Another odd question my wife came out with the other day>>>

If you could add one new law to the statuate books in your country what would it be?

C.

Well as some one who's had the joy of visiting Amsterdam I'd flip a coin and make either dope or brothel's legal......"Flip".......YAY......brothel's are now legal, let's all go out and get laid in safe clean brothel's :p

laws

Well right now where I live the provincial government is passing a bill making it illegalg for the nurses to go on strike.

If I was to pass a law then governments would not be able to pass bills like that taking away a persons right to strike

Is there a right to strike?
Especially in critical areas. My freind is a roofer who thought he had the right to strike along with his budiies in ATC when President Reagan was in charge.

Generally, I am against government intrusion.

But right now you have one nurse to about 8 pateints currently with aids doing the work and families being told that they are responsible to provide basic care.

I feel for the nurse and the patient has a vested interest too.

Yes AJ there is the right to strike, why should it matter if it is a critical area or not. Just because I choose to become a nurse shouldn't give the government the right to say i can't strike because i am a nurse but some one else can because they are a coal miner or steel worker. Never have I seen a strike by nurses or other hospital workers that the wasn't care given to the patients.

I've never seen a nursing strike. You are right things would still run. Nurses are the first line to spot things though, I no the doctors rely on my spouse a lot. I know everyone is currently so pressed at least here in the field, that the absence of just one due to illness put's pateints at risk.

Currently, they cannot even fill open positions.

Well Jenny it is the same here but we are the lowest paid nurses in the country and the government is coming out with this law while we are in mediation and not even thinking strike yet.

Thanks. Maybe we better give this thread back to c. We are doing a good job of hi-jacking it!

I change my mind.

Legalize hemp!

Yes Nite!

I am one of those people!

When they cancelled the fawking World Series, I never came back.

I don't mind chatter amongst yourselves...

My law for who counts , is that people who litter,
get made to consume a bag of rubbish.
Punishment fits the crime.

Littering winds me up cos its so pointless,
at least other crimes have a point.

I'd pass a law overturning every law and regulation in violation of the Constitution and declaring null and void any such laws or regulations passed in the future.

The ATC strikers were fired because their contract contained a no-strike agreement. They violated and thus voided their contract. That's how and why Reagan fired them and they had no recourse.

Remember, there was one ATC who did not go on strike? He quit and was rehired after the mass firing was history. He was smart and took the path of self-preservation.

The rest of the people probably figured Reagan would cave as Carter would have. The didn't figure on Reagan's integrity.

I don't know about your buddy, the roofer, but unless he was in a contract with a no-strike stipulation, he certainly could have gone on strike.

Yes, you are very correct again uncle bill and thank you for being what I am unable to be. I just did not know which country had a right to strike. I did not know about the contract. I will ask my roofer!

Yes, return to seashells & barter!

I have fresh vegetables all year 'round (canning) and fresh meat and all sorts of stuff and all I have to prvide is sweat equity!

There are nurses on strike in Minneapolis right now. ParkNicollet clinic/hospitals and I'm not sure about others.
