Hi A/all....I was just wondering about something. How many of us actually go to the chats here at lit? And of those of us that do, how have they affected your life? Do you feel that the friends you make in chat are "true friends", or just some name on a screen that calls you sis/bro? I myself, love it here, and consider all those I call friend to be a "true friend". *smiles*:p :p :p

Welcome to the bb, MistressSilver.

There are quite of few of us here that used to spend most of our time in the chat room. I spent most of my time there for a couple of years and still have a couple of very good friends from there.

I found the BB though and stay here now, and have made a couple of friends here as well.

Did something happen in the chats that made people want to leave? Or was it just a case of--okay, I've seen this and done that..time for something new?

They seem to be empty most of the time. Besides this board move pretty fast.

Hi MistressSilver.

After first discovering Lit for the stories, I eventually headed to Lit's chat room where I ultimately resided in Syd's hot tub. I've been through several stages in the "chat world", and found an amazing man there who I keep in constant contact with in other ways.

I feel like I've met a good group of people in chat, yet lost interest in hanging out there since I was no longer interested in cybering, flirting and such. Chat provides, however, a quicker way of conversing with others and has it's benefits.

The Boards introduced me to another group of wonderful people, and keep me interested in the various topics and groups that travel on here.

I am also pleased to notice a lot more chat "regulars" spending more time on the boards as well. The BBs seem to allow more nonthreatening personalization, and I've actually found quite a few interesting topics along the way (along with some interesting debates).

I left because it wasn't fun for me there anymore.

Nope, I'm just not a "chat" type person. My time is spent on the bb in the morning at breakfast and again before bed. It is limited, so I choose to spend it all here.

I have never been to the chat room here on Lit. I am not a chat kind of person. I have been curious about them though. But the BB is enough for me.

The only reason I was ever at Lit chat was to meet someone there..

For awhile that was our appointed place. We have sinced moved to yahoo..but sometimes we like to go to some of the rooms on Lit chat and play;)

Hello MistressSilver!

I used to hang out in chat like I do here now. I still go, but not nearly as much as I used to. Like Shylady said, it wasn't fun anymore. I have made many friends on this site, I have a few great friends that I hope I will never lose. I also met my love in the tub (must be something in the water, huh Jenny ;) ) They are 'true friends'! I love every one of them! :)

I have been to the chat rooms here at lit. Once in a awhile i go back, but when i was going to them I never really stayed long enough to get to know anyone very well. I have been part of other chat rooms and I did make friends. They remain my friends today. I think friends are friends no matter where you make them. The problem with chat rooms is that people often are different than the the first impression they give. It takes sometime to really know someone and to get past the persona they put forward. I like the boards for several reasons. First and foremost because i can be long winded.lol. I also think that because it is slower you can get a feel for those that interest you even before you communicate directly with them. I like that.

I thought that myself Estevie... some love potion or something floating between the bubbles! Both places are nice, but I am more comfortable here since I consider myself part of a couple.:)

I think you are absolutely right about needing time to get to know people in chats...but for some reason, whenever I log on, I feel a sense of coming home...not really sure why..but I do. I used to chat in the lounge almost exclusively, but (again, you are right) it got really boring and repetitive, so I left for about 5 or 6 months. When I cam back, I found a new room to chat in--the D/s room, and now I feel more welcome there sometimes than I do in my own home. At the end of my day, I can sit and describe to my partner things that have happened in the room, and he always says that I sound as if it happened irl. I really don't like that term--irl...for me, the chat is a part of my"irl". Has anyone else felt that way at one point? Oh, and by the way...how to tell you spend too much time in a chat room? You think in chat abbreviations..such as when you leave a room momentarily, you think and start to say outloud--brb--I actually said that once to my husband...lol..he looked at me like I had lost it...but the worst was when my toddler did something cute and I said, outloud, lmao...just the letters...ty Goddess...Then I knew it was time to take a break from chatting.

While at one time, I was a chat room junkie, I found that it took up too much of my time. I write for four to six hours a day and have a life as well. The boards allow me to keep in touch, develop friendships and not have to stay on line for hours at a time.

chatting

I have tried both the chat and the BB. The chat was just to intimidating at times. I enjoy reading on both the chat and the BB; but I find the BB "family" more fun. I've just started posting on here (my newest "Baby step") a few days ago. I may never go back to the Chat. :)

I tried the chat once. No one was there so I haven't been back. I find the BB is a better way to express my feelings and meet people.

I agree, Yahoo chat is much better.

go to the live chat, not the chat at the bb. It is always full.

Syd's Tub is my chat home

I agree with the "homey" feeling in Lit chat, especially for me in the hot tub. As mentioned earlier, that tub was the catalyst to several "couplings" since I've visited here, and my favorite time there now is when I join Oman to catch up with our friends.

I also agree with the "irl" idea. The time spent with the people here is "real time" as far as I'm concerned! Oman had me laughing when we tried to LOL on the phone! My email is the victim of chat/BB now... full of the abbreviations! Your story gives you away, doesn't it? Thanks for sharing it with us!:)

I chat in the Tub on Lit on a semi-regular basis. I really enjoy the people I've met there. Some of them much more than others ;)

I've just found the BB and can see the attraction. For all the reasons above I believe I'll be spending more time here.

Things happen in the chats all the time..**** things, sad things, angry things, sexy things...

But chat takes up a lot of REAL time to participate...the BB is wonderful way to hang out but still carry on in the real world...

Lit chat was fun a couple years ago, they had some very funny people in there. Then after the CM's appeared the really funny ones like Smooches just seem to fade away.

He didn't want back in. Way too many two faced people and posers in there. All the ones that made it a funny as hell chat had left by then any way.

;) :D
