New York City was known for its population, good food and also hard ass lawyers that thought they were hot shit. But most were actually, there was a law office known for expensive lawyers. But if you needed something done right they were the people to call, Wolfman and Heart was the name of the lawyers there. Everyone knew about them, even one particular girl who had no idea what the day would bring to her. In the city was an eighteen year old who just finished high school.

She was told years ago she should be a model, and after high school she tried out for it. The people there said that she had the beautiful face, and bone structure. But she was there inches to short and her breasts were not big enough. Now Rose would never change her breasts just to be a model, and being taller was something that would never happen. So she just figured she would never see the light of day, so she was trying to find a job to do.

Rose had no idea what to expect any more, she just knew she was hungry and needed some lunch. So she went to a diner that she went to a lot, she though about being a waitress to ask the owner if they were hiring. But she just did not want to do something like that, she wanted to be a secretary or something. But she did what she had to do. She went to the booth that she always sat at, and ordered what she always did.

When she was waiting for her meal to come, sipping on her diet soda she noticed a man coming in. The way he dressed she could tell he had money, the way he walked she felt he was a lawyer. Kind of the "I am confident in what I am doing career wise" Rose caught his eyes for a second and she just smiled. Sitting back as she just relaxed a little bit. Wondering who he was, though she had to try very hard to not stare at him.

Gregory Heart was a 32 year old lawyer that had everything that anyone could ever want. He had a penthouse apartment that overlooked Central Park. He had the finest furniture, artwork, and clothing. He worked for his father's law firm, and he had not been given anything, despite the fact that his father was the boss. He worked his ass off to get everything. He was ruthless in the courtroom and out. It was probably why he did not have many close friends. He had a lot of acquaintances, but nobody that he would consider close. Many of his acquaintances were that way because they wanted something from him and knew he was powerful enough to get it.

Greg went into the diner because he knew that there would not be anyone there that he knew, and that way he could think about the case that he was on. When he did not see a booth, he got upset. He did not want to sit out at a table, but he had no choice. He sat at a table and laid the file down. After removing his coat he went to work on the file. He was short with the waitress that came to take his order. "Turkey club white toast and a diet coke." He did not even make eye contact with her.

When his food came he closed the file and pushed it aside. Only then did he look around. In the booth next to him was an attractive young woman who seemed a little disheveled. He looked away, but couldn't help but look back at her. There was something about her that kept his eyes moving back to her.

Rose was rather mysterious people who went to school with her gave her the nick name "Mystery" because she hardly ever talked. And when she did talk, the most educated answers came out of her. Like she was a genius. Though her IQ was extremely high and learned much faster then most people. Hence why she was able to graduate two years early of high school. She knew many languages and even sign language since her mother had been deaf, she was intelligent for an eighteen year old.

But she felt him looking at her again, she gave him no mind. And could tell he was not very happy, having to sit at the table. Things started to roll through her head, about what she should do. She brushed her blond hair out of her eyes, her eyes were dark brown and she smiled when her food came to her. It was a cheese burger with fries and a chicken salad, she enjoyed the food there since it was rather nice. But the more she thought of the man, the more he seemed like he could use someone to talk to.

Her dark brown eyes looked up at the guy and was thinking about what to say to him, she was dressed in a simple outfit. Dark blue jeans and a black t-shirt with a blue jeans jacket on, sighing a bit as she took a bite of her salad. Enjoying the chunks of chicken with her favorite salad dressing a thousand island. And wiped her mouth making sure there was no food in her mouth before she spoke. "If you would like to sit here I don't mind the company" Rose said for the first time actually speaking.

He saw the woman eating her salad and her cheeseburger. He was struck by her simple dress. She was someone that he never imagined would catch his attention. He was accustomed to being around women who were well dressed all the time and were from high society. The simplicity of this woman struck him.

"What? Oh, no. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been looking at you. I just was looking around. My table is fine." Greg was a little pissed at himself. He got caught looking at her... almost staring. He was better than that. He never let himself get caught like that. Why had he allowed it to happen with this woman? Then he looked back at her. "He made eye contact with her on purpose this time. "I am sorry. I didn't mean to be short with you. I also didn't mean to stare at you. It was very impolite while you are enjoying your meal. Please let me pay for your meal as my sincere apology."

Rose looked at him and gave him just a rather soft smile, it was one of those things she wanted and to relax. But right now she just did not really seem to care. She was use to people acting a certain way around her. She smiled a little bit. Brushing her hand against her cheek and could not help but smile a bit. Hearing him apologize was rather unique for a lawyer, when he said he was okay with his table. She could tell he was lying, she tilted her head just a little bit and chuckled very lightly.

"Are all lawyers like you? Perhaps I am wrong but I am never wrong, you are no more happy with your table then I would be." She said with him looking at him at a certain way, she honestly was rather happy with what was going on, really all in all everything happened for a reason she thought. Rose sat back as she ate her cheeseburger thinking about what to say to him, but she went silent. Figuring he would take what she said the wrong way, she sucked at making small talk. That much she knew and that much she hated about herself, but she made due with what she had.

He looked at her when she asked about lawyers. How did she know he was a lawyer? Was it that easy to tell? He continued to look at her as he wondered what she was up to. was she just being a smart ass? Was she trying to engage him in a conversation? Was she trying to piss him off and just trying to get a rise out of him?

"Tell me something... How did you know I was a lawyer? Is there something stamped on my forehead that says it? Or is there something about me that gave it away?" He continued to look at her. He could not believe that he was engaging this young woman in conversation. He would never normally talk to anyone during his lunch break from court. There was something about this woman that captured his attention and he was not sure what it was. He stared at her and awaited her answer.

Rose finished up her meal, she was a fast eater but she was not a pig while doing it. She ate everything lady like just a bit faster. She was enjoying the meal and had a feeling that he was still looking at her, or at least thinking of her. Silently sighing as she began to think about all the kinds of things he could say to her. If he said anything at all of course, all in all everything just seemed rather nice. She paid for her meal and made sure not to leave a mess on the table or on her for that matter.

When he said what he did she looked up and slipped her coat on, standing up she actually sat down next to him. "Well besides the way you dress, to a person who knows about human behavior I know enough. I know you prefer booths so you can truly be in your own little zone, so you can sit by yourself and relax. But its the way you walk, you have a determined walk like you do what you have to not caring about anything else. It is not stamped on your head, its stamped on how you walk and how you talk"

He took her check off of her table. "I have this." Then he handed her his business card. "See, you were right. You are very perceptive. I am impressed." He watched her look at the card and then he said, "I know this is rather forward, but would you consider having dinner with me.?"

He never did things like this. Greg was not someone that normally talked with people out of his normal circle and he did not ask women that he was not familiar with to go out with him. That was probably why he was single and had never really been in a relationship with a woman.

Rose watched as he took her check and smiled a little bit, the smile a thank you for him. But then she watched him produce a card from his pocket. Looking down at it she smiled seeing his name there. And she took it putting it in her pocket to make sure she did not lose it. Looking into his eyes she saw something there, he was rather good looking and not to bad to talk to. Least not bad yet, things could change she knew. People could change quickly, much like how people go from hot to cold that is bipolar.

But then hearing his question she was actually taking back by it, he was asking a stranger out on a date? but why not she had never been on one. She grabbed a napkin and put in her cell number and where she lived and pushed it toward him. "I would like that Greg, and my name is Rose Turner" She said offering him her name since she knew his already. Tilting her head a bit she grew even more curious of the man. All in all she was rather happy and had a feeling something would come of this.

He stood up and shook her hand. "I'll pick you up at 8. Just tell me where to pick you up." He was happy to hear her say yes. He was a little surprised, but he wasn't going to complain.

He started to wonder what to do with her that night. He didn't even know where he was going to pick her up yet, and he was already worrying about what they were going to do. Why was he feeling this way? He never felt nervous. He battled with the most powerful men in the city. He represented the most powerful men in the city. He never felt nervous. He never was at a loss for words. He never felt panicked. Why was he feeling this now?

Rose smiled a bit at him she sensed something was up here, and enjoyed the thought about trying to relax. Everything was beyond perfect in that moment, but she could honestly sense what was going to happen. When he asked where to pick her up, she pointed to her address. "You can pick me up here, I will be ready probably half an hour early. Since I do not want to be late for you, since something tells me you like time and prefer everything and everyone to be on time. Which is rather reasonable"

Sighing a little bit as she just allowed everything to stay as is, rubbing her neck and placed her free hand on his shoulder. "Can't wait" Rose added and headed out of the diner, humming a bit as she headed home. She grinned a little bit feeling rather happy that she spoke up today. Never did she think this would happen. It was rather nice, and once home she sat on her couch and decided to watch some t.v for a while. Knowing she would be right on time, since she already knew what outfit she would be wearing.

Greg returned to court. He walked into the courtroom and was immediately on his game. He was defending a mob underboss in a murder and racketeering trial and he had the District Attorney spinning his wheels. Greg had an answer for every move that the DA tried and he was on his way to gaining an acquittal.

When court adjourned for the day Greg went back to his apartment. He showered and put on a clean suit. He called the car service and told them that he needed a car for the night. The driver picked him up outside of the building at 7:15.... at 7:45 he was outside the diner. He got out of the car and said hello to Rose.

Rose had a rather relaxed afternoon and she hopped into the shower about six, just to wash off the stress of the day. Thinking about how this was going to go, being on a date was something very new to her. But she just decided to dress as herself, though she had no idea what to wear what kind of place he would be taking her. She just decided on a black skirt and a white blouse, looking at the reflection of her. She smiled happily at herself, and once her hair was dried she put it up on to of her head. Then once done she headed over to the diner and smiled seeing him. "Good evening" She said kissing his cheek.

Greg looked at Rose. "You look beautiful this evening Rose." He put his arm around her lightly as she kissed him on the cheek. He was very impressed with how she looked. He liked the fact that she wasn't dressed up in an outfit that cost thousands of dollars. It always drove him crazy to see how women dolled themselves up in outfits that were so gaudy and all they really said was "hey look at me." Rose was dressed beautifully, but it was not meant to draw everyone's attention to her.... although Greg was certain that there would be many guys whose eyes would be drawn to her.

Greg took Rose's hand and helped her into the rear seat of the car after waving the driver back to the car. After closing the door he went around and got into the car from the street side. The driver pulled away from the curb and headed toward the predetermined first stop of the night. Greg looked at Rose, "thank you so much for agreeing to come out with me tonight. I feel extremely lucky to be in your company."

They rode for a while with Greg asking questions about Rose in an attempt to get to know her. Then the driver pulled to the curb and opened the door to let them out. They walked into the building and rode the elevator to the roof-top restaurant. When they walked in they were 30 minutes early for their reservation. Greg asked Rose if she would like to sit in the lounge and have a drink while they waited.

Rose looked at him and she really was not all that dressed up, she never believed in putting five pounds of makeup on just to perhaps get laid. No Rose was rather simple, sure she had on makeup but not enough to drawn a human being. She just had on some black eye liner, black eye shadow and a dark plum color for lipstick. She was rather nervous, this being her first real date and everything. All in all she had no idea how this was going to go, she just smiled not wanting to seem really stupid.

But then he started asking her some questions "Well both of my parents are gone, I have a little of insurance money left. But I get only what I need, I graduated high school three years early and was the valedictorian. I was told a few months ago I would be great as a model if I was three inches taller and I had bigger breasts. But I would never get a boob job just for a stupid modeling job. I mean I get it everyone drools over models, but I refuse to get double C breasts. One C cup is fine with me."

Eden said with a laugh, though she was Twenty she was never carded so she could get drinks when she wanted. When he suggested it she nodded her head and followed him in, she remembered this place. She had been here once as a little girl. Sitting down in the lounge she ordered what Greg got and sat relaxing a bit. But noticed a piano something the owner loved, she had played here once as a child since she knew the owner pretty well. And actually had an idea, and began to tell him what no one knew.

"I am also a music savant I can play at least ten different things, I played here once as a child since I know the owner. Perhaps I should play something, will help you get a better feel for the person that you are on a date with" Eden suggested, though if he was not interested it was fine. She was just pretty much throwing herself out there so he could get a better idea about her. Her music spoke for herself really. It showed her what no one knew about her, that she was more vulnerable and lonely then she puts on.

Greg listened to her intently. He enjoyed being with her. She talked freely and it was refreshing. Most of the people in his social circle only talked about things that would in some way benefit them. They never talked in a way that let the other person truly get to know you. It felt good to be with her.

They sat a small table. He ordered the drinks and continued to listen Rose. There was something about her that made him comfortable. He was able to relax around her and enjoy himself. He wasn't concerned about making sure that he maintained a particular image.

"I would love to hear you play the piano. I think that would be great." He offered rose his hand and helped her out of the chair. He walked her over to the piano and watched as she sat down to play. Greg found a chair and pulled it over close to the piano bench. He wanted to watch Rose play as well as listen to her. He smiled as she began to play.

Rose was rather happy and knew that it was all to perfect of a situation and when he helped her out of her seat, she walked over with him to the piano and the people there knew her. She whispered something into the ears of some of the men who played different instruments. And she grinned a little bit, the song she would sing they knew it all to well. It was a simple piece that she had written forever ago. It was a rather nice moment, and was relaxing a tiny bit. Sitting on the bench she moved over so he could sit.

Taking a deep breath as she was nervous as all hell, looking over at Greg she smiled even more. Feeling more comfortable. This song she would sing would help him see the kind of woman she was, she looked up at the men and nodded to them. This area was rather popular for all kind of entertainment and she wanted to cause some happiness here. So she began to play the piano at a rather nice pace. The tune of the song was rather nice, it was soothing and it was something she wanted.

"Where are the people that accused me?
The ones who beat me down and bruised me
They hide just out of sight
Can't face me in the light
They'll return but I'll be stronger

God, I want to dream again
Take me where I've never been
I want to go there
This time I'm not scared
Now I am unbreakable, it's unmistakable
No one can touch me
Nothing can stop me

Sometimes it's hard to just keep going
But faith is moving without knowing
Can I trust what I can't see
To reach my destiny
I want to take control but I know better

God, I want to dream again
Take me where I've never been
I want to go there
This time I'm not scared
Now I am unbreakable, it's unmistakable
No one can touch me
Nothing can stop me

Forget the fear it's just a crutch
That tries to hold you back
And turn your dreams to dust
All you need to do is just trust

God, I want to dream again (I want to dream again)
Take me where I've never been
I want to go there (I want to go there)
This time I'm not scared
Now I am unbreakable, it's unmistakable (I am unbreakable)
No one can touch me (No one can touch me)
Nothing can stop me God, I want to dream again (I want to dream again)
Take me where I've never been
I want to go there (I want to go there)
This time I'm not scared
Now I am unbreakable, it's unmistakable (I am unbreakable)
No one can touch me (No one can touch me)
Nothing can stop me"

Song

Chris was amazed at what he heard from Rose. The lyrics told a story and he had a feeling that it was her story. He felt that she really wanted to know about her and it made him feel good. Rose poured out her heart in the song.... and it was more than the lyrics. It was the emotion that poured out of her voice.

When she was finished he couldn't help himself. He stood up and began to clap. He led the other people in the lounge in a rousing ovation for Rose. Then he leaned over and kissed her softly on the lips. "That was incredible. The lyrics were great and your voice is spectacular. You have so much talent," he whispered to her.

He took her hand and led her toward the dining room. Their table was ready and he was anxious to spend some time alone with Rose. He walked with her, his hand on the small of her back, as they followed the hostess to their table. When they got to the quiet table in the back, he pulled the chair out for Rose and, after she sat down, he slid it in for her. He sat across from her, smiled at her. "Who was it that hurt you Rose?"

Rose felt herself let go as she sang the song, it was rather nice and she felt so damn free. Which was why she loved to play the piano, normally she would not do it. But she felt that she could explain herself so much easier this way. And she stopped playing once the song was over, and was off in her own little world for a second. But was broken out of it and watched Greg doing what he did, and soon she watched everyone standing up and clapping for her. She blushed heavily in that moment.

She was humble and she walked over to the table with him and sat down, looking up at him she heard his question and silently sighed. "Five years ago when I was still in high school, I had this thing for a guy and I thought he liked me to. But when we were watching a movie he wanted to have sex with me, I almost let him to. But when I went into the bathroom to take a shower first, since it had been one of those days where I was ramming around. I heard him make a phone call and on the other end he said I was an easy lay.

The son of a bitch had a bet that he could be the first person I ever slept with, so I walked out of the bathroom with a towel over myself. I actually punched him and broke his nose, course I broke a knuckle at the same time. He actually hit me and I called the police on him and he spent some time in prison. Come to find out he had a record of hitting women, so yeah it took me a whole five years to trust someone. You are the first person I opened myself up to" She said looking up into his eyes.

He listened intently to her story. He wanted to know every detail. He wanted to know what hurt her. He wanted to know who hurt her. He wanted to see if there was anything he could do to help her. It felt so good to be with her. There was something so special about her and he hardly knew her.

"Rose, this guy... has he tried to contact you since he got out of prison?" Greg wanted to know this because if he was trying to do anything to her Greg would be able to help her. He wanted to make sure that she did not get hurt again.

When the waitress came he told her they needed a few minutes and that he would call her over when they were ready. "Rose, your emotions just poured out there. You were wonderful and you were captivating."

Rose could not help but smile a little bit it was nice to be able to talk to someone. But then again she remembered that she was talking to a lawyer here. Sitting back she enjoyed the wine and looked up into his eyes. Thinking about him and knew everything that he sighed a little bit, it was a rather nice moment. Her eyes showed a sadness and it was a rather nice time, sighing a little bit. Enjoying the full thing. Looking around she enjoyed the environment and was rather nice, this place perfect.

"His name is Markus Parker and he is up to get out, but he told me he would make me pay for what he did. Once he is out he probably would beat me to death, that is the kind of person he is you know? And only way you would be able to help me, you would have to be able to keep his ass in prison. And since I have no proof that he threatened to hurt me once out, their is nothing that you can do Greg. Unless you have a magic wand that you can use in certain cases" She smiled a little at him.

Greg smiled at Rose. He had a lot more pull than Rose realized. She knew that he was a lawyer, but she had no idea about how powerful he was. He knew all the right people in all the right places. He could do an awful lot. In fact he was already formulating a plan in his mind.

"Rose, I don't have a magic wand, but I am capable of getting things done. I know a lot of people on both sides of the law. You see, it is important to be able to play both sides of the fence. I am able to do things and get things done. Markus Parker will not bother you when he gets out. I am certain of that."

He took a sip of his wine and he looked at Rose. He smiled at her and tried to reassure her that she was going to be okay. He wanted to make sure that she knew that he had her back. He was going to take care of her.

Rose heard what he said and it actually was surprised, and sipping her wine she looked up into his eyes and actually saw how serious he was. She actually trusted him and nodded a little bit to him. Enjoying the thought of being protected by him. It was seriously nice and had no idea what the hell she did to deserve him. But when he had given her a piece of his heart she smiled a little bit, and ran her fingers against his. It was really nice, grinning a little bit she just nodded to him, showing she believed him.

"What in the world did I do to deserve you Greg? Your sweet to be giving me your time, I use to think lawyers only dated each other. Yet you want to spend time with a middle class girl, when it is very obvious that you have a lot of money. Though I don't like you for that of course, some women are gold diggers. Me I just want a man to love me and to treat me, well treat me how you are treating me now" She said content and glad that he was as sweet as he was. She judged him to harshly before.

HE looked at her and listened to her. "Rose, the people that are in my social circle are not real. They are people that have money and they want to keep their money so, they associate with people that have money in hopes of making more money. I grew up with money. My father is one of the founders of the law firm I am employed by. It was determined at a young age that I would practice law. I enjoy it. I enjoy the rush I get from winning. I enjoy the power that I get from defending powerful people... on both sides of the law."

He waited to see what her reaction would be to him saying that. "However, I have never enjoyed associating with most of the people that are in the social circle I was born into. When I saw you today in the diner there was something about you." He hesitated for a second.

"It had nothing to do with the fact that you had a booth and I had a table. Yea, I was a little pissed that I didn't get a booth but that wasn't your fault. I am not sure what it was, but I couldn't take my eyes off of you. You are a beautiful woman, but it was more than that. Something told me that I had to meet you... I had to spend time with you... I had to get to know you. I am so happy that you agreed to come out with me tonight."

Rose looked up at him as he spoke she could not help but smile, thinking about what he said and chuckled a little bit. Sipping her wine she enjoyed talking to him, she was a unique soul and she thought she found her match in him. Crossing one leg over the other as she listened to Greg he was the kind of guy she wanted to spend time with. Which was why she agreed to go on this date with him, she looked up into his eyes and thought for a moment. Everything was just so relaxed and rather nice.

"My father never trusted lawyers I guess one screwed him years ago before I was even born. But dad would have liked you, he saw people the way I see people. I have a small gift of being able to gauge peoples motives for things, I can tell easily if someone lies. Dad use to call me his little lie detector. But I also see things in people you know? I can tell a person who had an easy life or a hard life. Dad liked who I liked so he would wrap his arm around you, telling you that you better treat his little girl right.

Or he has a double barrel shot gun under his bed, and would hunt you down and kill you if you hurt me" She chuckled a bit. "Though I got rid of the gun I hate guns, even little hand guns. I had an uncle kill himself a few years ago was my grandfathers little thing. But I see things in you Greg it was the only reason I said yes to you today. I see a more softer side then anyone sees, and I like what I have seen so far. So I guess in time we will see where this goes" She said with a soft smile on her face.
