Last week there was a report of a guy in, I believe, Kentucky. He was standing near the checkout counter of a convenience store when a young guy came up and tried to pick his pocket. This older guy grabbed the punk by the wrist with his left hand and proceeded to beat him with his right hand. Oops, he was a retired Marine and an Ex-Golden Gloves Boxer.

Yesterday a couple of young Pups walked into a Sub Shop here in Florida and brandished handguns intent on robbing the place. There was one customer sitting in the back. They pointed their handguns at the store clerk and demanded the money, which he sensibly handed over. One of them then pushed the older customer to the back of the store towards the bathrooms. The customer then turned and fired twice, striking the would be robber in the head and the chest. He then turned and fired once at the other would be robber hitting him. (He was found hiding in a bush near the front door of the sub shop.) Oops, the customer was an Ex-Marine with a Concealed Carry Permit.

I love stories like that. They make me wish that New Jersey wasn't so mired in red tape about carry permits (they are almost as hard to get as entry into the Nuclear [that doesn't look like it is spelled right, and I feel like Homer Simpson] club).

You left out the best part. The retired Marine was SEVENTY TWO (72) years old!
