First submission this morning. Fingers crossed, hey!

It's the first part of a two-part story of the sexual reawakening of a jaded housewife. It's a lesbian tale but this is more of a prologue with solo masturbation. Part two has the hot girl-on-girl action!

Not really expecting to be accepted first time but will learn the boundaries I'm sure.

Hmm. Still waiting. What's the turnover time, usually? Biting my nails here!

Ah well, I have an avatar now.

Ok then I'll chill out for the rest of the week.

And don't be fiddling with it. You can put it to the back of the line if you do. Good luck and after it is posted you will be assimilated. :D You will be checking the score, number of vote, comments, favorites every five minutes at least.

PS: PM me and I tell you the easiest way to keep tabs on all that. from experience you know.

Suggestion: put a link to your submissions page on the signatures section of your profile page. That way when you inform people on the AH about a new story they can link to it easily.

Writers from the UK sometimes run afoul of US rules for punctuating quotations. Aside from that possibility, a rejection seems unlikely. Now it's just a matter of waiting.

That is my plan, just as soon as I have a submissions page to link to

Yeah yeah, double quotes not single, terminal punctuation inside the quotes. :D

That I can handle. If they cut up rough about spelling I will not be happy!

Laurel is quite happy with single quotes. Just make sure that you are consistent. :)

It seems that 'first attempts' are read better and can take 5 days or so.
Good Luck

Even after you become 'established' it usually takes 2-3 days for submissions to go live. Sometimes more depending on a variety of factors, Laurel's schedule being the biggest. All stories on Lit have to go through Laurel. She pays extra attention to first-timers. Once she knows your grammar is clean and you're following her rules, it goes a little faster.

And don't be fiddling with it. You can put it to the back of the line if you do.

True! Any edits after submission move you to the back of the queue, so don't submit until you're certain you're happy with it.

Congratulations on your first submission! The obsession with votes and scores you are about to experience will fade eventually... Or so I'm told.

It won't be a problem. I've been writing in Australian English for four years with 85 submissions posted in that time, and not once have I had a problem with Laurel clearing content because of that. One can see from your posts that you are literate and can spell, so you'll be fine.

If you specifically want feedback on your story, start a thread over in the Feedback Forum (not here) once your story is live - but you're under no obligation to do that, it's completely up to you. Just tell folk the category up front, so those who don't care for that category don't bother looking.

ps: submissions are slow getting cleared right now (my last three were 5 - 7 days, not the more usual 2 - 3). It fluctuates, newbies are usually a bit longer, because Laurel will read content closer to ensure compliance with her content policies.

Try one in a Scottish dialect. :)
But DO NOT FORGET to make sure it is declared early on as a dialect !

My first submission was rejected for poor punctuation, but after I told Laurel I was willing to accept a spanking as penance, it all worked out.
