One of my favorite childhood books.

Matter of fact, I bought The Chronicles of Narnia for my nephew for Christmas.

If truth be told, I was tossing up between the LOTR books and the Narnia Chronicles.

Narnia won cos I wanted to read 'em again :D

Narnia rocks! :D
I wish everyone could get it! :)

read a heartbreaking work of staggering genious. im reading it now. its one of the best books so far. really really good.

I saw the series at Barnes and Noble the other day, almost bought it just cause I would love to re-read them. But I'm not sure they'd hold the same facination for me now as they did when I was a child and then I'd be disappointed.

After I read those books, I had an obsession with checking the backs of closets... Heehee. :)

mmm... christianity diguised as fantasy fiction... sounds like fun to me!

yep, just like the matrix.

i think its cool though. if you wanna read about christianity you can read his teachin style books.. i think he does a good job of keeping the fantasy books just that..fantasy..

i've read mere christianity and some of his other books as well, but the christian symbolism and parallels are pretty hard to deny in the various narnia books. not that there is anything wrong with that, i'm just making an observation.

i hear what your sayin.. i love seeing those kind of things..but some people dont do it well..instead of making parallels they go to far..

you're right, lexie. The parallels have been documented by a gazillion others. C.S. Lewis was quite fond of rolling around in dogma. His Screwtape Letters was pretty fun. *laughing*

However, he is a fantastic writer, and parallel or not, The Chronicles of Narnia was an amazing experience for me as a child.

During my 10th winter, my mom read the entire series to my father and I. Of course, we were intensely religious, therefor it was good in their eyes in that scope, but I fell in love with the story; talking animals, different worlds, classic struggles between good and evil.

As I got older, I read more of C.S. Lewis and realized the parallels, but it didn't lessen my enjoyment. I even named one of my dogs Caspian for the prince that appeared in one of the later novels.

It was nice to escape into fantasy for a bit, and I'll always appreciate them for that.

*Runs in, tackles Perky and kisses her all over.*

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I love Narnia. Best books for growing up!
