In 1997 I took a job with a company and qualified for their 401K plan. When it came to investing my money I chose the Magellan plan and S&P 500 mutual fund during my time there accrued some 4200$. In a bull market.

As fate would have it I left the job and came to NY. I rolled my 401K over into a traditional IRA. During roll over yourmoney automatically goes into a money market account. I was supposed to go back, to move it to an S&P 500 index, but the guy there didn't mention I had to come back & I promptly forgot about it.

So my little retirement nest egg floated along making a paltry .0025%. Strange thing is, the market went south less than six months later. For the next three years money in An S&P fund would have lost -18.6%, -28.45% and -32.67%.

Today I got back into a growth fund, only to discover it is up 3.3% already and my little $4200 will get that boost no matter what.

Genius. The same kind of genius a monkey throwing darts at the stock page would get you :)

Incidentally I am kicking off the Colly Market Indicator fund. Basically anytime a misfortune causes my to move my money, I'll let ya know. All for the extremely cheap price of 1$ a notice. Tell me brokers don't make a killing. Asside from meteorologists they ar the only people on earth paid to guess.

Dear Col,
Have you tried fecromancy? Supposed to work better than reading tea leaves, and it's one hundred percent organic.

I was going to mention astrology and phrenology, but Ms Girl beat me to it, sorta.

As the brokers all tell you, just look at the results of my comprehensive money strategy.

Phrenology indeed, the only lumps on my head come from hard knocks, which incidentally seem to be valuable economic indicators :)

Nice work! Even if unintentional, it's good news. I'll have to PM you some stuff for analysis. Grats!
