The Mansion

Raven, let me think about it a day or two, please. I have so many now. I'm not sure if I should take on any more just yet and I want to read up on Rogue, okay?

Of course. I'll be here. And let me know if you find anyone for that Power Girl thread I have.

*Som sees a woman he doesn't know hurry out as he enters the Mansion's grounds. near the house he sees a crumb trail. He picks a bit up and realises it smells blueberry. It makes him hungry. He follows the trail and noms a few muffins himself*

*With few belongings to worry about packing, I set out on my quest, borrowed clothes, and just enough food raided from Cait's kitchen to get me through a day or two of traveling. If I haven't found what I need by then, I'll return.

Leaving a note for my protective friends, I begin my journey.*

Dearest Cait,
Thank you for your hospitality these past two nights.
I may yet have need of it if I do not find what I seek, but for now I'll go looking.
Enjoy the muffins, and don't worry about me.
I'm heading into the deepest part of the forest.
Perhaps I'll find what I seek there.
If not, at least I can visit Luna's new place, and maybe even Britwitch.
I hear she has a place out in the woods somewhere.
Thanks again,
Thyri

Morning came all to suddenly for her. But then, for whatever reason, she had a bad night. The sun rose, however, and she with it. There were a great many things on her mind as she padded out to the kitchen in search of coffee and found Thyri's note and her blueberry muffins (she wouldn't find the muffin crumb trail since Som snuffled them up and was hot on Zy's trail). Thoughtfully, she poured the rich dark brew into a mug, added her creamer and snagged a muffin, leaning against the counter as she sipped and munched.

She certainly hoped her dear friend found what she was looking for and she looked forward to visiting Thryi's new home soon. Changes had come to Thryi and perhaps realizations about herself too. A fresh, new home that was all hers would be a good beginning.

A smile smile played around her lips as she popped a piece of blueberry muffin into her mouth. Changes were coming for her too and just thinking about them made her heart beat faster. Every darn emotion that went with change, flooded through her. She took to heart that it was something she had given thought to, what she wanted deep down, even... thought about what she didn't want. Snagging up her coffee, she headed for the study. She didn't want to get ahead of herself. Details needed to be hammered out first and foremost.

That infernal irritating sound a truck makes as it's backing up, grabs her attention and draws her out of her day dreams. The soft click of her heels on the wooden floor as they leave the study and head for the front door, which she opens cautiously.

"Ah! Finally," she smiled at the delivery men and watched as they opened the back door of the truck and start to unload the rather large item closest to the door. It's covered in moving pads.

Cait watches approvingly as they carefully unload her latest purchase. She steps back out of the way.

"Through the door, down the hall and hang a right, " she called out as they work to get it through the front door.

She had left the door to the study wide open and followed behind the delivery guys.

"Where do you want it, Miss?" She gave a quick look around.

"Over there would be fine."

She pointed to the adjacent wall from hers. They removed the padding and departed after she signed for her acquisition and tipped them both. She followed behind them to close the door before she went back to the study and ran her hands over his new desk. She hoped he liked it. The accompanying leather chair looked comfortable and she couldn't resist sitting in it, just for a moment. His desk sat adjacent to hers, close but far enough away to insure his privacy. They would bring his desk top computer from his room and install it down here so he would be free to use his laptop wherever he went.

There was one last thing. She stood up, rummaging around in her shorts pocket and took out a little figurine for his desk. It seemed appropriate somehow. A small ginger kitten, sitting on its haunches, sporting a small collar and tag. She stood back and hoped he liked everything in here so far. It was just the beginning of the changes. The good ones.

Meh, the mobile suit gundams were big mechanized bits of armor. mechanized exoskeletons.

Hopefully sleep will come a lot sooner than it did last night and take me away to the place where dreams reside. But then... I do have something to look forward to when I wake up and that thought alone makes me smile.

My last thought
My waking thought
Smiles either way
With a light heart
And a song.

The sun was shining through the window when he woke up. He hated waking up so early in the morning. But there was work to be done. He stumbled out of bed, grabbed his glasses from the bedside table and walked towards the bathroom for a quick shower.

It had been a very busy week for him with work and also the changes that were slowly happening. He just stood under the hot water for a minute and smiled to himself. After finishing and drying off, he wrapped the towel around his waist, walked out of the bathroom and went to the closet to pick something to wear. It was Friday...thank god...and he had planned to work remotely today. After donning a pair of khaki shorts and a red t-shirt, he grabbed the bag of his laptop and left the bedroom.

Walking into the kitchen, he poured some orange juice into a glass, grabbed a croissant and after gulping it down, decided to go to the study to see if Cait was awake. If the door was open, he would just wait for her in there. If not, there was always the library, or the great room, assuming no other guests were already there. He needed a quiet place to work for a few hours.

Upon approaching the study, the door opened by itself. That did not surprise him now as much as it would have before. He grinned and entered, immediately noticing his desktop computer sitting on a large desk adjacent to hers. It stunned him at first, because he hadn't even noticed it missing from his bedroom this morning. There was no one there. He smiled and slowly approached the desk, glancing all around the room, his heart pounding, as he lowered himself, unable to resist from sitting in the lovely chair. Just as he was about to rest his bum, his gaze fell upon the little ginger kitten sitting on the desk and he stopped short of sitting down, his hands clutching the arms of the chair.

She was barefooted today, the way she usually liked to go around the house but this morning, it was for a reason.

"Well, what do you think, M?"

Her voice came softly from the doorway. Cait was leaning against the door frame on her shoulder, coffee cup in one hand, a small wrapped box in the other and her bottom lip caught between her teeth, one of the tells that she was unsure of something or nervous. Pushing away from the doorway, she strode over to his new desk and sat on a corner of it, setting the small present on the desk in front of him.

"Sit down, love. I couldn't resist and tried out your chair myself yesterday after they delivered it."

She was pretty sure he'd like it and she wanted him to feel like this was his home too now. The mansion was no longer just hers, it was theirs and this was just another step in that direction.

He suddenly looked up from the desk, hearing that lovely, soft voice and grinned. It was his Lady, leaning against the door with her coffee in one hand and a box in the other. He stood up and took a step forward just as she walked towards him and set the small box on the desk in front of him.

"Good Morning, darling."

As she asked him to sit down, he leaned forward and gave her a quick peck on the lips, before sitting back in the chair and grabbing the arms with his hands.

"I would have tried it out too, if I were you", he grinned up into her eyes, "I love it, BTW."

He then leaned forward, grabbed the little kitten from the desk, studied it for a moment and grinned at her, noticing the slight nervousness on her face as she sat on the desk near him.

"You okay, darling? Something bothering you?"

She idly swung her legs, stopping just short of her heels hitting the desk on the back swing. There were times she hated being so bloody short, like, when she went to the grocery store and there was something on the top shelf, pushed so far back she couldn't reach it or when she couldn't adjust a chair and her feet didn't touch the ground.

Tucking a stray hair behind her ear, she studied him with eyes that held a hint of concern.

"I'm okay, M. It's not something bothering me, per se," she glanced away and found a floor plant to focus her eyes on for a moment.

"I just...well, didn't want to overwhelm you." Her eyes glided back to his as she nodded toward the small gift box.

"Go ahead, open it. I remembered what I have on my desk and I went into town yesterday to find something for yours too."

For her, he was everything rolled into one, her Pet and her Tiger and Tiger held so much meaning and some of which she had yet to explore with him.

Inside the box, he would find an exquisitely made set of Bengal Tigers, male and female, standing side by side. They weren't separate pieces, but one. The male, of course, was larger than the female and had his head turned slightly toward her, licking her ear. The artist had caught that moment of affection quite well.

He smiled inwardly as her legs were swinging before they stopped and she looked away towards the plant for a moment. He could sense she was thinking about something, but it might not have been nervousness, now that he studied her face carefully. When her eyes shifted back to him, he looked at the small box as she nodded and then grabbed it.

"This is perfect, Cait.", he said, opening the box and looking at the gift she had brought for him. She always did put a lot of thought into whatever she did. He placed the Bengal tigers on his desk carefully, next to the ginger kitten but not too close, and smiled up at her.

"When I woke up this morning, I didn't even notice the computer gone. I came down here hoping to find you, in case you had woken up early. This is a total surprise for me."

He stood up from the chair and leaned in to kiss her cheek, before leaning back and grinning.

"I'm not sure how we are going to work in here together though, without being distracted."

She grinned, setting her mug on the desk top before hopping off of it and getting into the chair with him, wedging a knee on either side of his hips as she sat in his lap facing him, and leaning into as her fingertips brushed aside the collar of his shirt so her lips could wander over the side of his neck...

"You mean distractions like these?" She murmured against his skin.

He smiled as she slid from the desk and straddled his lap. The chair moved back slightly on it's wheels as she settled, his foot planted on the floor while his arm gripped the chair before going around her waist as she settled. His other hand remained on the chair as he sensed her leaning closer, her lips hovering against the flesh of his neck. He could feel her warm breath against his skin sending goosebumps through him, with her mouth so close to his sensitive area.

"Uh huh...just..."

He sighed softly and tilted his head back just a touch.

"...like these"

His free hand sliding up her arm, caressing it idly.

Her lips traveled up the column of his neck, at her leisure. She knew just how to make him squirm and love it. Nibbling, tongue rasps against pulse points before her lips trailed over to his ear and into which, she poured a soft husky growl. Her chest pressed against his. She took his hands and guided them under her shirt as she spoke.

"Well, we could do something here, break in your new desk, my love. But there's something else I want to do first and ask you..."
