A quick summary of my latest 750.
Husband arrives home to see his wife escorting her lovers from the house.
He gets inside, finds evidence of sexy time and flips out.
Her finds her in the bedroom looking well fucked and after she eggs him on; some hate sex ensues.
Afterward, he asks how long she plans on doing this to him.
She just shrugs and tells him that it was he who opened the marriage.
He claims that he had no intention of doing so, he had simply cheated on her one time.
But to her that was exactly what he had done.

Now I was expecting the torches and pitchforks so I'm quite happy with the responses. In fact, my entire library is getting quite a lot of attention, which for me, is the point of such a story. Knowing the attention it will get. Super low score, and complaints about her a slut and him a cuckold.

My question is this. If I reversed the roles? A woman who had cheated on her husband, and now her husband feels free to fuck whomever, the LW denizens would be cheering for him, no?

For such a premise, a true erotica "scientist" would conduct an experiment, writing just what you suggested and throwing your new meat to the wolves and compare the reactions.

I think you'd get some hate either way but I expect the skew would be different, yes

Here's my suggestion, since you seem brave enough to try these things and you're genuinely curious: Write the story, and see what happens.

You can get all the predictions and advice you want here, and probably more than is useful, but there's nothing like evidence to prove a point.

I agree. But I'm going to do it next year. Because his response would be different from a woman's and I want to think it out well.

As others have said, do it!

I write some of my stories in LW based on testing their reactions. I take the comments and judge the rating accordingly, then write another story with character details to see if I can head off some of those criticisms.

IMO, I think the revised version you post next year with the wife cheating first might do marginally better. But as I said in my PM, you complicated such testing when adding the additional "Black couple" (interracial) trope.

But again, IMO, if you write that story, those who HATE extra-marital sex will still hate it. There seems to be a small margin who are swayed by misogynistic changes of those role reversals.

Did you already remove the story? I was curious to the reactions.

I've been thinking of doing experiments for some time. Reposting a story with nothing more than the roles flipped (and the obligatory edits to write it from a believable perspective of course). Maybe not even the roles flipped. What if they're now two women instead of a woman and a guy? Or what if you flip the premise on it's head, where instead of the nerdy guy becoming a pussy magnet, the pussy magnet has an oopsy and his sex life becomes a barren wasteland?

I think it is a mute experiment. LW is divided, but both groups share one trait: misogyny. No one at LW cares about reflecting or tit for tat.

You will demonstrate some skew for sure, but do remember that the LW audience has many readers who genuinely care about justice (and love, reconciliation etc), whether it's a bitch or a bastard being burnt. Some are much more interested in engaging with the moral questions rather than the sex, and some are honestly offended by the suggestion that they misogynists. Certainly, not all LW readers are misogynists. So... you will get some skew, but it won't tell the whole story.

You could get the highest rating by telling the story from the “other man’s” perspective. I’ve done that twice and it worked both times.

I think most here know this answer, but like someone else suggested, go the FAFO route; write it and find out.

Nope, still up. What Goes Around

I agree but it might be fun.

I remember a story with a similar plot appearing not long ago. Since I don't like revenge stories, I didn't remember the title.
Infidelity committed by either gender is generally despised. (That's why I say that mentioning sexism is a straw man argument.) It is considered particularly despicable if the man who seduces the MC's wife is himself married. It is not uncommon for the two people who have been cheated on to fall in love with each other, as is the case here.

Myself, I won't write for LW.

I stay away from the category. It is not my cup of tea
I understand both of your points of view, but I look at it as advertising. Neither T/I nor LW are my usual stomping grounds (though I go where the muse leads me) but both of my 750s are in those categories. And as they are in the most popular categories, they bring so much attention it's crazy. Between the two stories, I've gained followers, people favoriting multiple stories for future reading, and new attention to my older stories and comments on those.

In short, if you ever come up with an idea that fits those categories, write it. The trolls may tear it up, but the people who liked your work will be looking for more.

I hear you but my ideas do not fit either category. I am still trying to figure out why imaginary sister banging imaginary brother is consider hotter than imaginary non related woman fucking imaginary non related man.
I understand the attraction of the number of viewers and the positive impact it will have on my stats.
I just cannot get me to write mom does son or a BTB story.
May be one day!

Or maybe no day.

If you don't have the interest in a topic or category don't waste your time.

I've never understood the people who will express disinterest in something then push themselves to write it. What's the point? Why waste time you could spend on something you are interested in?

That and when I've seen people crap on incest, then write one, those stories tend to be meh because you can pick up on the author going through the motions and it falls flat.

In a conversation with someone a long time ago I used the example of foot fetish stories. Who can write a better one, the person just seeing if they can write one, or the person with the actual fetish who knows what turns them on and often its more subtle things than just "I licked her foot."

Few can fake it til they make it with any level of actual success.

I totally get that. I was the same way when I started and had some pretty hard limits on what I was into. This place does change you though. There are a lot of other options for both categories though. A sexy aunt (uncle's wife) or mother-in-law (which wouldn't be blood related) story is still T/I and a husband and wife with an open marriage is still LW and they were my intros into those categories. No need to go for the extremes.

A random woman with a random guy is basically Hallmark channel with some sex.

The majority or erotica here and for sale is based on a kink or niche

Taboo-for sites that allow it
Milf
Hotwife/cuck material (which FWIW does not get trashed anywhere but here)
Beastie (huge seller where its allowed)
LGBT and GM
You get the point, want eyes here and sales in the market there needs to be an angle.
