The words came in dribbles. Grief strangled the narrative, crippled it. It'd come with time. Effort. Patience. Still, what little he produced felt good. Not quite as good as the Bombay.

He hoped Cait wouldn't mind if he took the newest maid to bed with him.
 
She came in, tossing her keys into the waiting bowl and slipped off her sandals. Heading for the kitchen and grabbing a glass of ice, she fixed a cold 7-Up. Something to settle her stomach. Making her way from the kitchen to the study where she flipped on her computer and waited for it boot. As it did, she took down her ponytail and shook her hair out, running her fingers through it.

She checked on her shared threads, her face not showing emotion as she got up and made her way down to the entertainment room. From behind the bar she fixed a tray. She detoured only once from her destination and that was briefly to the garden. Gathering up the tray, she headed up the stairs, being as quiet as she could. At the end of the hall, at the closed door to the room she had reserved just for him, she sat the tray on the floor. It held a fresh bottle of Bombay, a clean glass, and a long stemmed rose from her garden, placed in a cut crystal vase. She turned on heel and quietly left. She wasn't about to disturb the man. He had enough on his mind as it was. Perhaps, later. He knew he could. Anytime.

Having slept the best night of the past three nights, she sat yawning in the study. Four posts to see to today, hopefully. She was going to try. Sir Thomas had come in earlier and asked what the new maid had been doing because she looked a little worse for wear, so to speak. Though, in his words, well used. There was a shrug, a raised eyebrow and a contemplative look, but that was the only answer the butler got.

Personally, she had her own ideas on matter and smirked after Thomas left still looking puzzled.
 
He rose from his desk, took a few steps to place a gentle good night kiss on her lips, making her look away from the screen where she was stomping face for just a second, and walked out of the study towards the bedroom to get more sleep. He needed it.
 
She glanced at her watch. It was late. Her head circled on her neck and she could hear that cracking sound. Stomping face, she had told M with an absentminded kiss as he left her for bed. So she had a vice. She was a closet geek. A diminutive one. Like her.

She had meant to write today, but that didn't happen. Tomorrow for sure. Sometimes, a girl just had to take time for herself and after this past weekend, she needed it. No complaints. She'd do it all over again if she needed to.

Getting up from her desk, switching off the light on her desk, she made her way around the house and locked up. Pausing in the middle of the Great Room briefly, listening. All was quiet. Either her house guests were asleep, out or doing whatever it was house guests do.

Letting herself into her bedroom, she closed the door, undressed and slipped into bed. A quick soft kiss to his forehead and she turned on her side, snuggling close and let sleep claim her.
 
Procrastination. Yep. She was. She really, really hated shopping and it wasn't even her own! She adored her family. She didn't mind doing favors for them. There were just times when she didn't want to go anywhere. Today was such a day, but she had promised and she always tried not to break them. She looked longingly at her shared threads and resisted the urge. Well.... a quick glance at the clock.... maybe just one.... or two.

He walks in after a tiring day at work and notices the picture left in the great room for Cait by the shy little lady. A smile appears across his face. He is not an animal person, but those three look adorable. He reads the names written on the bottom. Picking up the beautiful portrait along with the red rose, he carries it over to the Study and places it on her desk carefully.

Kitchen. Food. Now.

Keys are dropped into their waiting basin. Hands go to the back of my head as I let my hair down and shake it out, feeling it softly fall around my shoulders. I slip my sandals off and pad barefooted in to the study. I toss the sandals carelessly on the floor just under my desk as I study the the pictures of yeishia's four-legged family. They make me smile. They're gorgeous and well loved. I can tell. My little girl is the same way. I take the picture and set it on a bookshelf with the other pictures of my four-legged family.

Dropping back into my chair, behind my desk, I pull the computer out of sleep mode so I can see who I have posts owed to still. M's first.
 
He walked into the Study rubbing his eyes and yawning. He paused and looked down at her, stretched his arms in the air once before leaning down to kiss her.

"Hi Baby."

Taking a few steps towards his desk, he slumped into the chair and stared at the monitor for a few minutes, then at her, grinning. He had hardly slept after going to bed earlier. Thinking about work. Thinking about her. Mostly about her though.

"Ok. No more procrastinating. I need to do this."

Saying that, he turned his attention to the screen once again and started typing. He knew there were going to be distractions. He was more than prepared for them. Or was he?

Another yawn. His eyes were still burning. Damn it.
 
She tipped her head back against the chair, tilting it sideways slightly as she looked up at him and smiled softly.

"Hi darling. I hope you managed some sleep."

She was done for the night, at least with posts. She had two more to do but they were going to have to wait. Slipping from her chair she went and stood behind his, slipping her arms around his neck from behind and kissing the top of his head.
 
"Okay. I'm done with work for the night."

He finally switched off his computer, reaching his hand back to touch her arm, smiling. Then the chair swiveled to one side and getting up from the chair, he slid his arm around her waist and pulled her close for a kiss.

"Let's go to bed, darling."
 
It was nice. No, it had been more than nice, to go to bed together last night. If only her mind had shut down and let her sleep. It was with an iron will that she didn't toss and turn on the bed ad wake him. She had thought about getting up and moving about until she tricked her brain into being sleepy. But she loathed the idea of leaving his warmth.

Hours ticked by and finally she slept and much to her dismay, she slept in later than she wanted. It also meant it took her longer to get functional as well. She had a few errands in town to see to today. M, she knew, was still tired, work having kept him up at odd hours for him last night. Maybe whiles she was gone today, he'd rest. She could but hope.
 
Another disheveled maid. This one a blonde. Shaking hands. Unable, or unwilling to sit. Rumors abound.

A rose left for the Mistress, as always. Another empty glass left upon the bar. No other sign.

No need for one.
 
Her fingers tap on the bar top downstairs. He's going through her maids like a hot knife through cold butter. What's he going to do once he gets through them all? Start round two? A shake of the head, picking up his glass, knowing without doubt it's his. Who else leaves her a rose? She tucks the rose into the same vase with the last one. One check on supplies. He keeps it well stocked even if most of the back stock is Bombay. No complaints. There never is. She briefly wonders if there's a game on tonight too. Of course there's always a bit of a commentary that she finds c----. Not going there. The tally will rise. One swipe across the bar top before she vanishes back into the RW yet again.
 
What to do today? She swiveled around in her chair slightly, taking a peek at M working behind his desk. She had retreated to her own desk to preserve what little sanity she had muster this morning. He had his taste of honey while she attempted to drink her coffee. The man constantly had her in shivers, either over words or actions. Damn him.

The RW was going to give her a reprieve today, though she would be fading in and out of this world and that one. Still, anticipation of the next couple of days, left her with a light heart, a smile on her lips with only a shadowy edge of worry to threaten it. She would enjoy this time. Period.
 
I awoke to a bright morning. Could the day get any better? Every day had its hiccups. This one had found a small one. Life has taught me well. I can blow it up and make it into more than it was. I could feel a host of emotions and I could let this one little hiccup spoil my day and put a blemish on what is good in my life, but I refuse. The heart knows what it knows.

All is well. The moment passed, dealt with accordingly. Nothing is going to spoil my weekend. The computer is fired up. Posts will be going up at intervals during the day even if I have to prod my lazy relaxed mind.

All too soon, things will return to the status quo. Damnit. Ah well. Maybe I'll test fly some of that Bombay in the bar downstairs later. Catch a little TV. Who knows.
 
She didn't make it down to the entertainment room for that drink. Instead, she had curled up on one of the sofas and fell asleep. Stress did have a way of sneaking up on a person. Okay, so it hadn't been all stress. The RW took its constant toll however. She woke, ate, relaxed for awhile longer than returned to her desk to finish the last post owed so she was all caught up again. Now, she was contemplating bed and she wondered where M was.
 
He was utterly spent and feeling very sleepy, ready to hit the bed. Walking into the study, he saw her sitting at her desk contemplating something.

"Hi Baby."

He smiled and moved closer to her chair, leaning down and giving her a soft, sensual kiss, one hand sliding over her back.
