toy. She slipped down and pulled the knife from her boot and bared her teeth, the Lycan seemed to smile through his long razor sharp ones, as he eyed her newest weapon. She swept out at him, and only sliced air. He kept advancing, and she kept moving further back, her back hit the brick wall. Sahine felt the next sweep of his claws rake across her chest, again she screamed. She pushed away from the wall and tried to drive her knife into his stomach. His front arm, grabbed her and threw her across space and her body slammed against a wall. She fell slumped onto the concrete, her vision hazy, looked at the figure approaching her, and felt blackness consume her sight, her last whispered words, before she slipped off into unconsciousness were, "I'm sorry Mani."
He looked down from building above. He had seen it all and figured she would be okay but she was slowly ying. He couldn't let that lycan do it. He yelled out, more ferocious than a lycan could ever howl. He leapt of the bulding and fell down atop the one lycan that was about to bite Sahine with his razor sharp teeth. His nails sliced from his gut up through his upper body and up accross his face. The lycan fell back, blood dripping from its body. Mani was now in control of everything.
He stood in a crouched position stance, waiting for anything but the leader began to back up alittle, apparently hurt badly. Mani let out a snap and a growl, tellign the lycan to leave, quickly, she was his kill for the night. They seemed to look at each other, thinking it was the leader's kill but thy knew there were more humans to feed on and they left quickly. He turned back to Sahine and bent over and picked her up, he was standing on his hind legs. His fur rubbing against her skin. He jumped into the air, the wind spreading through his hair.
He somehow managed to slip into his home through a open window which he always left open, just in case. He set her on his bed and went over to his bathroom and looked himself in the mirror. He fel a searing pain as he looked down at his hips, it had actually been pierced by the leaders nails. It left quite a claw mark. He groaned as his body began to change into its human form He shook everything away and then looked at the scar once more. He wrapped it up with bandages and then groaned for it actually hurt. Some of his blonde was seeping through the mark but he put on a shirt, over it but it was an over shirt so it showed the bandages.
He braught some more medical equipment over to Sahines side and set them on the desk. As he began to clean up her wounds, tears were forming in his eyes. After about 45 minutes of cleaning up the wounds and some sewing, she was healed, well, for what would be considered a clean up. She had to let the wounds heal. As he put the stuff away and sat at her side, the tears that were welling up had finally bent kept long enough. He bent over, encased his arms around her and placed his hand above her shoulder as he began to weep, whispering things into her unconscious mind. They were spells he had learned from a some witchs in the early 1800's. They were healing spells that would quicken the healing process in her body and even make her stronger and finally, after the spells, he spoke in english. I'm sorry Sahine...I'm so sorry...
Sahine laid gently on the bed, her eyes squinting from the sun, her body was stiff, and she felt the smooth sheets beneath her body. Opening her eyes she looked around. "What in the world?" Her eyes roamed the room, "Why am I in Mani's bedroom?" She looked down at her body, she wore a T-shirt and the wounds from the other night were cleaned and bandaged, though not as sore as she would expect them to. Did she dream it all? No... she remembered everything, right up until she blacked out.
She put her feet on the floor and moved over to Mani's closet, pulled out a long sleeve shirt and took his T-shirt off. She breathed in the scent of his clothing. The shirt hung down to mid thigh, and she sat back down on the bed, grabbing his pillow she smelled the scent of her friend and something else. "Lycan?" She shook her head, "No... that is probably the smell on me. But how did he get me here? How did I get here?"
Sahine put the pillow away and looked for her clothing, the gun and knife were probably long gone, but the syringe could still be in her jacket. She looked around and couldn't find her clothes, she knew the Lycan had torn been there, she needed to find Mani and see what was going on. Surely he had some plausible explanation for her, something that made sense. Maybe he saw something and he could help her.
