The lit old timers thread

I remember them both, @someplace is on my follow list from the old days :) Hi someplace šŸ™ƒ
Going thru all this and talking with @just pet last night and seeing who all she's networked with has been crazy. I'm trying to track down a few folks I miss from the old days like Etoile, Redelicious, Raven & Akasha, and a few others. Who knows.
At some point if you and I get to talk IRL I'll have to tell you about how I ended up with someone who was secretly stalking me from here.
I’d love to hear the tale someday.

So this is just an observation from an older guy about some of the music threads on this site. I regularly visit them, looking, hoping to find music I recognize and enjoy but no go. I scroll through and find songs and artists that I've never heard of. I didn't think I was that old and out of touch but maybe so. That is all. Carry on.

My doc asked me what I would like and I told him that I didn't want to hurt in the morning when I got up from bed. He laughed at me.
Poor thor. You know you said something ridiculous when your dr laughs at you.

New Year Greetings to you all! My daughters (who live 1-1/2 hours driving time apart) kept the family very busy with holiday happenings back and forth. I'm grateful they've taken over the holiday duties so now I just have to "help" here and there.

Christmas Eve Party with Santa and a houseful of kids up here, where I spent the night to finish wrapping gifts -- since the parents/party hosts had asked me to remove take their kids on an adventure that day while they finished party preparations (during my previously scheduled wrapping time). I awoke to see everyone open gifts, though in that house everyone has to watch each person unwrap each gift and comment on it. A process that took 3 hours. SHEESH. I had places to go! hahahaha I raced down south to help the other daughter (aka The Princess, and a long time vegetarian) cook her first prime rib roast. We had one crisis moment when she realized the instructions I'd given were for a bone-IN roast while hers was a boneLESS one. An SOS text to a chef friend of ours (former bandmate of Blues) calmed her down. Whew! (It turned out wonderfully). Another freakin' houseful (most of the same folks from the night before "See you at the next thing..."). I spent the night down there because Christmas is a 3-day event in our family with a huge Boxing Day open house at The Princess' house. There was no sense in driving back & forth. It was too cold outside for the reptile petting zoo she books for the kids every year. So, it was wall-too-wall kids in the living room with a LOT of snakes, lizards, geckos, at least one baby alligator with its mouth taped shut and a giant land tortoise trying to escape in the entry way. It's an open plan house so most of the adults watched from the kitchen. In the old days I'd call a "Jammy Day" when I needed to recoup. This year I had a Jammy WEEK which has actually been kinda nice. I'm planning a super-exciting afternoon -- cleaning out my refrigerator. Don't be jealous!

And all THAT was the week after a huge group of us went to a big dinner downtown before going to the Nutcracker at the opera house. Everyone all decked out in fancy clothes. The family has been going tor decades. Interestingly my ex-husband didn't remember that being a tradition started while we were still together. He claimed it was something he did for the girls. Dude. I was there and it was probably my idea. :) Anyway....this year was the first time for my 5 yr old granddaughter and her 7 yr old brother to attend. They have both been taking dance lessons the past year. Ballet and tap for her, hip hop for him. They both behaved pretty well. He sat next to me and at one time held my hand. So cute. There were so many of us, we took up 2 boxes (which is a much better scenario when attending with several children). She was in the other box and I looked over to see her absolutely enthralled with the performance -- even copying the ballet arm movements a few times. It made my night.

That is so cool! And more importantly, it sounds like good advice whenever taking multiple children to the opera house.

Now I want to pet an alligator.

Check out the lovely Savannah Boan on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/savannahboan/
She's the good will ambassador for Gatorland Florida, her feed is basically her frolicking with pods of gators who're each large enough to swallow her whole.
Also, hoping she'll forgive me for sharing stories, @ImiGirrst almost got eaten by gators once so she might have a different take on that desire.

I joined in 2011 under a different user name, but in 2022, I was unable to login so I created this new one. None of the ā€œold timersā€ recognize me now.
(And now when I try logging in with my older user name it says there’s no user by that name, yet I can ā€œseeā€ my old profile. Go figure.)
I must admit I don’t visit or post as much as I used to.

Are you sure you have the right password?

Even if you do have the right username and password, it can be a problem. While I have been lucky enough to maintain my original identity, the software here is old by internet standards and prone to problems.
