The Mall

So he really did like June. Now that was interesting!
"You chicken!" I said, "you can take on an defensive line but you can't ask a girl out?"
"Well i might ask her out ya know"
I curled up laughing so hard i though he was gonna hit me, thankfully we've known each other for so long he wouldn't.
"Go for it!" i snorted through the tears "i'm sure the shy hardman thing will go down well!"

After i calmed down i put my arm around his shoulder
"Tell ya what, let's go get some food and maybe she'll be there. Everyone's gotta eat sometime"

Jezbel

I dropped my wasted lunch in the trash can. Well, there went that money down the drain. Not that I was hurting for money, mind you. My dad kept sending cards and letters with a ten or twenty stuck in there. I guess he figured that it made up for the fact that I only saw him once every few months. He was wrong...but I never got up enough guts to tell him.

I picked up my purchases and was headed towards the stores again when my bag with all my stuff from The Art Shoppe broke and spilled everything all over the floor.

"Damn!," I said as I quickly knelt down and started picking everything up. I soon had all of my stuff picked up except one thing. My sketchbook! I couldnt find my sketchbook. Frantically I began to search all around for it.

We made our way to the food court. I was pretty hungry as well. As we stepped in something slid in front of my foot. Looking down i realised it was some sort of sketchbook, and it had fallen open at my feet with a sketch of myself taking a shot?

I looked up and saw Jezbel scrabbling around on the floor in front of me. So i picked up the sketchbook and walked over to her. She still didn't notice me so i bent down in front of her holding the book.
"Need a hand?"

Jezbel

I looked up and my heart sank into my stomach. There was David and he was holding my sketchbook and it was open with my recent sketch of him staring right at me. I reached for the sketchbook and quickly closed it.

Kneeling there, sketchbook in hand, I wondered what I was going to do next. Nobody else had ever seen my sketches, not my friends..not even my parents. Well, the least I could do was say thanks.

"Thank you," I said, trying to steady my voice,"It's....it's a hobby of mine you know."

Looking down on the ground, I realized I had dropped all the stuff I had in my hand when I reached for the sketchbook. Oh boy, now I looked like a klutz!

Tucking the book under my arm, I again began gathering my things.

When Jezbel saw me she dropped all her stuff on the floor again. I sighed inwardly and wondered if i was ever going to be able to talk to her at all. At this rate i'll be lucky to say two sentences to her.

Jezbel snatched the book away from me. "Thank you, it's a hobby of mine"
Her voice was shaky and she was already blushing. I looked at her face. Damn she was beautiful. I had to make a move!

"Let me help you" i said, and started picking her things up. She looked up at me and i looked straight into her eyes.

Jezbel

I just kept staring at him. God only knows what he thought about me right then but I couldnt bring myself to look away.

Reaching for the things he had been picking up, my hands brushed against him and the contact helped my pull my gaze from his. Taking my things, I put them in the bag with my pumps.

Running my hand through my long hair, a habit I have when I'm nervous, I said,"Its not done...the picture I mean. I just started on it. I hope you dont mind-it was a really good shot."

I felt a shudder inside me as her fingers ran through her hair.
"A good shot?" I was confused for a second. Then it dawned on me. "Oh the game winner from last week? Oh yeah you were there weren't you? Two rows behind our bench?"
She blushed again.
"Well you know how it is, something they go, sometimes don't. In a alternate dimension that would have been a brick!" I smiled at her hoping she would find it amusing.

Jezbel

I laughed, covering my mouth with my hand. Then a thought hit me.

"You saw me?," I said, my mouth falling open. I didnt think anyone realized I went to the games except for a few friends.

I then realized we were both still kneeling on the floor in the middle of the food court and I picked up my packages and got to my feet.

"Thanks again for helping me," I said with a smile,"I really appreciate it."

She laughed! Now we're getting somewhere!
We both stood up and she thanked me for helping her. To me that suggested that she was thinking of leaving so i interrupted her.
"Hey have you had lunch yet? Want to join us?" I was praying that she would say yes. I really wanted a chance to talk to her properly!

Richard:

I was laughing slightly at davids akwardness.I playfully punched jacob in the arm."Look at him,"I said."Acting like a little school boy,".I hardly ever lost myself unless it was Daia, and then I would be worse then David.i took the first swallow of pepsi that I bought."Come on,Join us,jezbel,"i said hoping they would hurry up..

Jezbel

I bit my lip. I really wasnt good at crowds...especially if I was going to be the only girl. I looked at all of them and was just about to refuse when I stopped myself.

"Are you going to back out on this too?," I asked myself,"Do you really want to stay the shy girl of the school?"

"Sure," I heard myself say to David. Man, I cant believe that came from me!

Tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, I smiled at him.
"I think I'd like that."

I could her Rich and Jake sniggering behind me, but Rich redeemed himself by backing me up. Now i'm gonna owe him!

I smiled at Jezbel. "Great! Let's go get a table"

As we sat down i turned to Jezbel.

"Hey could you a copy of that sketch for me? My parents are useless at photography so i don't have any good pictures of myself playing basketball. Is that ok?"

Jezbel

I couldnt believe my ears. He actually liked my sketch! I almost went into my 'their really not that good' routine about my pictures. They werent professional and I had never thought them good enough to show to other people.

"He doesnt want to hear that," I told myself,"Cant you just shut up and accept a compliment for once?"

Trying to keep myself from blushing (again) I nodded,"Sure thing. I can give it to you at school. We're in some of the same classes, you know."

What I didnt tell him was that, if I had wanted to, I could have gone home and given him more than one sketch of him in action. I wasnt THAT brave though so I kept my mouth shut about it.

Richard:

I took the side seat, so I didnt have to sit next to anyone."can I see?," I asked meaning her drawings.I looked through a couple."These are quite good, jezbel,"I said and handed it back.

I sipped my pepsi. She was quite the artist.I sat there waiting for one of them to say something..

I took my sketch pad back and slipped it into the bag again.
"Thanks," I said to Richard,"I really enjoy it and I get a some good ideas from going to the games." I didnt add how most of my drawings were about David. I didnt think it appropriate.

I found myself smiling at David again. God, he must think I was a love sick school girl but I couldnt help it. He was really cute and I loved his eyes.

"Get a grip on yourself, girl," I thought,"It's just a lunch-no big deal."

Aloud I said to David,"So how does the game look for Friday? Think I might get some good sketches?"

Looking at her face i was dreaming of possibilities, should i ask her out today? Get a phone number? Or just play it cool and see her at school? I had to break my train of thought as she turned to me.

"Friday's game? Uh well, i tell you what? Why don't i talk to coach and see if you can sit at the scorekeepers table? Then you can get a better view of the players. I'll just say you're doing an art project or something and be a waterboy for a week. How does that sound?"

Jezbel

I laughed at the thought of David as a waterboy. I tried to cover my laughter by biting down on my lip but the image was so rediculous that I couldnt help but laugh out loud.

Looking over at him, I instantly sobered but I still had a grin on my face. I hoped he had not gotten the wrong impression about why I was laughing.

Shaking my head I said,"I dont think the coach would bench one of his best players but I really would love to get closer to the game." "And you," The thought entered my mind before I could prevent it.

At first i was dismayed by her laughter when i realised that she was laughing at the thought of myself as a waterboy!

"Well, Jordan probably did it, Magic probably did it, so now i shall run the gauntlet and perhaps do it too! I'm sure he won't bench me, not after showing i'm the luckiest player on the team" I smiled again.
"That's settled then, your sitting at the table for the next game"

Jezbel

My mouth dropped at his comment about being lucky.
"Lucky! Your one of the best players on the team-and you know it! I've seen...well, a few games...and you really are good."

All of a sudden I realized what I was doing. I was sitting at a table, surrounded by guys-one of whom I really liked-and I was actually carrying on a conversation. Would miricles never end? Why hadnt I done this sooner?

"But thank you," I said, impulsively laying my hand on his to show my gratitude,"I can really get some good sketches sitting up close to the game."

Then I noticed what I had done and blushed. Removing my hand, I looked around at the others.

"So, what is everybody going to have," I asked to cover up my embarrasment.

Richard:

I nudged Jacob with my foot."We good use the people rooting for us,"I said.I may not look like It I was A kick ass wide reciever."It will be good if the ball was passed to me more to,"I said to david. He got most of the action on the field."Im not really hungry, but Ill have a plain burger,"I said.I reached for my wallet and went up to the food stand.

I took a look around, hoping to see Daia somewhere, " Has anyone seen Daia?," i asked...

She touched my hand! This was getting interesting.

I could see that she did it accidently. When she realised she drew her hand away and blushed (again). Man she was so cute!

"Eat? Erm....well there's either cheap synthetic burgers, or cheap synthetic chicken, or cheap low grade salad, what a selection! Come no let's go have a look"

OOC: Hey guys...anyone mind me playing more than one part til we can get some females to take over? Or does that sound too wierd for anyone?

OOC: strange how they suddenly went missing......well i have no objections Isolde....maybe you could draft in a few replacements from elsewhere?

June

OOC: *Rolls up sleeves* Ok, here goes nothin'!

IC: Daia and I picked up our purchases from the counter and left the dress shop. We had been shopping for a while now and I thought we would have seen Jez by now. Jez is a friend of ours but she doesnt really hang around us alot. In fact, she doesnt hang around ANYONE alot.

Daia and I had been friends for what seemed like forever and Jez had joined us just this year. Funny thing that, Jez is so shy that we hadnt even thought of becoming friends but one day Daia and I had stumbled on her in the locker room and she had been crying. The latest in the war with her parents it turned out. Well, ever since then, we have been a trio.

"Where do you think she is?," I was asking Daia. She laughed,"Knowing Jez, probably stocking up on art supplies or hitting the ice cream shop."

We both knew what a weakness Jez had for ice cream. It was the reason she walked and jogged every day.

I laughed,"Ok, we passed the art shop and she wasnt there. Lets try the food court."

Daia nodded and we headed off towards the wonderful smell of food. As we neared, my stomach started to rumble. I hadnt realized how hungry I was.

I noticed Daia had stopped and I looked at her puzzled. I was going to ask her why the sudden stop when I saw her pointing to the food court. When I looked, my jaw dropped to the ground. There was shy Jez sitting at a table with David Wilson and Jacob Young. Richard Greene was over at the burger stand ordering but you can bet he was there with his pals.

I laughed. "Well, looks like our friend has hit the big time," I said,"Lets go see whats going on."
