The Look...

So yesterday I'm futzing around in the kitchen gathering up Xmas decoration materials to put away for another year. While doing so I notice that my roll of electrical tape has a big bubble in its layers. I am unrolling the tape to remove the bubble when Mamid walks into the kitchen. She sees me with about 2 feet of the electrical tape in my hands. She gives me a little sigh, crosses her wrists and extends them towards me.

Now, this is a little surprising as it is early evening and our little ones are still up. However, they are occupied, so after that moment of hesitation I quickly and firmly wrapped the tape around her wrists, taking care that the adhesive is on the outside. By the time she starts to mention the tightness of the tape I am already breaking off the end from the roll.

She attempts to straighten her wrists out from being crossed, which only tightens the tape further. Moving her wrists back to the crossed position she pulls against the tape. Now, I've never bound her with electrical tape before and as such Mamid discovers it unique properties for the first time. Electrical tape really resists being pulled along its length, but when it does give it sucks up the energy and then once the stretching force is gone it contracts back.

Mamid discovers this as the tape merely soaks up her pulling and then contracts back so that the half inch of slack gained gets taken up again nearly instantly. While she is discovering this I consider running a couple of wraps around her upper arms and chest but she has her waist length hair down and I don't want to catch her raven mane in the tape. About a minute goes by total and Mamid pulls with everything she has. The tape holds and Mamid realizes she is inescapably bound and a little bit of fear comes into her eyes with that realization.

As we are not scening and the kids are up still I decide to cut her loose. She holds her wrists out again and I saw the tape apart. She's still a little excited and I ask her what the problem is. Her reply?

"Its your fault. You looked at me!"

I collapse in laughter. After I recover she explains that I had a 'look' in eye which told her she was in trouble and that I was mentally gauging the BDSM potential of the tape. Now my question to you folk is:

Do any of you get a recognizable 'look' or expression which tells your partner that things are about to happen? Is this a very obvious thing do you think or is it only because your partner knows you? If it is something we all have I also wonder if this amounts to a BDSM tell, similar to a 'tell' in poker?

i am a firm believer in The Look, The Voice, and The Luagh

each of which have the potential to make squirm in nervouse anticipation

very much so, for some of us though I've heard it's very obvious, whilst I've been informed from ym pyl that my "look" and "voice" are still hard for to pick up on. But I guess i have a laugh that always tells her. Makes sense, cus I seem to have a lauhg for every situation. lol

I don't know if I have "the look" in the Toppish sense of the word, but I can say most emphatically that there are times I just have to look at my eldest and say "Dude." in the proper tone of voice, and he is all about admitting his screw up(s), and apologizing. LOL

(I do presume, however, that the ability to give said looks, would translate pretty easily to other situations...)

Hmm.

From what I read Penalt, Mamid actually saw "the look" when it wasn't there?

You were just dealing with the tape and she saw what she wanted to see?

I do that from time to time.

*sigh*

My ex used to have a 'look' but also had a thing about adjusting his belt. It was more of a subconcious thing for him to do, he never really realised he did it, just something I came to recognise as a gesture he was about to assert himself.

We've been seperated 7 months now but he still comes to pick our son up. He doesn't usually come in the house but mid December I asked him to come in & get the Xmas decorations out the loft where he put them last year. I dont know if I was glad or not that my teenager was off school when he stopped right by me, stared & did the belt adjusting routine. :D

Indeed, it is rather subconscious

LOL, great story Penalt!

Yes, my Joe definitely has a look about him. I call it his "Dom Mode" He isn't aware of it, but when I see it I instantly feel myself go deeper into my submissive mindset. It's very arousing!

as a dom, it is your sworn duty to use your "look" only for good, and never for evil

.... unless off course, the situation calls for a little evil

hehehe, is that the fine print on those D/s contracts? I really should learn to start reading all of it before signing it. good thing I follow that anyways, then again, doesn't the Dom decide when teh situation calls for a bit of evil as long as it doens't violate said contract?

I'm not convinced this is a D/s exclusive thing at all. Yes, partners can have a look which warns of various things from good to bad, but I have also been able to read the same thing in previous vanilla partners, my children, family members, friends, clients, etc. It is all about being able to read people more so than a mysterious communication only Dom/mes can portray. Of course, I have also had people read my looks, often incorrectly, but they insist they are right and know what I am thinking or about to do...they wish!!

hehe, true, when you get to know anyone, you begin to notice certain tendancies that signify one thing or another... then you ge tthose really spontatneous people who you never can tell.

LOL..great story, first of all. and to answer Your question, yes, Master DOES have a 'look' and that look definantly gets me into my more 'submissive mindset' He also has 'the voice', when He uses the voice He automatically throws me into my subbie mindset.... for lack of a better word. He's done it accidentally before, He was losing HIs voice and THAT voice was the only voice He could use...and He was driving me crazy with it..LOL..

He looked at me. Looked at it. Cocked an eyebrow. Looked at me. And I knew if I didn't do what I had done, he was going to do it anyway!

Welllll, to be perfectly honest when I look at just about anything I consider its potential for 'fun'. It could have just been synchronisity.

MEMO

To: Self
From: Self

We need to come up with a less obvious manner of conducting ourselves when evaluating materials for use. If our lovely one can detect it that easily it is possible that others might as well. In other words when we go to MECO to get climbing rope we must appear that we are getting the rope for climbing and not for harnessing our dark haired mare. Also, we should consider carrying some ribbon or similar on our person at all times for when further opportunities arise.

Took about 5 seconds tops.

Memo to self from self:

Do NOT let him anywhere near the MEC. Do NOT let him use your membership there.

althought a shop soon to get a new back pack for day-to-day use might be a good idea.

I've been told I have a certain laugh, but I've yet to figure that out. It's just a laugh, as far as I'm concerned.

So there is a 'tell' as it were. I had wondered. I do tend to pitch my voice certain ways for certain things. I just didn't know I had a 'look' too. Gonna have to be careful with that.

Cute story. ;)

So does electrical tape hurt more than duct tape when removed??
