With less than ten percent of the vote in they're declairing winners. Way to go, genuises.

No, no, no. You have it wrong. They are declaring Weiners.

They are calling them in states where polls are closed.

It's Okay Miss Cleo and my friends at the Psychic Network told me yesterday who won... so this is all anti-climatic for me.

Yeah... But with less than ten percent of the votes counted you can't tell anything.

No, this is different than 2000, when they called the Presidential race before all the polls closed nationwide, and there was speculation that some people didn't bother voting as a result.

No one really cares if they predict winners. Just don't do it while people are still voting.

Well, for some of them, like say Mitch McConnell in Kentucky or John Kerry in Massachusetts, there really wasn't any doubt.

NBC has thus far refused to call these senatorial races:

Missouri: Talent is beating Carnahan 50-48, with 97% of districts reporting.
Minnesota: Coleman beating Mondale 51-46, 43% reporting.
South Dakota: Thune beating Johnson 50-49, 83% reporting.

Now, I can see holding off on the last two, but stick a fork in Carnahan, for Christ's sake.

Yeah. Don't call an election with 4%
